Thats a good question, The shaft on the prop adapter and prop hole are an odd size. I went to several hobby shops to buy the clamping type prop adapter because i hate the ones that use the allen wrench as they never seem to be as balanced. The props that come with the plane have a hole that is smaller than standard prop adapters. I stayed with the stock adapter since i didnt want to always be reaming out the stock propellers. The props from the radjet 800 fit universal prop adapters (larger shaft hole) and looks otherwise identical to the skyfun prop. However, I didnt see them for sale by themselves. I wonder if you got packaged the old 1800KV prop. I didnt notice a big size difference in the props that came with mine. My fuselage arrived damaged though and the RMA process is slow and not fun for anyone that cares.
Hey Ralf. Im not sure about the size. I allways use the recomended prop for the motor im using. Then i use the size between the smallest and the largest. The motor is placed between the vertical fins.
Sorry that i dont reply on your line of question. Every time i try klicking the reply button i end up in a new question bar. Anyway. The battery tray is large enough for even bigger battery. So you can even try a bigger battery.

Thanks for your reply.I am looking at the Kit version of this plane and was wondering what kind of set up to use*** Motor/ESC/Battery/Prop so you would recommend your set up 2836 BO 2350KV and 40A 4S 2200 mah 35C.I've read a lot on spects on set up on planes and sometime its hard to know which one to use. Thanks for your help.
What's the largest propeller that can be fitted to this wing?, I'm not interested in screaming little props, or doing 200k, I would be interested in a T2826 2200kv with a 7x6 prop, I know how this combo performs I have it on a skywalker falcon, Will it fit on the skyfun?? is the prop between the vertical tail section or behind it?? thanks for any help.
I just wanted a fast parkflyer to relax with after larger scale models. I ordered this kit and used the Turnigy 2836 BO 2350KV. This was pretty great setup with a 40 Amp ESC. But everything depends on the pilot. Start with this setup then just expand reading these forums and you will get it even faster. I used 60% expo on maiden flight.
I have the new rev. version and measured the carbon rod slots in the wings and they are more in the 2mm width range than the 2.5mm that was posted. You could make the slots bigger but initially they are really small.
i have lost a motor with the prop in a crush yesturday, can you help me remember what prop i had? the motor was Turnigy 2836 Brushless EDF Motor 3200kv the battery is 4s nanotech 30-70c and it pulled 55A*13v at WOT at start and settled to 48A*12.6v after 10 seconds (the battery is old and puffed so maybe it pulls a bit more with same new battery) what prop do you think it looks like? I have ordered a lot of 4.1x4.1s, 4.5x4.5s and 4.75x4.75 but i dont remember wich one was on the plane, i think it was 4.1x4.1 but i'm not sure and i dont want to burn the motor or have poor perfomance taking a guess
Quick question, is it good engine and ESC for that plane???

Take the credit atleast you confirmed.
Will be using D2826-10 1400kv with 7x5 prop.
The area around motor mount is repaired many times so going for a lower kv motor
would this set up work ?
Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2218H Heli Motor 3450kv
TURNIGY Plush 60amp Speed Controller
TGS Sport 5x5E Precision propeller
3s 2200 25-35c turnigy lipo
Better to buy the kit in my opinion. The faster this goes the easier it is to hand launch and its much more fun to fly. The NTM 2836 motors work well as suggested below. There's also a 3000KV NTM version which I'm going to try. Use a 4S battery for more power.
I was just reading the V1.1 description and it said "(v1.1) of the SkyFun - it now has a stronger alloy motor mount" amongst other things, whether you get that in the kit version?? this kit does not say V1.1 so you probably don't get the alloy motor mount either.
sonnydc What was your setup? I'm deciding whether to get this or the phantom, I know there chalk N cheese but I like the look of them both, I'm a bit concerned it's not epo, I have been known to have a few close encounters! so for me epo is important, also can it fly reasonably slow??
Its a 2836-2450kv motor with a 40A esc running a 5x5 prop on 3s/40c battery.
This model is better than other EPS models.
Ive crashed into 4 pieces. Glued it back together with gorilla glue, toothpick and masking tape. Still flies well. Its has very good slow fly characteristics and glides against the wind. Just be careful in dives and you are good.
My friend has the phantom. It flies best on calm weather and a bit touchy on high winds, can be more stable if you add a 3 axis stabilizer. Best of all its EPO.
Yea, my skywalker falcon is a bit touchy at slow speed in wind if you bank to turn and a gust picks it up it will roll over, I think it's a trait of the wide wings, I really like em though! thanxs for the info.
You're most welcome. Nowadays I always use the orange 3-axis, since I fly mostly in the afternoons where the winds are at their peak. It really makes a difference. I also plan to buy the falcon and try fpv.
The falcon is a great plane, I have a Turnigy d2826/6 2200kv motor on it it with a 7x6 prop, it goes vertical no problem and the biggest battery I've tried is a XXL3600mah 3s 50c which gives about 40minutes?, which would help your FPV?, normally I fly it with a 2200mah 3s 20c it's more agile with the 2200mah, I have a 3 axis stabiliser but I've not used it on anything yet. It was bought for a HK fpv-168 which I have not completed.
It looks the same as this one, I bought it off e b a y, PRODUCT ID: APC7x6-E,... When vertical anymore than about 3-4seconds at full power and it's out of sight, I run it on a 30amp mystery esc it's burst is 40amp, I don't normally run more than 5 seconds on full power it travels too far too quick, I tested with my ampmeter and it draws 34.5amps at WOT. My falcon weighs with a 2200mah battery 633grms, How heavy was your Tuffwing??
If you go to "Skywalker Falcon Flying Wing ARF EPO1340mm (AUS Warehouse)" to the file area there is a few pictures of my wing in there. You can see the prop there.
Maybe with less bite on your prop your spinning it faster too.... My prop Is that thin you can nearly see through it, I won 12 of them on an e b a y auction for $10, turns out there cheaper at hobbyking! but I hav'nt ever broken one, still have 11 spares, I'm trying to configure my new planes to use these props.
Hi All... Just sent for the turnigy 2836-2350kv motor, Can you tell me if I will need to change anything on the skyfun or is it just a swop for the standed motor, Cheers All.
Hi boys ...it is possible to use this engine in the sky fun?

still on backorder?? L O L
after 42 days: "Stock available and arriving from the back-warehouse within 7~10 days"
well i canceled and bought the last one in DE warehouse. it cost me more but it is delivered and put together already. hope i fly this soon.
HK DOES need YOU, me, and everyone who spent hard earned money at HK. Trust me, HK needs US more than we need them! No us, no HK. Theres alot of hobby shops besides them. Remember, in my book, GREAT SERVICE beats cheap prices ANYDAY!
Sorry I was referring to your expectation of a reply from HK regarding when stock will be available, the appropriate place to ask this question is in live help or contact us, even then I would think you would have buckleys chance of a reliable reply.
What the hell HK??
on 31/10 there was this:
"31/10/2012
Stock available and arriving from the back-warehouse within 7~10 days."
17 days later we got this:
"17/11/2012
Stock available and arriving from the back-warehouse within 7~10 days."
this is ridiculous..
Did anyone get an answer on when item will be available? I've been waitin for about a month already. Stryker starting to look good. Much more $ but at least its always available. Come on HK dont lose me to Parkzone!
If it was EPO, or something else then EPS, I'd buy it without any doubts - after the smaller Parkjet EPO, which is SkyFun's 60% version.
Heh, HK, is it difficult to just fill the molds with different material? I bet EPO version would be very popular.
Normally 1/3 of distance to rhe back border to nose, but there may be variations depending on the weight of the battery that you use. is always better to have more weight nose that tail.
Thank you. yes I know the 1/3 rule. I have not yet flown the skyfun now 1 year. I have installed a 2.2 kw setup, 125a esc, 6s 4000, led, retractile landing gear. I think I want to make a first flight in the experimental.
ich wü*nsche ein genauen bericht von skyfun piloten. danke.
The 1/3 rule (or better yet, start on the wing spar & go from there,) works pretty well for normal, unswept wings. Not for flying wings.

Jet kam gestern an.

I installed a 3mm carbon fiber rod in each wing, removed the foam ailerons and replaced them with balsa (used plastic hinges and fiber hinge tape), spray painted the canopy red inside, removed some decals and covered the plane with OraStick cover on top and on the bottom. The servo covers were a tight fit so I submerged them in boiling water and re-shaped them to fit. I maidened mine with a 3S bat/Turnigy 2836 3700Kv/4.74x4.75 APC prop and found the model highly sensitive thus had to dial in large numbers of exponential (40pcnt) and dual rates (30pcnt). Once that was done I changed to 4S Lipo, same motor (3700kv) and 4.1x4.1 APC prop. THE BEST SETUP! Screaming and fast. However, in one of my high speed flybys the canopy (attached with 4 strong magnets) came off and ripped one vertical fin off. Gives an indication how fast it was going :). I continued flying as it was ultra stable. Need to make a better holding mechanism for the canopy.... If you want to draw attention and have heads turning at the flying field than this should be your setup. Check the file section
