Dear Sirs, after almost one year of use this units is showing a problem. The total voltage, that is a check prior to initialize the charger process, is showing unreal elevated voltage values, example: individual 3s cells showing correct values cells 4.0 * 4.0 *4.0 but total value shows 15V that abort charging start by "voltage err". Any idea to fix or calibrate it ?  430 points - 2/12/2015
i'm disappointed. i used it with my 104 watt 7 a psu and i get an error message. like high voltage. 10 - 18 volts is the voltage range for this psu. the charger doesn't like 15 volts. i'll test it under 15 volts to see if it works. i may have to return this unit.

I just got one of these and I don't think the discharge function is working. I have a 3S 4000mAh battery that I want to bring down to storage voltage (11.52V). I set the LiPo discharge value to 3840mv (per cell). When I run it in DCHG mode, the battery does not appear to discharge at all, even after several hours. I can connect the same battery to an Accucel 6 charger and run the Storage mode on it and the battery will discharge slowly over an hour or so. Am I not setting something correctly or is the charger defective?

Is this 105w / 7amp Power Supply enough to handle this charger?..
I'm just going to be charging 2 & 3s lipos & 6/7 cell Nimh. & if so, where can I get the power cord for the power supply? Thanks in advance.

I figured it out.... I went with a 15a power supply... I'm told you should use a power supply that can handle at least 25% more amperage than the Chargers max charge rate. So this charger is 80w 7a & I went with a 180w 15a power supply...just over double! & with the hobby king fused power strip im gonna be charging like a pro... 430 points
but you would have been fine with that little amp too, even if you charged 6 cells most charge 2-4 cell lipos anyway. the conventional 5 amp 50 watt chargers get hot duing the charge which is dangerous. i'm ordering this charger to use with my 105 7 amp psu. i like looking at the graphs just because.

Turnigy Smart6 Balance Charger Review

1 thumbs up!
This review is based on very quick test. I deliberately selected a worn 3s Lipo for this test knowing that the middle cell was beginning to give up and running lower than the two others. I had used a balancer but apparently the imbalance was too bad for it to fully deal with it and it could not charge the battery completely any more. To my surprise, this charger noticed what was going on, dropped the charge current to 300mA and kept the other two cells at 4.20V while the middle one was charging up. It took a little while but it looks like the middle cell was charged up to almost full capacity as well. Probably this battery is close to the end of its life but this test proves that this charger does something right! Being a skeptic person, I also followed the charging voltage with a Fluke 189 multimeter which has accuracy of ±0.025 when measuring DC voltage. The results were pretty good here as well: On the first three cells, the measurement differences were between 6mV and 15mV to the multimeter. In all cases the charger was underestimating the voltage which causes it to overcharge slightly but the error is very well within acceptable limit. I have not checked all the 6 channels (cells) since I had only 3s batteries to test with. There is a way to adjust the maximum charge voltage for each chemistry if you want to make sure that the cells are kept below recommended maximum. I

Turnigy Smart 6
The unit Work very good, have charge 2200/4000 mamp 3S Lipo and 4000 4s Lipos w/o a problem, balance is very good (check or QC with a good voltmeter) so no complaints, I like very much this little charger, the Graphs is OK to understand how the battery is performing but I wish they had provided a manual with some explanations to interpreted better the graphs, HobbyKing should MINIMUM supply a manual in PDF format so you can download that is why one less star.
Pros: Good Quality, small foot print (easy to port to the field), accurate, user friendly (very intuitive menu), good quality
Cons: Letters on the screen are a little small (in my opinion), it don’t come with a complete set of charging cables (basically it only come with XT60 charging connector no deans or etc.) so you better get the others if you need then, no manual, No banana plugs to connect to the Power Supply (it only come with alligator clip connectors), discharging is only 2 Amps will be better is it was around 4 or 5 amps.

i tested with 2200mah 3s lipo battery after full charge with smart6, cells are 4.20x4.20x4.20 full charged. easy menu, good cooling (not more noise), what i need i can see with one touch. and i plug "Temperature Sensor w/ Futaba plug (product id 11777)" to smart6 then i can read of battery temperature correctly.
and the smart6 charger manual link is stars product to this price. thank HK and turnigy
