Update on the 500 CMT 3/30/13
Finally got a nice day to get a flight check out on my newly built 500. Did a test hover inside some time ago. Well second battery about 11 minutes in the air the tail shaft right side spacer and or bearing gives up and I lose the tail. heard it go and was heading back for a landing when I lost tail control. Got it down softly but the skids grabbed (it was spinning) the concrete and it tipped hitting bladed. No the belt was not too tight, I guess just ****ty bearings tail shaft. Losing a tail is a big one so you might consider getting better tail parts right off the bat. Ordered a new Align tail shaft and new bearings MR684ZZ 2 sets one for tail and one the tail drive gear assembly. Hate to lose tail!!!
hello I wanted to know if anyone knows tell me the components needed to completere this model HK-500CMT (TT) 3D Torque-Tube Helicopter Kit Align T-Rex Compat. I need everything including your remote control.

I wanted to know if the Kit of HK-500CMT (TT) Torque-Tube 3D Helicopter Kit Align T-Rex Compat.
comes complete as the HK model figures-3D Electric Helicopter Kit 500GT (incl. blades and extras), given that the photos do not show all components.
Expect an answer.
Please, could anyone tell me the differente between the HK500 options here?
There are HK500GT, HK500CMT, HK500..TT models and others.
I'm beginner in Heli but I wouldn't like to buy a "begginer option". Something including 3D for acro purposes.
Thanks in advance.
the differences are for example in the construction of the tail rotor. i bought myself the 500 cmt-tt verion for beginning and it is now almost ready for takeoff (i´*m a beginner, too) I think for a beginner it makes no difference of how the tailrotor is connected to the main rotor. This is for professional purposes.
Thanks a lot for your answer. I'm going to buy HK500CMT (TT) 'cos "gear" in tail rotor it's fragile but spend less battery (power) and it's good for beginner. Gerar is better than belt because is faster in spite of the fact belt is stronger.
The CMT is more upgraded than the GT. For example- CF frames, Alluminum head and tail. The CMT TT is a torque tube that drives the tail instead of a belt. If you're just a begginer i would get a belt because TT strip as soon as you touch the tail.
here is my setup and the cost hope it helps
Turnigy Typhoon 500H Heli Motor 1800kv (500 Class) $31.60
Hobby King 401B AVCS Digital Head Lock Gyro $11.99
Turnigy MG930 Digital Metal Gear Servo 3.6kg / 26g / 0.14sec $13.99 you need 3 of those
BMS-820DMG HS High Performance Digital Metal Gear 9.2kg/.09sec/45g $31.59 thats my tail servo
Hobbyking YEP 80A (2~6S) SBEC Brushless Speed Controller
Turnigy 3000mAh 6S 20C Lipo Pack (Great for T-Rex 500) $25.72
Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories $22.99
hello, i have the same heli as you and i am using the BMS-820DMG HS High Performance Digital Metal Gear 9.2kg/.09sec/45g it works like a charm!
Weight: 45g / 1.60oz
Dimensions: 40.5 x 20 x 37 mm / 1.60 x 0.78 x 1.52 inch
Torque At 4.8V: 9.2kg/cm , 130 oz/in
Torque At 6.0V: 10.6kg/cm , 142 oz/in
Speed At 4.8V: 0.11 sec / 60° at no load
Speed At 6.0V: 0.09 sec / 60° at no load
torque tubes tails tend to vibrate a bit more then the belt tails and if u strike your tail blades on the ground with a torque tube set up your more than likely going to strip your gears which means $$$ saab use them on there goblin range and thows things are animals
Hi. I have one with a Turnigy 500 1300Kv Brushless motor, the ESC: Turnigy 85Esc with 5A SBEC. MG 930 fo cyclic and for the tail D26013MG 29.7g / 2.4kg / .08sec High Speed Micro Servo. I don`t do 3D and i get 12 minutes flight time. I didn´t go flybarless so i can´t tell you the difference. Please credit me if this is useful
TT stands for Torque tube. Insted of using belt, the tail is powered by a tube. One of the main advantages is that you have less friction and you´ll get more flight time. Better tail response is another effect. Buy the CMT version. Comes with more metal to make it more durable
You must limit the servo travel, use the potentiometer on your gyro, labeled with "limit" or something like that. Are you new to heli? Then you should learn more about setting up your gyro and tail control. There are many things u can do wrong. There are a lot of "how to" (videos too) available in the ****
Thanks for your reply. No, not THAT new. There are indeed some ways, but so far not a single kit I put together had such an issue. Today I received an align tail pitch slider for replacement, see if I get more clearance this way. In the current situation to prevent binding I have to adjust the travel so that max travel is around 5mm from side of tail unit to tail pitch slider. That s too much for normal ops. Also had a horrible mesh with tt gear to tail drive gear. With some frame mod this could be solved. I let you know if the align unit solves the tail issue.
Thanks again for the thinking. Everything looks ok. I found some time today to replace the pitch slider with an align part. As expected, it s smaller and problem is solved. Mechanically it looks safe n sound now just gotta wait for the iceage to pass by for the maiden. All in all im excited about the quality for this price.
Quality is good, that's my opinion too. Don't forget to check and secure all screws and add grease to the bearings. I've got a lot of fun with mine-and even more fun with a body mounted on it.
Good luck for the maiden.
The kit is nice, so far first impressions are good. I own an Align T-Rex ESP Superior Combo so I am comparing the two. Here is a video of what is in the Box http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9jmrI3ArdQ
Also I have a post of the electronics for this kit listed here www.link
I must say that for 1/4 the cost of the Align this is the heli I will try stunts in first.

Got mine yesterday. Very quick shipping with EMS (only 5 days from HK to Germany).
Here is what I can tell till now:
- Everything well packaged, no damage to canopy etc.
- All parts seem to be a of high quality, but of course, this is only an impression after a quick inspection.
- Rotor parts are not greased at all, hard to move everything. I will take some time to prepare everything as it should be.
I will give a more detailed review after my first flight, but one thing is sure: For this price a great quality. So 5 stars!

This is my second review after building it completely.
Here are the Pros:
- All important screws were factory srew locked (Loctite or similar).
- All parts fitted well together
- After lubrication of Rotor Head and Tail Rotor parts everything moved nicely
- Blades are well balanced
- The Torque tube was not perfectly round, causing some vibration during the first run. I tried to straighten it by hand, no success. So I baught a Align spare part (~ USD 12), now perfectly running.
- No battery strap in the box.
All together this product is at least as good as the original Align 500. Regarding the price its a great buy!
