Put this one in th9x flysky? Thanks guys
 chairos 4 points
Yes, it could be used with th9x flysky.

Just installed this in my new Turnigy 9x the other day, worked for about 1 second when I first powered it up...and never again. No backlight. Gonna take the heatshrink off and check the soldering and whatnot...anyone else have this problem?
 Bakamoichigei 7 points
Found out what happened... There was actually a tiny strand of solder SHORTING THE CURRENT-LIMITING RESISTOR. So, good job on that one, whoever. And now I can't return it because the only way I could find that out was by taking it apart... Sadly I don't have any white LEDs this size, so I'll have to go with red for the time being.

hello everyone, does the light stays on the entire time the transmitter is on?? or does it shut off when no messing around with the menu???
 1stAidan 110 points
It's always on.
 Arun 130 points
It will be always on when you connect to the plug using this connectors.. if you want do some thing exotic and put a switch outside for this... so that we can switch it off when not needed... :)

 NewToHobbyKing 6378 points
Heikki yes you have short out the on/off switch. Have a close look. A magnify glass will help!

Hello guys, I changed the backlight of my 9x and I can say that is not difficult. BUT ... Unfortunately the backlight is "always on" even when the transmitter is off, just plug the battery light comes on. Please can someone help me?

Ow! Thanks this video is very helpful, but i checked more than five times the installation and continues with the same problem, the backlight turns on when the battery is plugged in I think it's a connection problem, that is not appearing.

resolder the on/off switch that might fix it

Which of the three (green, blue or white)backites work the best in sunlight..
 Croupier 92 points
Blue works better in sunlight, green and white only at night, the white give you a light green backlight.

If you go to a store that sells scholar material, you may try to find a transparent plastic (autoadesive), a friend of mine put 1 layer of blue and another layer of pink plastic, then you may get a clear blue light, which looks like the FrSky's screen's blue light. NOTE: the plastic goes between the backlight and the 9x's screen...

 HellyFlyer 1249 points
this is 9cm long and 4 cms wide
 NewToHobbyKing 6378 points
Gary does fitting this effect the WARRANTY?
 Gary 3001 points
I don't think so as it is a manufacturers recommended upgrade and there is no soldering to do.if you ever need to send the Tx for repair you could always remove it if you wish but do not think it will be a problem.
 NewToHobbyKing 6378 points
Cool what about change the Mode form 1 to 2 or Mode2 to Mode1?

**Check the cable for shorts** 2 pins on the connector were shorted from ***r soldering by the manufacturer . Now I have a 9x thats in need of repair

I found only a small difficult on the installation due to the fact that instructions (on web site) say the panel have to be installed upside down. Second installation doesn't fail.

The red wire on the penal should be on the right and bottem of the Tx, looking on the back of the Tx with the case opened.

Do you have to remove that foil on one side of the backlight before installing it?
 icekey 10 points
watching some videos i come to the conclusion you don't have to remove that white foil!
 Franco 17 points
if it's the transparent one : yes.
 cr8tive_leo 177 points
You don't have to remove anything, the foil helps reflect the led light forward. Removing it would destroy the functionality of the backlight all together.
 Tamas 2 points
no, you dont have to! just put it in the transmitter.
 HellyFlyer 1249 points
not on the Turnigy 9x you have to install as is
 delipoyraz 6 points
Do what I have already purchased the section details all the difference in control may exist, but I think that would only back a little ghosting sökmesende is no need to unplugged, but still can you give me credit :)
 Heush23 2 points
I removed the opaque foil behind the screen and we can see better. The light is more strong. It is necessary to pay attention not to put hard solvant on the frontal part of the screen. Just behind. It is long job but the result is better. Even in sunlight.

Anyone here have both the white and the blue? How do they compare? Which do you recommend?
 helixerox 2356 points
I bought the White kit. Blue is more beautiful as the white screen looks a bit aged.
 Thorax78 231 points
I have a white kit and my friend a blue one and the choice is up to you, they both do the work. You can compare them on youtube videos, for example watch?v=XA5iOussSXg for white and watch?v=W8O2x8NyBu0 for blue.

White better for contrast and hence visibility. Blue ...well anything from china is loaded with it...toys ...watches.. While would be functional elegant and subtle.. But thats your call.

There is a change for those who like electronics and has skills in weld and furthermore has facility with computers. You can set the time that the light stays on, very interesting. Search Google for - er9X Turnigy 9x - will find where this free information is deposited.

I got this for my 9X since i'm really loving the radio I thought i'd treat it to some functional bling. those who are using the turnigy 9X with the factory firmware, are you noticing shortened battery life with this installed?
 cr8tive_leo 177 points
No shortened battery life at all. The current draw is minimal. You may want to install a toggle switch to turn the backlight on and off, it's fairly simple and eliviates any concerns of a shortened battery life. (and in the future, if you do decide to upgrade the firmware, you could assign a switch on the tx to do the same)
 HellyFlyer 1249 points
Yes, The battery life shortens if you have the AA pencil cell installed but if you have the lipo installed you should not face any issues, Also the HK forum shows how to install a switch for the backlight so you can switch it on only when you need it.
 __HaKK 466 points
Current draw is vary small, unnoticeable, just get a LiPO or LiFePO4 TX battery from HK as they have practically no self-discharge. PS! White backlight really sucks, I have used blue on 3 9Xs and blue looks great.
 fred0000 104 points
thanks guys, i'll do some tests with the AA pack, but i've just finnished making a transmitter pack out of a 900mah 3s i'll never find a use for. thanks guys.

dark gray to black
 cr8tive_leo 177 points
All depends what you set your contrast settings to. The higher the setting, the darker the characters look, the lower the setting the lighter they look. hope that helps.

In practice white backlight really sucks compared to blue in my opinion.

Does the stock V2 firmware support the auto time-out feature for using this back light? Thanks John
 Sugna 189 points
no, you need third party firmware to switch the back light on/off. Alternatively, you can wire it up to a physical switch.
 Thorax78 231 points
No, with original firmware it's always on* if you want this feature you have to change firmware (I'm using er9x) and you need a mosfet, it's all explained if you search "er9x" in google. Changing firmware require soldering skills but it's very cheap and than you have a beautiful software in your radio.
 HellyFlyer 1249 points
No this is not supported in the updated firmware, so it will go off with the Tx switch
 FPVking 366 points
Backlight led draws so little power so don't worry to keep it on all the time.
 flyandi 944 points
Or you buy the $40 bucks programming board and no soldering required but still the same benefits!
 JohnyR 10 points
OK thanks everybody. I am going to make the MOSFET mod and run er9x. John
 delipoyraz 6 points
If you say no problem we can solve the problem by inserting the key into the appropriate control bit latch keys to normal manual dexterity, you can only occupy the smallest place If you insert

Thank you for providing the photo installation instructions! The only difficult part was removing the original foam pad to replace with the new thinner foam pad; The adheasive on the pad was very strong. All I can recommend is peal it back carefully without putting too much pressure on the board. The LED panel fit in place perfectly. Make sure the connector wire bunches are gently pushed back out of the way as the board is reinstalled. The white light is a big improvement for viewing the display screen. I'm pleased!

A cheap and easy solution. If you understand the simple pictures that are posted above here on the website and can follow them, then you can install this back light. A WORD OF CAUTION: Use extreme caution when removing the screws from the Turnigy transmitter. I have a few screws that will not tighten back up because they were installed very tight at the factory. I will have to put a dab of JB weld or some thread locking compound inside of the holes to ensure the threads are tight. Overall a good product for an even better price. I think it's time for some night flying!
