Ever wished your Turnigy 9X transimitter had a backlit LCD? Wish no more! the Turnigy 9X LCD backlight kit is here! Other solutions require soldering or use a noisy inverter, voiding CE and warranty. However the Turnigy LCD Backlight Kit is LED driven and is a snap to install!
No soldering is required, you can do this simple upgrade yourself. If you can use a screw driver you can install this backlight!
Specs: Input Voltage: 8v - 13v Current Draw: 60~90mA Color: Blue
Mine draws 11-20mA at 8-13V There is an internal resistor in the wiring. The LED itself uses 2.75-2.9V The resistor is 480ohm. If you want to use different input voltage, cut the red and black wire (save the connectors for other projects), and connect a resistor to the red wire. (you can also replace the existing resistor inside the shrink wrap, if you want to use the connectors) You can now choose input voltage by calculating the resistor by this formula. ResistorValue=(InputVoltage-2.8V)/0.015 This will give you medium light. For full light use ResistorValue=(InputVoltage-2.9V)/0.021 For battery saving (2mA, not visible in sunlight), use: ResistorValue=(InputVoltage-2.7V)/0.002 Round up to the nearest resistor value you got, to be on the safe side. Good luck!
Hi, I understand the red/black polarity and have one of these working well. Anyway as I've moved to OpenTX firmware just found that while configuring the back light to go off lets say after 5 sec of inactivity, what happens is exactly the opposite, which is when i press anything it goes, light goes off and by the end of 5sec it switches on!!
Does it really have a polarity as by any reason mine could have been supplied with the wrong wire position or even myself i could have connected inverted...Am curious if switching the wire order will help me though just wanted to ask before i burn my backlight :)
Thanks in advance
Yeah!!! Now my 9X has a display backlight!! *LOVE*

Ordered one :) Thanks Hobbyking!!! But I think it'll be better to make it white color instead blue. Readability on a white background much better. Maybe you will make a better and faster LCD for replace for our Turnigy 9x, because original is so sllloooowwww...
Got my backlight and installed, it quite bright and not hard to install in to the TX. Carefull with wrong side when you install because the other side is not really bright. One more thing if you want to turn the light of when flying, mod a toggle switch is the best way.
Nice day you all :D
