Hi darren, You need a DC power supply putting out at least 150W with an output voltage 11v-17v. You can also use a car battery with the included clips. Cheers, EA!
I'm using a 240v to 12v 7.5 amp power supply that I have for a car fridge, and a cigarette plug adaptor from ebay for the connection, works fine for home. I use the plug in the car or a motorbike battery with the clips at the track.
I've used this charger for near 1 month. Have done 20 charges at most. I use 2.5A to charge my 5000mah batteries. "Short Error" start to happen a lot. I wouldn't buy this charger, If I took a look at the rating and the negative comments carefully. Next time, I will just go with Turnigy or iMmax.
Got my HK ECO8 today and it's awesome. Great to be able to charge my lipos and nimh's and see what is going on when charging. Went with the LogView 2 software and it works a treat. So far have only charged 2 x 7 cell NiMh packs up to 1300mAh and a couple of Lipos to 850mAh, works great!

Can this charge multiple battery packs? I have several 8S battery packs I need to charge simultaneously. How many can it charge at once, and what effect will that have on how long each take to charge?
Yes, you potentially could but multiple 8S packs on a charger with a max charge rate of 8A and 170W is going to take a looooooooong time. You'd be better off getting a bigger charger, even then its going to be a slow process. What size packs are they and how many?
no it comes with xt60 to JR adapter as well as a xt60 to JST-XH adapter. It would not be difficult to make an adapter but it does not come with deans style plugs.
Just received a package today including this charger and 2 Zippy and 1 Turnigy batteries. All the batteries are using 4mm Bullet-connectors while the charger only has xt60 connectors. I'm new to RC. Please help, is there any way to solve the problem without soldering? Thanks
Hi guys would you believe i only ordered one of these a few days ago and here it is in my hands, very impressed with the aussie warehouse, even with the season holidays still arrived. Any way back to the product it self, have charged/balanced several 2s and 3s batteries and no problems , works a treat, fantastic value for the price, i was a bit hesitant with reading some peoples reviews, but ordered one anyway, glad i did, and again even with the xmas season still managed to get it in 3 days, fantastic hobby king.
I even bought one of those Turnigy twin charging harness, plugged it in, attached 2 3s 1800 batteries and charged them no problem.
The ECO 8 7a 8s Charger does this balance will this charge my 5000 2c lipo batterys also how much is the power supply and will it plug into a normal house plug socket Thankyou
You do mean a 5000mAh 2Cell lipo rather than a 2c charging rate? It will charge/discharge and balance. You will need a power supply, a laptop one will do nicely.
I am looking for the 8cell leads that connect to this, i use it to charge my electric wheelchair lithiums, and need more as other people want to buy them too...any chance that you are able to supply a pack of 10 8cell leads for this in your parts listing ? Cheers
I have just ordered a pack of 10 3cell (four wires) and a pack of 10 4 cell JST-XH 20cm leads(five leads) I will use them together (just trimming the locating pin on one side) Four wire Five wire = The nine lead connector needed for an Eight cell battery.
WARRANTY ISSUE. I bought on of these from Australian Warehouse and found after a few charges that it will not balance or discharge any of my lipos. It will charge but do none of the other listed functions (yes i checked all settings). When i put in a request to return the items HK in OZ they tell me i must return to China... If i bought it overseas then id be cool with that but i bought it locally. I don't know how this can be fait let alone legal. HK, you website STATES that your warranty procedure is fair and fast but in reality it seems unfair and troublesome!
This is not a balance charger.
The add says balance charger but it has no way of controlling individual cell voltage during charging.
I had one Li-ion cell go to 3.9v and no alarm no shut down nothing. You have to watch each cell the whole charge process. False advertising
Daniel i plug my balance lead into the charger while charging and i balances the cells fine..
my HK wattmeter balances to .001 and after charging i use this and it very rarely has any work to do..normaly just shows finished balancing. so i am a happy chargerer lol *}

Got one of these as an entry to 6S electrics, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Very easy to use, comprehensive instructions and several adapters as well. I've used it with 2S, 3S and 6S LiPos as well as NiMh and it's done a great job with all. Only thing I could pick is the volt meter is not as accurate as it could be. Checking against a multimeter, it's up to 0.02v different to what the charger shows. Not much, but it's there. Not enough to worry about for me, though. Seems to balance charge very well, too.

I recently purchased 3 of these chargers for Christmas presents.
Two of the chargers operated correctly, one of which has been used continually for around a month and has performed very well for the price. It consistently balances 2 cell LIPO packs to an indicated 4.17v each (confirmed by multimeter). Also seems to have breathed some life into a few old NiCad’s and Nimh packs after some cycling.
Unfortunately 1 of the 3 chargers was faulty out of the box. The left half of the LCD display does not illuminate, thus making it useless.
The cost of returning the faulty item to the required address was going to cost just over half the initial cost of the charger so I have cut my losses and will replace it with something better quality.
The bottom line is it is a good charger for the price if it works but there are obvious quality control problems. If all 3 chargers operated correctly I would happily rate these items with 5 stars as the features and performance of the operational chargers is excellent for the price.

Bought this charger about 2 months. I've charged 3s and 2s Lipos lots of times with no problems. Good instruction manual explaining all functions. Happy with charger all round, highly recomend for the price
I haven't really mucked around and put my fluke onto it to check it for accuracy, but my batteries have yet to explode whilst on charge. I'm also willing to take a wild guess that if you're buying it from here, you don't really require your cells to be charged within a mV of eachother.
