How the telemetry works ? is this recevier ppm ?
 v_max 4353 points
No, it's digital binaty stream. and It use frsky proprietary binary protocol... and intended to work only with frsky sensors hub and frsky sensors set onboard side and with frsky telemetry dispaly on gnd side. I'd say absolutely useless thing except one thing... it has low signal alarm simple alarm buzzer is build in TX module so you do not need any other frsky addons to get low signal alarm... Well. to be precise you can use Er9Xfrsky version of firmware on turnigy 9x with some hardware mods of Tx controller to get frsky telemetry on t9x screen.. but onboard you have only one analog input (for voltage sensor) on RX and digital port for telemetry hub..Not too much sense as it can't be used to passthrough any other arbitrary data stream.. like fata from flightcontroller...

No, the receiver is not PPM.You would need a PPM converter, like this receiver module is not capable of telemetry, though you can bind it to a DJT and XJT transmitters.
 v_max 4353 points
Forgot to mention This module is telemetry capable. But receiver not.. For telemetry you need D series receiver (frsky one with D as first letter in product name) And this receiver do not have PPM output. If you need PPM and telemetry with RSSI alarm the best choice is d4r-ii receiver. Other rxes with PPM out are D8R-xp and FrSky Delta 8 Unfortunatly this TX module is not offered separatly except in DIY variant (PRODUCT ID: FRTEL) so this combo remains the cheapest way to get DJT module.

i want to buy a reciever to above module (for a quad). telemtry, sbus - suggestions ? thanks !
 v_max 4353 points
Are you sure you need sbus? or you need combined PPM ? Most flight controllers can easy handle PPM but not SBUS (APM,MPNG,Multiwii)..
I'd reccomend d4r-ii with cpmm
This is my favorite one. If you need SBUS then SBUS ones are X6r and X8R

Does this work with the Turnigy 9xr model ?
 v_max 4353 points
Yes. For my taste this is best combo for 9x and 9xr you can get.

Sorry. I'm a noob with this. Would it work with my taranis? Thanks
 v_max 4353 points
Yes as any other. JR type module. This one is perfect choice if you do not need telemetry.

If I bought this module- would it still work with my existing hobby king Recievers (HK-T6A-V2) and Turnigy receivers (RX-9X8Cv2)? or would I have to purchase all new FRSky Receivers for all my planes?
 v_max 4353 points
No.. this module use ACSST protocol. t9x module use AFHSS protocol. It's not compatible. This tx module compatible only with frsky D and V8 series of receivers (ones with name starts with D or V8) If you mod your stock module moving antenna mount on module then you can easy swap modules for use with your old receivers untill you replace them all. I replaced all of mine with FRSKY receivers.. It's awesome over 1km range and stability is undeatable, plus it has failsafe feature and RSSI alarm (for D series), I'm happy I got rid of HK's and t9x ones.

Thank you! I appreciate the detailed answer. I plan on modding my TH9X- I'll change over to Frsky. I'm having (signal loss) issues with an FPV setup.

The best way to be thankful is award points for best answers... Happy flying.

The JR 3810 is the same radio as the 8103. For marketing reasons it is labelled as the 8103 when sold in the USA, and as the 3810 everywhere else. Modules are interchangeable. The numbers stand for 3 model types, 8 channels, 10 model memories. So yes, it will accept the FrSky module.

Guys, I been using this modules since their first beta system , and I can tell you is the BEST SYSTEM YOU CAN GET here is the main Thing I can say:
a) True FHSS system (equivalent to Futaba FAST Frequency hopping)
b) True Fail Safe setup (and easy to setup)
c) Range test perform in our clud give better than 1.2 miles and this under heavy noise (we had 5 Spektrum and 5 Futaba systems ON plus one wireless system plus a noise generator on the 2.

c) Range test perform in our clud give better than 1.2 miles and this under heavy noise (we had 5 Spektrum and 5 Futaba systems ON plus one wireless system plus a noise generator on the 2.4GHZ spectrum) and the system perform w/o a problem.
d) Very tolerant to low voltage (put down the voltage under 3V and still was working)
In few works VERY GOOD SYSTEM, much better than any DSM system (Like Spektrum DSM2 or Corona DSM etc.), Ve
