Hydraulic Conversion Kit for 2 Wheels Air Up/Down Retracts.
Hydraulic Conversion Kit for 2 Wheels Air Up/Down Retracts.
The Hobbyking Hydraulic Conversion kit for air retracts is designed to eliminate often unreliable air operation for oil hydraulic operation, just like a full size aircraft.
Operating at a pressure of up to 10bar, driven by an electric pump, sticking retract legs and retract failure in flight through air leaks will be a thing of the past, while retract speed will look just like the real thing.
There is no need to change you retracts as the system will operate with your existing units, this system simply changes the operating system (replacing your air tank, actuator valve & fittings), the actuator is the same type as your existing set up [servo operated] and an additional, adjustable control unit determines the length of time the pump runs for each stroke of the retracts (up & down) to ensure reliable operation and locking up/down of the actuating rods.

I NEED BRSS BARBS OR REDUCERS FOR MY NEW HOBBY KING HYRAULIC CONVERSION KIT TO PUT ON MY RETRACTS DOES ANY IDEA WHERE I COUI BUY PARTS FOR KIT MY E- MAIL IS CASEYPATRICK1*COX**** THANK YOU FORM hARRY IN THE uas PS- LINE IN KIT IS 4MM ON MY RETRACTS IS 1/16?????
HYDROLIC WILL DILIVER MORE POWER THAN AIR. But i dont see the point in useing this when you can go with electric , or air. These can get very messy or leak from the sylinder, you never know.
Will there be a kit for 3 wheels?? This is definitely a very nice feature to convert air systems to hydraulic and get rid of the tiny difficult to find air leaks as oil will seal them and will be much easy to detect case any leak!!
Mustang Sally, When I have a slight and i mean a slight undetectable air leak on any of my retract/brake setup, all i have to do is inject silicon oil in the system which is meant to lubricate O rings which have somehow dried out a little to make them seal again and become leak free. It is well understood that using this system if you have a detectable air leak would be disastrous in a model airplane. The idea is to test setup with air before installation in a model and if all is well convert it to hydraulic and place then proceed with installation. Rgds
I wonder if you could use antifreeze in stead of oil. It will not rust and has enough lubrication. It would be a little messy if it leaked, but not as bad as oil. It Still would be extra weight though.
The two downsides to this are
a) the additional weight of the pump, motor, and Hydraulic oil.
b)remembering to consider how this can effect the planes balance
It is great to have a third option though.
The biggest downside ,try to take a part the wings with retracts in giant scale ,this is only one time install or you mast take the air out and refill the oil .
If there are "quick connects" for that system then it would be easy to take it apart and probably a lot less messy than a typical glow engine. Unless you have a leak then... I don't want to find out.
Ok 300 grams for the system, 400 grams of oil, maybe 20 grams of wires and zip-ties,and 60 grams of extra lipo. It just keeps adding up. "Wow" My new years resolution was to lose that extra weight. Come on HK give us some big bullet proof electric-retracts. like all the little planes are now receiving.
I imagine there being better uses for this than retracts. RC cars for example, could use this system to raise and lower ride height on command.
This also looks like a great way to add liquid cooling to a given component.
nather down side is you going to have a boody mess if there is a leek ha ha ha ,how do you clean h oil from wood or in small compartment. i dont think is very wise when you can use electric now for the price and simplisity of electric, thjough there are not meny that produce giant scale electric retracts.
Exactly my sentiments ! A reliable & cheaper alternative to eflite 60-1290 retracts would have been a better choice. Unless, of course if you want to built that scale airplane out of real aluminum !
This system is very good for all large scale aircraft. It is nice and scale like movement and on my big dollar turbine stuff a lot more welcome than air if there is a leak you can still lowewr your gear and not get any damage from gear up landing as with air. if you do have any leaks you can see it and if you have built your aircraft properly and sealed the woodwork than you will have no problems in cleaning any leaks found, the only set back is bleeding when setting up but using festo taps as a joiner for wings make sense as well as air indroduced into it does not cause any problems.. I have 4 set working in my models and will order again..
Excellent system but requires reducers to fit airlines to the retracts. Works very scale like and is very reliable. No more air leaks!!! I would recommend it for any 50cc and up warbird. Weight might be an issue on smaller birds.

These are great and I have been using them for a long time now on my jets, best piece of advise is to use sewing machine oil as it is a much better viscosity.

I must agree - this system is working perfect. I use it on my FEJ F-15 and it is performing perferct all the time. I prefer to use 4,8 volt battery, the operation seem so scale and with this pack you will take off some strain on the electromotor when locking

Lots of adjusting to get the system timing working. Expect to tinker, but that is normal with any retract system. Can be converted to work for a tri-gear setup. Ths is very easy ... Use one line for the nose gear, and the other line can operate the mains by putting a T connector in the second line to actuate both mains at the same time. Pretty simple!

I have instaled this sistem in my plane, it did work for few gear rotation and then quit working. Did this hapen to anyone else?? One more negative coment, not enough line.
