Sur you can but i recommend using a 3s battery. 2s is a bit weak for a heavy SCTE...

Has anyone tested this motor on a boat with 4S LiPo ? I have a 32" Catamaran with 125A ESC and 4S LiPo (2 X 2S 3300mAh in series) . Also watching the KD36-74-06XL 2800KV would it be better ? I would appreciate any other idea .

did someone measured real KV on this motor? I did, both optically and with rpm sensor and I am getting smth around 1350KV only.
whats going on?

I have this engine, but certainly not 1350KV, has over 2200kv for sure about the controller is not working properly, or the motor is bad

When it says Max Amps: 80A does that mean i can only use an 80 amp esc. Or can i use a 120 amp esc

yes, you can use any 80 or more A esc.

It means that the engine must not be loaded more than max 80A. If you for instance put the engine in a very heavy car, it will load the engine alot more than in a small, light car. The esc you decide to use, must be of a higher rating than 80A, (or in case of another motor* a higher rating than the max amps provided) to prevent the esc from burning. The whole point is that anything above 80A will be punishing to the motor...

I have this motor and used on a slash 4x4. because of it's a 2pole motor, makes some cogging at start. mid to high rpm range is smooth. If you're looking for a cheap setup and use it for bashing, this will do the job. but if you're planing to race or want it to work perfectly without cogging start with buying a 4 pole motor at least. go for sensored systems.

This motor is 2 poles, construction as KDA inrunner but sectional, and a slightly better efficiency, but beware of contact between the cable and the rear facing the engine, there may be short circuit, it is good to analyze and implement control.I run in my 1:8 Truggy Caster with Turnigy cooler, the temperature is higher but in order.For the money a good buy.

This is an excellent choice for a brushless motor for any 1 8 scale car. Has a lot of torque and will make your car increase in will spins and wheelies. The reason why i gave four crowns for quality as the one mounting hole was slightly not in position meaning it need some mods for it to fit. overall excellent for its price and performance. keep up the good products HK and Turnigy. Ayden.
