Which would you reccomend for a beginner/intermediate flyer: this or the radjet 800?
 Frogforce#1 16 points
The T-45 is more forgiving in slower flight. The radjet 800 stalls first and has soft elevons, needs lots of up elev to turn not very predictable for beginners. L-39 is nice too. Just faster on landing. Flys sweet with 4s upgrade motor/fan.

Is this a good first EDF, or would recommend another 50mm EDF?
 David 2 points
If you have experience flying other model aircraft, then yes, this is a good first EDF. Performance is great on 3s, just make sure you get your balance point right and aileron rates low cos it is quite twitchy on high rates. It has plenty of power to comfortably climb away from even the dodgiest of hand launches, and thats where every other cheap EDF I've ever had over the years has come unstuck. Once its flying it flies like a fast sports plane. Lots of fun, I highly recommend it!

these build up nice, but haven't tested the flight performance yet. Weather hasn't suited so far. Just ordered the T33 to add to the other 50mm jets I have (F18/F35/Mig15/L39/T45/F9).

Of those 50mm jets, which ones would you recommend ?. Are any of them dogs ?
 BulletMaster 323 points
MiG, T45, F18, L39 all fly great. F35 shed it's fan blades on startup. T33 stripped aileron servos on duffed takeoff.

does this have landing gears? and i will credit whoever answers
 slaanesh 430 points
There is no landing geat with this model. Hand launch and belly land.
The best 50mm jet is the F-16 it's a great flier, followed closely by this L-39.
The F-35 is also good but you need to keep it as light as possible.
The Mig-15 and F-86 are also good and because of their blunt nose can take a bit more punishment if you nose it in slightly.

Adding tape along the sides of the fuselage will help brace it for bad landings. It also needs glue where the fuse meets the intakes. Dont be afraid to cut the battery tray formers out and reglue them in to get balance right with your packs, just use polyurethane expanding glue and extra foam off cuts.

I have the f9f, L39 and T-33. This one is by far the fastest and lightest of these minijets. although the l39 is less stable it's great fun and not to hard.

The L-39 arrived today well packed in a double box.No damage to the aircraft. The way its packed has been well thought out to prevent damage. When I checked the contents the "Y" lead for the ailerons was missing from the box.Not good but should have a spare. The aircraft itself is quite well made for the price and went together without any problems. The only thing I noticed is there is bit of a colour difference between the fuselage and the horizontal stabiliser. The fan and servos all seem to operate ok. I have removed the pins from the battery conections and fitted a Deans style plug and will be using a 1000 mah battery per the Hobby King recomendations. Haven't flown it yet but will give another report when I do

Ordered it Wednesday from the Sydney store, it arrived in Brisbane Friday. Excellent picking, dispatch and delivery times!!! Doubled boxed, arrived undamaged. Very easy to assemble, elevator, rudder and nose are glued on main wing is screwed on. I'm using a 1300mah nanotech. No c of g issues. Will fly it tomorrow and review it again. For those that have the T-33 as well, the L-39 has less wingspan by 20cm is the same length and lighter overall and uses the same powerplant and ESC. I look forward to its first flight.
