Designed as a 100cc gas engine replacement, this motor is a great alternative for 3D and sport planes up to 35lbs!

The motor is very well built with strong mounts, end bell and a concentric double bearings at the rear to support large propellers and rotating can, especially during hard 3D flight.

This motor is very well engineered and of the highest quality.
The factory can produce only a limited number of these motors per month due to the increased time in balancing and machining such a large object.

Whoever has this motor working please let me know if you feel any resistance when trying to turn rotor by hand unpowered? Feels as if there is a jerky friction between rotating parts or in the bearing... Is it a problem or is it a result of the motor magnets "cogging" ?

I do not own this motor. Ive found on some smaller turnigy motors that the windings came up over the laminations. It was similar to what you are feeling. Maybe some dirt or broken magnet?

so there is a new electric glider and it uses a electric motor that only pushes 20hp it looks as this would be enough to keep us up in the sky on a full size glider but they are towed up first then they fly around one and a half to two hours. one wheel i was thinking of buying one but the electronics were to much now with this one i may be able to afford it but i also may want to run 2 motors for this i need to do some real thinking and saving but i have put so much into this hobby now i want to do both. opinions are welcome. i want to build the weight shift trike hang glider. would you use two motors of this on a real glider?

Yes that is correct. But they are hobby power figures. Your output power is likely to be about half of the quoted power. A 7.5 kW electric vehicle motor would probably give you the same power out of the motor. You would melt the motor if you tried to run it at 15 kW continuously.

Fair call Phil, but would you speculate the peak output to still be well below 15kw?

Goran You wouldn't be able to run it for an hour at full. It would fail You could however run it half power for an hour or so You would need to change the load so it pulled about 80amps still on Max volts So you would be looking to use 80 to 100 amp battery packs Lol....

Best quality in build and look I've seen at hobbyking so far.
Mine has a no load current of 10A at 13.8V and 22A at 44V. Almost 1kW losses without doing any work. I'll try to use a 36V 400A controller which needs hall sensors.

Bought this motor to my Sikorsky S16, 1:3 scale. It looks grat and well buildt. Not tested it yet, but it will give me approx 27 kg thrust with 5000 mAh 10S2P Lipo and 32x18 Mentz prop. (Motor Calculator). Will write more when I'm tested
