Hello, I've got one problem my GA250 tries weird tricks on me.. I setservo 1520/333Hz it means LED blinks one time red then I power off gyro..When I try to set servo type again LED blinks twice!! So when I connect servo it beeps and bzzs.. Does anyone has a same problem ? Thx :)
 France 26 points
quick question. just trying to cover everything before farther answer. are you in the correct setting menu? there are 2. one for frequency and delay (initialize this as you power up the gyro and toggling the hh and rate switch) the other is for servo travel and limits (initialize this by holding the rudder stick all the way left or right and toggling the hh and rate switch).
 EvzEn 19 points
Hi, thank you for your reply! Yes I am in right menu, actually I set this gyro many times before and I dont have problem until now.. I set the servo without servo connecting and I follow blinking red LED but after power off and on again the red LED blinks one time more than before.. I do not understand, maybe I'll buy new gyro..
 France 26 points
ok. well out of my 3 ga250 1 started having similar problem not too long ago. I've had all 3 a little less than a year and been working properly except the one recently. it would reset the servo frequency to default (5 red blinks) I've set it back to one red blink many times till I went flybarless. I'm guessing this is problem that occurs to the gyro after awhile since other people have mention the same frequency resetting problems. Sorry I don't have an actual solution but maybe just have to replace :(

r_g_r-So I can use this gyro for RC Heli?
 France 26 points
you sure can
 SINGH09 7 points
yeah you can use this .. its a great gyro for 250 and 450 size helicoters..
 Rottweiler.ve 2 points
Well, I'm sure that almost any gyro was designed for Heli equipment, eh eh. However, many rc plane pilots use hely gyros on their models.
Arthur  13 points - 5/12/2013

Guys, What's the diffrence between Head Lock and Tail Lock gyro?
 r_g_r 1123 points
There is none! It's just two different terms for the same behavior. Without any stick input the gyro always tries to turn the helicopter back to the last known direction.
 SINGH09 7 points
both are one and the same thing.. in business its mostle called Head lock gyro.. but some people also call it tail lock gyro.. thats quite obvious that the tail will be locked in one position if the Head is locked... no difference..
 Rottweiler.ve 2 points
"Head lock" or "Tail lock" or "AVCS", three words and one meaning.
divyansh  1 points - 5/11/2013

hey can i use it with rc airplane
 dhruvafreak 535 points
It can be used for sure but keep in mind that you use Only Digital Servo and you can adjust the gain only through TX So your receiver should have spare channel

It doesn't seem a gyro problem. Same problem on two pieces is a lottery !!! Are you sure about tx trim/subtrim settings are on 0?
 Johnny66 30 points
Yes all trims are zeroed! As I said, both rate and HH feel exactly the same as if it's stuck on rate mode. I swapped it out for a standard gyro and all was good! I'll try another one on my new _Align _Trex 450, when I build it sometime next week!
Johnny66  30 points - 5/8/2013

I bought 4 of these gyros months ago and have only used/tested 2 of them. I can't seem to be able to get them to work properly! No matter if in rate/heading hold, tail is very mushy. When the tail starts to jitter I back off a little on the sensitivity in HH mode, still mushy! It's definitely not locking the tail in place. I have tried 3 fast digital servos, still no difference. Delay setting is off as well.
 galaxy76 66 points
Non é* un problema di gyro. Questo é* tipico di sbilanciamento delle pale di coda. Prova a cambiare tutto il gruppo di coda.
 Johnny66 30 points
Sorry, I don't understand your language!
 Rottweiler.ve 2 points
galaxy76 said that your problem may be caused by an inbalance of tail rotor.
 Johnny66 30 points
No, definitely not an imbalance of tail rotor! I put a generic gyro on (GAZ-126) and it worked like a charm.
 Rottweiler.ve 2 points
If you have purchased 4 gyros, and 2 of them don't work correctly, you can try with 2 others.
 Johnny66 30 points
Yes, I will build my _Align 450 (older model, got it very cheap!) this week with one of the other 2 of these gyros I have not used yet!
galaxy76  66 points - 5/6/2013

sorry, diode schotty :)
 galaxy76 66 points
Schottky Schottky Schottky :P
galaxy76  66 points - 5/5/2013

 dhruvafreak 535 points
thanks for the solution
 galaxy76 66 points
provare per credere :)

Ma dai?
galaxy76  66 points - 5/1/2013

1 year ago I purchased the GA250 and I was very satisfied. Recently, however, it loses the programming. for no reason back to the factory settings. know a solution to this problem?
 France 26 points
I have 3 of these gyro and one has the exact same problem every now and then the gyro resets to factory settings. I had no problems with the other two. I could not figure out why. I swapped them out with the same results. Sorry I never found a solution. I eventually just replaced it cause I got tired of having to set the servo frequency all the time lol.
 galaxy76 66 points
thanks for the reply. so it is a problem that afflicts some specimens. after what you've got problems?
 ray 25 points
have been having the same problem but worse it wont let me in to set the frequency and delay then when it does it drops my setup and sets all the frequency /end points to random settings maybe it should be the bin for this one

Recommended servo for a 250, 450 and maybe a 500 heli, one that work really well ? thanks
 r_g_r 1123 points
For the 250 and 450 size helis the "D922MG" servo works very well. For 500 size you might need something stronger like for instance the "3688HB" servo.
 firefox67501 24 points
Thanks for the info

r_g_r-What about the swash plate? What servo should I use
 r_g_r 1123 points
Google for "HK450 Configurator" there you find the best matching parts for the HK450 kits.
 abdulahad100 363 points
Use Corona 939MG Digital Metal Gear Servo 2.7kg/ 12.5g/ 0.13sec PRODUCT ID: DS939MG on the swash plate. This is a digital servo with metal gears. It is more resistant to crashes.
Arthur  13 points - 4/22/2013

r_g_r-OK.
Arthur  13 points - 4/22/2013

r_g_r-Have google search HK450 and it ask me to use a HXT900 servo. Is HXT900 servo good?
 r_g_r 1123 points
The HXT900 is not a good choice for a tail servo. It will work if you just hover or maybe fly around a bit. But you should get a digital servo. There are very cheap digital servos that cost almost nothing and perform very well. Like e.g. the D933MG servo.
 r_g_r 1123 points
Sorry I meant the D922MG. The D922MG is quick enough for a tail servo. The D933MG is slower.
Arthur  13 points - 4/22/2013

r_g_r-What is the brand of the servo?
 r_g_r 1123 points
Enter D933MG into the search at the top of HobbyKing's website and you'll find the servo.
 r_g_r 1123 points
Sorry I meant the D922MG. So please enter "D922MG" into the HobbyKing search.

Can someone recommend a good servo with this gyro.
 r_g_r 1123 points
I'm using the: D933MG Digital Metal Gear Servo
 r_g_r 1123 points
You can also Google for "HK450 Configurator" there you find the best matching parts for the HK450 kits.
 iniazi 4 points
D933 also, I use Futaba S9257 Servo (or get a clone make sure its metal gears, etc.)
 abdulahad100 363 points
Use this servo HobbyKing HK-922MG Digital Metal Gear Servo 1.8kg/ 12g/ 0.07sec PRODUCT ID: HK-D922MG. Its low cost and works really well

Is this gyro suitable for HK 450?
 r_g_r 1123 points
Yes, I have it on my HK450GT and it works perfect. Just be sure to use a quick digital servo. You can use this gyro with analog servos but you need to change the settings according to the manual.
 abdulahad100 363 points
Yes its perfect for HK450GT

Alexandre, Currently I have gyro in channel 4 and gyro gain (red) in channel 5. Please tell me what knob or switch on TH9x radio I can use to toggle between the Gyro HH and Rate modes on channel 5. I tried all three knobs ( dials)??
 Alexandre 26 points
You can't use knob for gyro gain. The Channel 5 switch is the upper right little switch.
 IanPellant 18 points
GA-250 arrived yesterday... took a few tries to crack the init sequence using the 9X transmitter! On the 9X set the Auxiliary Channel 5 to "GEAR" - that puts the gyro sens function (when plugged into CH5) onto the Gear switch (upper right as mentioned). To initialize: Turn on 9X, all switches OFF. Gyro should be mounted in a model(or held flat and steady). With gyro plugged in (black into CH4 and red into CH5)turn on the RX. Gyro will blink blue as it initializes. Flip the 9X Gear switch On, Off, On, Off, On and the blue light should keep blinking with the switch left On... wait a while to check that it keeps blinking, then turn Off the Gear switch and the red light should come on blinking for servo selection. For analog servos, the latest GA-250 has a 5 red blinks setting of 1520 / 70Hz - that should work with analog servos (I haven't tested it.. still waiting for the digital servos to arrive in the post).
Alexandre  26 points - 4/19/2013

Hello, you must setup the gyro gain with the channel 5 oh the t9x (gear channel) and not with the gyro sense.
rhoan  2 points - 4/19/2013

Any know how to setup the GA-250 using a TH9x radio? gyro gain is setup digitally under gyro sense, cannot toggle rapidly ??
 Alexandre 26 points
Hello, you must setup the gyro gain with the channel 5 oh the t9x (gear channel) and not with the gyro sense. More 50% you will be in headlock mode, under 50% you will be in standard mode. Finally you can set the gyro gain rapidly with the switch on your turnigy 9x.
 DigDug 60 points
The trick is to have the gain lower than 50 on the first position and higher than 50 on the second position of the gear switch. Then toggle the switch to get the gyro into setup mode. If the gains are both on 50, rapid toggle will do nothing.
MAX  18 points - 4/13/2013

It's great for airplanes( in ailerons/elevator)???
 r_g_r 1123 points
Yes it will work for airplanes. But you need a spare channel on your transmitter to set the gain of the gyro. Because the gyro gain can only be defined from the transmitter. There is no dial to set the gain directly on the gyro.
 Alexandre 26 points
You can put this gyro on an airplane, but you must have a free channel for the gain.
SINGH09  7 points - 4/7/2013

Plz help!!! i bought this gyro and its not giving any response (blinking) when i connect it to the reciever when power is On..... but on cnnecting red plug the blue light flashes for 2 sec and than again nothing happens.. plz tell what to do..
 John 69 points
did you put it in setup mode? it says in the instruction manual how to program it and everything.
 SINGH09 7 points
i just installed the gyro on my heli and connected it to the Rx... but when i connect esc to battery its not responding.. i mean no flash or anything.. but with red plug in, blue LED blinks for 2 sec and than again nothing... :(
 France 26 points
ok you should have 3 leads coming of the gyro. the red plug is your gain and that should go to channel 5. the black goes to channel 4. and your rudder servo get connected to the mape servo plug. just sounds like you don't have your wires connected correctly. try that and see. also before you plug your tail servo you need the choose the correct frequency. this is all explained in the manual. hope this helps
 SINGH09 7 points
no no.. i plugged the wires to the right channels black to 4 and red one to CH5 (servo unpluggd) but on powering up, its just the blue light fast flashing for about 2 sec.. and then the light goes.. red light is not even coming.. M using a FS CT6B Tx.. it doesnt have a gyro toggle switch... does it matter???
 France 26 points
yes it does. the way to program the gyro is by toggling between heading hold and rate mode :( using your tx. Not familiar with this radio but I don't think you can with this radio since you can't adjust the gyro gain through your tx.
 SINGH09 7 points
My Tx is same as HobbyKing's:(HK-T6A-M2)It has a Gyro gain switch, its not actually a switch but a rotatable knob on the upper right side of Tx.. Can anything be done with that?? :p
 France 26 points
Maybe try turning the nob real fast back and forth when you initialize the gyro? I would look at your tx manual and if it says anything below 50% on the nob is rate mode and anything above is heading hold mode. Just a shot in the dark here though as I'm not familiar with the radio. sorry
 SINGH09 7 points
yeah! just see if you can do smthing with that... thanx fr the support man.. :)

Can I use two of these gyro in fixed wing? One for ailerons, and one for elevator? There were no manual for downloading in files tab? It was empty?
 abdulahad100 363 points
For some reason HobbyKing has removed all files from the files section. To find the manual google "Assan GA-250 Manual".
 Liteson 27 points
Hi, why using 2 or more heli gyro's? For only 15 bucks you get a 3 axis stabilizer(OrangeRX RX3S) which suits perfect for fixed wings...
la mouette  140 points - 3/30/2013

CAUTION: To set this gyro Assan-250 ... it is essential to connect a servo DIGITAL! But after adjustments, we can connect to a analog servo, no problem. Excellent result steering installed on the "karting 1/4". Rapid accelerations perfectly straight!
 alfonsoirwin 34 points
Hi la mouette. I'm trying to install this giro on a Losi TLR 22 rc buggy, with a M11 4 channels radio... and I can't adjust the End Point, or Dual Rate.. It works, but I only have like 20% os steering travel.. Any idea of how to enter the setting mode with a car radio? thanks.
 la mouette 140 points
For use in karting, I removed the gyro Assan to plug it into a normal radio with a digital servo. Following the instructions Assan, I parametered gyro for maximum travel left / right and in the right direction. Then I replaced the gyro to the servo with a ordinary karting, and it is perfect. By cons, my radio with steering wheel does not control runs on the third track ... So the gyro is still setting up! It still works, but at high speed in a straight line ... karting waves ... I did not find trick to limit the output of this third way ...
 alfonsoirwin 34 points
Thanks la mouette.. I think i got it.. I'm gonna try that and I let you know.. thanks again for your help and your early response.

No files under the files tab!? Where to find the newest manual???
ca_mousse  26 points - 3/25/2013

Yes it is a head lock gyro. Has two mode : rate and hh. If gyro gain > 0 (or >50% for spectrum), mode hh, if < 0 (or <50% spektrum), gyro in rate mode.
levanat  5 points - 3/25/2013

Is it head lock gyro
 Kyran 1 points
It is my understanding that "head lock" and "tail lock" gyros are the exact same thing. Just some brands prefer to call it one or the other. Locking the tail of the heli will lock the head too.
 France 26 points
Yes, this gyro has both heading hold and rate mode depending on your transmitter you can set (usually channel 5) switch to toggle between hh or rate mode. which you will need to do anyways to set the parameters of this gyro. hope this helps

I've been purchasing these gyros for 6 months now. In July there were software bugs that needed to be worked out. ASSAN has solved every issue I could find and the product is (as of December 2012) a rock solid MEMS gyro with incredible hold and minimal (if any) drift. If you have older gyros .. from last summer ASSAN will reflash them for free...you just need to ship to them. THAT IS TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SUPPORT!! I did this to 9 of my gyros and they now are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Great product and a great price. Put on the aileron servo they will give you the ability to fly with greatly improved stability in windy conditions. I have no qualms flying my .40 sized aircraft in winds of 30kmh when this gyro is holding the roll axis stable.

I've tested the ga-250 with the hd 3688HB as tail servo on hk450gt. I do sport flight, no 3d. I felt a really a rock solid tail, with no bounce and no drift at all, that created instantly a really good feeling with the ely! It's very easy to setup once you read the manual, or just watching setup video on youtube. The performance of that gyro with the HD servo are the same as the gp750 ds520 that i use on another hk450gt, i won't buy a gp750 again, i will buy a ga-250 instead, same perfomance and a lower price, this is unbeatable. Assan has done really a great job.
