Bixler v1.1 EPO 1400mm (RTF Mode 1 Throttle Right Radio)
Looking for a ready to fly trainer? or an in-expensive FPV platform? Maybe you are a club pilot looking for something you can just pull out of the car and fly on one of those lazy Sunday afternoons? The Hobbyking Bixler ticks all of these boxes and more!
The Bixler has all the right ingredients, made from super tough EPO foam, everything is pre-installed so minimal assembly time is required, in fact, by the time you have charged the included battery with the supplied charger, it should be ready to fly!
Stop Press!!
Allow us to introduce the Bixler V1.1 with a myriad of improvements over the original Bixler. Our v1.1 features relocated elevator and rudder servos, now closer to the tail and accessible via a magnetic hatch on the underside of the fuselage. Why? you may ask - This allows much more usable space inside the front section of the fuselage, something that FPV'ers are going to thank us for! We have also updated the included hardware to include better quality components, such as the new 4 bolt control horns on all surfaces. We also include 2 different propellers, one for high speed and the other for carrying heavier payloads. You - our customers spoke, we listened! The end result is the Bixler V1.1!
Full 4 channel control is a must for new pilots and experienced pilots alike and the included 2.4ghz radio, & 6 channel receiver combo is packed with plenty of features, including a range test button for peace of mind, a mix facility, servo reversing and a trainer port!
Hi Sung Jin,
I resolved the problem by doing the following procedure:
1. Start out with the lipo battery unplugged.
2. Turn on the transmitter, set throttle to maximum
3. Plug in the lipo battery.
4. As soon as the first set of tones stop, put the throttle on the transmitter to minimum.
5. You here some tones again and the throttle end points should be set.
6. If this did not work you may have waited too long or too short to put the throttle back down...in this case repeat procedure 1 - 5.
Hi, I want the plane for by brother, he newer flown before, I am living far away to asist, even I fly many years. I had Easy star, this is similar, does there fit biger battery, or how big battery fits there I would like to place there later 2200mah 3S
Tnx in advance
Yes a 3s 2200 will work but weigh a little more than with the 1300 3s. It won't have any more power just a longer flight time. Are you flying mode 1 where the throttle is on the right? Or mode 2 throttle on the left?
The bixler could carry a huge payload, i've even seen people put in a 5000mah battery and fpv equipment on it and it still flies with the stock set up! just make sure you check the CG afterwards the older version had washers that needed to be taken out not sure about this one though but they could be easily taken out with a pair of pliers just be careful you don't pull the foam along with the washers. Hope this helps!
COLBY, I am flying mode 1 trhottle right, In my opinion this is plane mode, as I cant imagine how to land nicely when you decrease throttle right and you only work with elev and rudd on left... my friend fly with mode 2 and he never land nicely...Mode 2 is more suitable for heli or for plane WW II combat also, but this set up I can provide also on mode 1 I just change connection of alie and rudd on receiver.
I just assembled my Bixler set last week and it appears the motor does not want to turn. Everything else, elevator, rudder, etc. is working. I checked the connectors and they are OK. How to check if it is a problem with the ESC or the motor?? Thanks!
Meanwhile I disconnected the ESC from the motor and I don't measure any voltage at the output cables from the ESC (cross-checked all possible combinations). I assume this means a dead ESC
I have the same problem, servers are working well but motor do not turn.
Congraturation solving your broblem, but I can't understand your sloving method. Please tell me
precisely how to calibrating the throttle range during binding
I would suggest to fly plane with mode 1, mode 2 is for heli. It is up to everybody but if somebody want to fly bigger planes or 3D planes in my opinion mode 1 is much better
can someone please help I wanna look for a rtf plane to play with and grow so I can get better.but I am in usa warehouse and all say china shipment I understand this is not a cheap hobby but I have a hard time paying 50% ON SHIPPING am I oing something wrong
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying this plane but when I went to buy it for the postage it only gives me one option which is china post then next to that it says no lipo. Can I still order it because the plane comes with a lipo pack. And it is the only option for postage.
If you live in the US you would most likely fly with mode 2 or throttle on the left. Most people around china fly with mode 1 or throttle on the right.
basically any 12v power source. You could either hook it up to your car battery using the provided alligator clips or get a wall socket adapter that provides you with 12v. Hope this helps!
Yes it can. It is a balance charger that can charge any 2-3 cell battery regardless of the Mah rating. You will need your own external power source though.
Can anyone please tell me how to get the motor to work
And how to centre up one of my rudders and also centre up my elevator?
Please see my video link below to understand what's going on :(

Hi!
It's my first order with HobbyKing and I bit confused about delivery...
Parcel sitting in Coventry Custom for almost week and no letters or calls from them....
Does somebody know how long takes to go through UK Custom and do I need to pay any fee for it?
You will have to wait I am afraid for Parcelforce to get in touch with you, it is out of our hands now, depending on the decision of HMRC it will either be released without fees and can be tracked again as normal, or your local depot will write to you.
I've wanted to get a plane to fly for a while and thought this would be fun for me and the kids to take out and fly on the weekends. My daughter is 11 and my son is 9. Would this be a good plane for us to start with / learn on? Or is there a better one for us to get our feet wet with.
This is the most recommended beginner plane on hobbyking. It comes with everything you'll need to get in the air is relativity easy to fly for beginners and can still do acrobatics as you gain confidence. I would recommend purchasing a second battery so you can extend your outings.
How do you convert a mode 1 bixler 1.1 RTF into mode 2? Would that be a relatively simple project or quite complicated for one whose knowledge of electronics consists basically of turning the lights on and off? or would buying the bixler 2 ARF be a lot simpler endeavor? Thanks.
On some radio controllers it's easy. Change the mode in the firmware, get the springs from left to right and that's it.
I am not sure if you can program this RX for mode2 (I think it can be done via PC)
Hi, I've just assembled this with the hobby king blue series 30amp ESC. When the prop is off the engine, the motor twitches for a couple of seconds and then runs as normal. Once I attach the propeller the motor just twitches for about 5 seconds on any throttle setting and then stops.
Am I missing something?
Hi All, I am looking at buying the Bixler v1.1 EPO 1400 package. I would like to also purchase a extra compatible battery as in the package 1300mAh 3s Lipoly Battery. Under batteries is the Turnigy 1300mAh 3s 30C lipo pack compatible. Also is the radio controller that comes in the package is it able to be used with a simulator.
Otherwise I looking at getting the Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 1) (v2 Firmware), would be a better option as I see it has Simulator interface.
Go for the 2200mAh battery, it's perfect for this plane and you get superlong flying times.
I would also definitely reccomend the 9X, it's a great radio when you mod it up a bit :)
I have the V1 RTF Bixler The Bixler transmitter work perfctly with the Clear View simulator I bought(I presume it will work with any simulator program) but you need the USB connector cable part No 265000001 to connect the transmitter to your computer This simulator has the Bixler as one of the models (called sky surfer in the program)
Sergey have you looked here: Hobbyking SS Series 18-20A ESC SKU: HK-SS20A. Under the Purple File Tab of this ESC list is a manual. I hope it helps. Please have a look.
Hi Brett, Yes! the clevis's are included. In fact, everything you need to get in the air is included. I would recommend getting an additional battery. 3s 2200mah would be ideal.

31 thumbs up!
This is a good plane, can use up to 2200mah 3S. Flight time fantastic, but a bit on the down on the power side with a 5X5prop. Suggested prop size 6X5 but this will reduce the flight time and also may toast the original ESC.... Dont bother changing the motor, the original setup is very powerful if i am not wrong it is about 2000kv, if using batts above 1300 please change your ESC to at least a 30amp or 40amp even better...i toasted the 20amp,25amp esc with original factory setup....a very nice nite Plane with LEDs install...another cons is the wings...need to modify the wings with Velcro strips to secure the jointed wings...we have got a few wings which snap to V shape during flight...or change to a more solid carbon spar...
They plane is so good that we combine 2 planes into 1 calling it the twin surfer...
Flight time: (original factory parts)
1300mah estimate about 15mins...i cut throttle when gliding.
1600mah estimate about 20mins...i cut throttle when gliding.
2200mah estimate about 30mins...i cut throttle when gliding.

My first plane! crashed a couple of times,, just glue it back together. Running it now with 4000mah 3s car lipo.. perfectly balanced... just take away som of the lead glued from the fabric in front, and fly away.. Love flying close by, and the engine sound.. only thing I would change, is the prop. it broke the first flight.

I bought this product and the receiver was not working when I got it. I contacted hobbyking by email (glad they discontinued the phone service). I was asked to ship back the receiver (at my expense) and wait for few weeks till they figure out what the problem is. I figured out it is not worth it and opened the receiver to find a loose connection. I fixed it and it works fine.
Product quality is acceptable and the plane flies great. Expect a slow customer service including the live chat box that takes forever.
For a newbie, there are minimal instructions. It took me a little bit figure out correct orientation of servo cables. Newbies should keep in mind that the positive (red) is in the middle and signal (orange/yellow) is closer to the label.

Very good plane, resistant and easy for beginner. Good quality and characteristics : low flight very pleasant, fast flights with fun possible.
Flying weight ok (I weight 656g for mine). The original configuration is very powerful with the motor. Fly time with 1300 mah : 15 min if wind not good, I fly up to 30 min with good conditions (I cut throttle when gliding).
Fly time with 1600 mah very good : 20-30 min if I glide, and more if wind conditions are good. (I cut throttle when gliding).
Important remarks to secure and improve the Bixler :
1) I don't toast the 20A ESC which is sufficient if you fly normally (throttle up and gliding). If you want always fly with throttle up, please change it to a 30A.
2) I toasted the servo for the elevator because it forced too many, fortunately I had no damage ! The commands are not rather soft, so I cut the elevator, rudder and ailerons with cutter, and tape them with strong Medical tape (Blenderm is perfect). Since, no problem anymore with servos.
3) I you want better gliding, removed the ring-shaped metal glued in front of the plane to win fly weight (56g). I did it and the plane glide and fly better !
Don't forget after to put your battery in front of the plane to balance it correctly.
4) When flying fast with fun, put Velcro strips or tape the wings to secure the jointed wings.

My Hobbyking Bixler EPO 1400mm (RTF Mode 1 Throttle Right Radio) arrived yesterday and on opening the box I found the plane was very well presented and good quality, everything was in the box except the hinge tape (which I had read from someone else so I had it on hand). The it was easy to put together, and set up. I took it to the park this morning for it's first flight, it flew like a bird, no problems with anything, had a spare battery from my HK Decathelon so flew for quite a while. Really good value for money for any type of flier, charge the batteries tonight and tomorrow we try slop soaring :0)
