HOBBY KING HELI KITS AND PARTS ARE GARBAGE. GO TO ANY POPULAR CHAT ROOM LIKE HELIFREAK AND YOU WILL FIND THE TRUTH. HOBBYKING DOES NOT EVEN WARRANTY THEIR GARBAGE. FIND OUT THE TRUTH BEFORE YOU SPEND A DIME. FLIGHTLINE MIKE
I bought an HK600GT, It flies really well, was easy to assemble and yes I admit I had to replace a few parts for Align parts but I still saved heaps of cash over the Align and as I stated it flies really well and takes abuse well! What do you expect for the price? I will buy another one.
Hobby Partz**** has a decent combo for $49.70...60P-DY1019-450-Helicopter-Combo. I put this on my HK 450 GT and it works nicely but I would suggest getting a tail servo such as the HobbyKing 929MG Metal Gear Servo 2.2kg/ 12.5g/ 0.10sec. The one in the combo pack are plastic geared.
Can anyone recommend an esc, gyro, servos and motor for this heli? Cheap as possible and with links, also if possible. I've never built a heli before and I'm just looking for a cheap option to practice with. What else would I need? Any wires or other accessories?
Use youtube they have great build tutorials on this heli Not all of them link the parts they used but it will show you all you need and how everything should be installed and set up then come back to HK and find products close to what they used. Other than the electronics a swash plate leveler would be a plus for you I think they are 6$ just search swash plate leveler and get the 450 not the 450 pro it will make your setup a lot easier and a more stable flying heli .
Thanks. I'm looking at both this version and the full alloy version and was wondering if they came with usable blades or any at all.I was also wondering if the extra money for the full alloy is worth it? I don't want to spend the extra money and not need to when all I do to fly is hover or slow flying.
Yes,this heli comes with a pair of plastic type material blades, most probably ok for testing and training but personally would change them fairly soon to glass or carbon ones.As far as balancing they should not be far out but it is always best to check them for balance before flying.
Oh I thought that power was determined by the voltage and run times were determined by capacity. I was more concerned with if a higher capacity (more than 2200mah) would fit in this chassis.
Plastic blade holders are probably better than metal as far as coming loose. Screws seat much firmer in plastic than metal-to-metal* trust me, I know. My HK450's anti-torque rotor came apart because it was built without lock-tite. Thank god no one was hurt. Now I put lock-tite on all metal connections.
I want to by this product HK 450 V2 What I need to complete?
What size of servo, motor, can I use brushless 3550, ESC 35A
Transmitter four or six channel I need. Thank you, sorry to ask you again.
Trinh
Servo size most 9G(grams)Metal Geared servo. I like the Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2215H Heli Motor 3550kv (450 class). ESC 35Ato40A. You will need six channel TX and Head Lock Gyro. Hope this Help.
You will need 4 servos. 1 for the tail and 3 for the head. If you are going to be flying any 3D, I would highly suggest the higher end 9g servos. Some of the plastic gear servos wont be able to handle the stresses of 3D flight. I use all metal gear servos on my 3D helis. If you are going to be just "putting" around the yard, the plastic geared jobs will do fine. Good flying!!
Dont waste your time with plastic, especially as a beginner. You will crash so much as a new pilot, and the servos are the first things to go. Buy metal, and they will outlast the airframe that you will no doubt destroy while learning to fly. If you buy plastic, you will be buying more next week.
4 servos- most any 9g (gram),htx900 are popular
seed controller- 40 amps,i like the purple tower pro
a gyro-401b is prob most popular, ga250 also a popular choice
a 2200 30c lipo battery
a 450 size brushless motor from the heli subcategory in the motor section.i like the e500
Is the HTX900 a suitable choice for even the rudder servo? What are your thoughts on the MG90S? It is a hint heavier, but it is metal geared, and even has a faster spec at more torque! And only $5 each!
I run a turnigy typhoon 450h 2215 with a 12t pinion, 3 HXT900 servos and a futaba 9257 on the tail. Towerpro 40a ESC, 2200mah 25c lipo, HK401b gyro, orange rx with satellite rx. The HXT900 is way underpowered and too slow for the tail, ok cyclic servos. I fly scale not so much 3D
That 9257 was an option that I was looking at as well. It seemed like it was going to be too large of a servo for the requirements. I also will not likely be doing much or any 3D activity.
Hi! I live in Hungary, and we use the metric size screws. I would like to know that the size of the screw you used to assamble the frame of this *helicopter its really 1.5mm hex screws or I should use imperial set hex (allen key) srewdriver in size: 1/16?* This is larger a little bit than 1.5mm , 1/16=0.15875 centimetres. This means 1.5mm metric set allen key will be loose, and wobble, with 1/16 screws. ?
What BLADE/GRIP combo comes with this and are they compatible? GT003 blades and the polyethylene grips came with mine, that's not a match. Is what you received in the box originally flyable, thanks?
I bought the same kit and at s***l up heli was very unstable. Blade grips were a plastic composite. Not sure of the kind of blades you have because mine came with black plastic ones. I immediately changed them to 325mm Carbon Fiber Main blades (450 Class, corrected pitch and settings and was flying in no time. Be sure you have your pitch set correctly because you will have a lot of negative pitch that will make it seem like the heli is stuck to the ground when you go to take off. Any other quest
I built it for under 80$ and it flew... not great but it flew. With some upgrades all from hobbyking it can do 3d flight for CHEAP! Dump the blades it comes with and get carbon fiber, fiberglass or wood.
Could someone describe their complete setup on this heli? I fly planes, but for the price I am considering buying this model. The only problem is that I know very little about the onboard system. If someone would just describe what they have (motor, servos, esc, battery, gyro, ect.) I would greatly appreciate it (And award you 20c) :)
I would recommend a 40a esc with separate bec, 3800 Kv motor, metal cyclic servos, 9g which can be analog but 1.8-2.2 torque, digital servo for tail less than 25g and gy401b gyro. rx/tx is up to you and your budget. I just bought this too and that's my setup. 2200mah battery is good.
absolutely. But I would swap out the blades for CF once you get to that point. Also recommend to switch your bec to 6V to get the most torque and speed.
Almost all heli's have a brushless motor that requires a ESC. It also needs a gyro to keep the tail still, needs three servos to controll the the swash plate that makes the heli go up and down and lelf, right, forward, and backwards. Basically in all directions. You will also need atleast a 6ch reciever and transmitter. to choose what what you need go by what the manufaturer recomends or buy a RTF heli. Hope this helps
Well for thoose of you that have got this at the .01 shipping price, lucky you. Still can't get it to add to mine without the international shipping box being added. Have tried to add other heli kits and they show .01 shipping just haveing problems with the HK450 V2. While waiting other things I wanted are going out of stock fast. Guess sometimes cheaper isn't always better. Hope they fix it soon or think I'll be done with HobbyKing.
I've been trying all week for that offer too, I wanted to buy 4 of them, anything I try to order from the usa warehouse shows there high international shipment selection. and no ups rates or selections
To Get 4 shipped for 1 cent **** add 1 to your cart, then go into your cart and change the order to 4 and hit update ** then proceed to hit the BUY button, and 1 cent should be there. Hope it works for you - I just did a test and it worked. Let us know
Seems to be an intermittent problem with browsers. This happens in both Firefox and Internet Explorer on my PC. Clear you cache, cookies, etc, then (like MACKdaddy wrote) add 1 to your cart and change the qty to 4. Else, if you have an XBOX or PS3 with internet browsing capabilities, it works without any errors.
Well, Thanks for help. Ended up ordering a 450GT. It's on backorder but not in a hurry. Mostly wanted to get batteries on the way and new charger. Shipping is only $11.99 for 2 ea. V2 so can get them later for spare parts. Have a MT enroute from international warehouse with another order. All is well, now wait and see if everything arrives in good condition. PS, still can't get shipping to work on laptop but tried on my phone and shipping was calculated correctly.
They should be tight enough to stay out horizontal if the chopper is held out in front but loose enough to fall if you shake it - this is important so they don't fall all over the place causing imbelance on s***l up and down and ensures they can self align to the correct balance in flight to avoid vibration
There is what they call "lean & lag" with the rotor blades. They need to be able to move, not to loose nor overly tight where they are hard to move or can't move. You should tighten them enough where you can hold the heli on its side and the blades stay straight, but if you give the heli a light "shake"the blades will move downward. You should move each blade by hand and compare the "force" needed to move each blade and adjust so they feel about the same. Hope this helps. Coy
there called blades not wings and they should be just so tight that there's just a little friction between the blades and the blade holder so you can fold them easilly by hand , enjoy the experience af rc helicopter flight
When you tighen up the blade they should be tight enought that when you stright the blades out (as if it were s***ling up), then take you heli and hold it on its side. Then bounce the heli up quick, the blades should fall about half way down.
To Get 4 shipped for 1 cent **** add 1 to your cart, then go into your cart and change the order to 4 and hit update ** then proceed to hit the BUY button, and 1 cent should be there. Hope it works for you - I just did a test and it worked. Let us know
I have been told and has worked for me, tight enough to be able to hold the heli sideways and the blades stay level, but loose enough to fall down when you give it an easy shake downward.
Snrgevo - I just added 4 hk450 v2 usa warehouse to my cart and went all the way through to the shipping. Mine has .01 cent shipping. Sorry you aren't having any luck
Dustin
Good! Don't forget to go through them with a fine tooth comb and locktite all metal on metal screws. And replace the tail blade screw with one of higher quality they have been know to shear apart on the first flight during hover!
DK
There is no UPS shipping available (let alone $.01 shipping) for this product in the USA warehouse. Something is seriously wrong with their database. Been trying to order 4 of these for the last 3 days. When is it going to be fixed?
I think it is built on the same platform as the EXI 450 3D Ver.2, which is made with light weight aluminum. This Heli and the EXI both got high marks and great reviews. I've just purchased this Heli and can not wait for it to arrives. I hope this helps.
yes, this model is, i have several of EXI, ALL PARTS ARE COMPATIBLE, BUY THIS ONE AND THEN BUY THE EXI METAL HEAD AND TAIL FOR $39.99 GOOD TO GO WITH A GREAT MACHINE
As much as I've read on this Heli. The HK450 Ver.2, EXI450 Ver.2 and T-Rex450 Ver.2 are about 95 compatible. Both the HK450 and the EXI450 are clones of the T-Rex450 just a lot cheaper. hope this helps.
Yes its compatible with the EXI VER 2 450. The 450 PRO is NOT comaptible with the V2 EXI or HK.
The HK 450 pro IS compatible wit the EXI 450 PRO.
Really there are two versions The 450 PRO and the V2. The V2 is OLDER. The 450 PRO is the best flying helo on the planet right now!
Is this compatible with a esky belt cp 450. v2 New and don't know if it is what I need. Looks cheaper for spare parts that I seem to need alot of. THANKS
I don't know about the esky, but a lot of parts from all series of Align 450 will fit this model perfectly. I ordered one of these kits and the only thing that is not Align is the stock frame, tail boom, and landing gear. Align parts are not that expensive either through your local hobby store.

I have purchased 3 of these kits and the quality is very impressive for the price. If you are a new to helicopters and looking for something to start hovering and doing some basic flight with then these are a good choice. I have placed 2 orders for these and in both cases they have arrived within 4 days of the order date. Nice job HK!
This kit is great for the price. I bought it out of the USA warehouse and it arrived with in 2 days. Build went really fast with not one stripped screw. I took apart everything that was preassymbled and added blue locktite. Only concern is the main gear is a little out of round but I dont think it is going to give me any problems because I orderd this kit to just do sport flying.
