1.What is Idle current?
2.It is given here ESC 60A, does that mean that the maximum current that can flow thruogh the motor is 60A.
3.Also what propellers to use ....... basically how to calculate the lift or thrust due to the motor?
Please help....
950W seems pretty low, especially only on 4S. I run my T600 1400kv (4030) on 6S at 180A (about 3.5Kw). Anyone given this a try in a boat/ EDF application?
I want to use in aircraft, what prop should I use and what battery?
thank you very much
deseo usar en avió*n, qué* hé*lice debo usar y qué* baterí*a?
muchas gracias
What airplane model do you plan to put this into? This BL was specifically designed for helis. The shaft comes out from the base and the bell end where you would normally attach a prop adapter has a cooling impeller. You might be challenged in mounting as it has to go behind either the firewall or use an extended motor mount.
Guys can I use this motor on a PLANE? I got it cheap at E B A y and was hoping to us it on one of my give away planes. I am worried about the flat spot on the shaft???
the flat spot is for the pinions which don't carry much load, if you want to put a collet get one with the grub screw that fits the shaft and run the smallest prop possible for the least load on the shaft.
So why are these so much cheaper on E B A Y? They are listen under BUY Now and are cheaper with free postage. They are meant to be being sold by Hobby King so why give a better deal there than to us there customers????
Well it seem you are correct I just checked. I am no longer a loud to but from HOBBY KING E B AY a long story but I can still check. AU $16.71 Postage $6.85 which is a bit cheaper. But what can you do. Who can you ask!!! Happy New Year.
Hay I was going to buy one of these. I have plenty of 4 mm adapters. They have been 4mm for months every time I checked them. Now I want to buy they are now 5mmm. What Gives??? It is the same picture come on!
Sally do not be mad with Hobby King. This is my fault. I got one on Eb ay Hobby King last week. Till then everyone said they had a 4 mm shaft. Before it arrived I also bought (else where) I bought a 4mm prop shaft for it. Well when I got it it was not 4mm. It is 5mm. Well 5 mm is a better motor you just have to but the correct adapter. Mind you is you just use it what it is meant for a Heli you have no problem. I hope this helps.
Lolo69 No sorry it was only for a short time. Each item was only available for a short to on the day it appeared. After witch it was done. All the freebes were only for pre Xmas only also SORRY. I hope this helps
Yes sorry about that. I do not know if Hobby King will every change it or if they even care. This motor has a 5 mm shaft. It makes it a better motor but is a pain if you buy your prop adapter before you get it.
Hay girl these motors were offered as a freebe. But only is you spent a more than a $100. Also you need not to have items in your cart for international. Also you must pay the postage for the free item.
Yep Allison is right i got mine free with the last order i made which was over $100 and was International i don't think you still get it now though because the last time i looked it was a set of Helicopter blades, not sure now though.
Bacter if you mean E B A Y the yes. It is the same but handled by Hobby King E B A Y side. They have stock they a getting rid off. So buy either place the service will be good either place. I hope this helps.
Has anyone used this motor in a plane yet? i was thinking it might be ok to use in an EDF jet but i won't know until i get my hands on it as most of us get this motor for free i don't mind if it don't fit any of my EDF units as i'll find a home for it some where,so thanks for the free motor HK.
Startazz I have. I used it on a 58" trainer. it works well. I had to make my own motor mount and get a 5mm prop adapter for it. It is a 36 x 48 motor and I am running a 11.1v 5000 battery on it. I flies great but lands heavy. I hope this helps.
Thanks Kellyann i've got mine now and it's just a bit bigger than i was hoping but like i said i'll use it for something,oh and i've credit your account for the helpfull answer
Sorry Kellyann i won't let me credit your account for some reason and i've tried 3 times now, refreshing the page each time too i'll try once more though as it was helpfull.
So guy someone like me. I am sorry about that Startzz. It is nice to be of a help. Look it should be right and I know you may be to busy now. Any way Merry Xmass. THANKS
MMM That is a interesting question and I do know why. This is a Heli motor. So if you buy it as such the adapter are not need and just add extra cost and weight to the item. I can be used else where IE Plane. If you do you need can just buy the adapters here at Hobby King
I wouldnt use it on either. 1000kv - 4s would make a 500 boring and barly get a 450 off the ground. The 4mm shaft size is bogus for both birds. You would have to find a heli that is designed around this motor!
over 90% of You folks fly things, planes & choppers. i'm a boater, and this motor just comes in handy to be installed in a cheap chinese hull whith aircooling only. to my understanding, Heli-motor doesnt't mean, that it has to be installed into a chopper, it refers to that the front mount option is the only choise unless You use a cage adaptor. well, most of my models have to run in salt water, so watercooling is not an option, but oversized Heli-motors are, together with a car ecs, also aircooled. SO PLEASE DON"T BE CONFUSED, HELI MOTO IS A FRONT MOUNT ONLY MOTOR, but can be used in whatsoever crawls or fies or swims....

I guess, ARCDIRECT still has the hammer in his hand, which hit the nail!
In my VORTEX .46 Project, i wanted to by a 5055B from HK: after waiting 9 month, still not available, so i bought an Alloy EDF Unit 72mm for USD 90,** with about 1200W at 44.000 revs... Sound Ok, Thrust about 1,2 Kg, Speed Ok, overall appearance OK, but it wasn't a VORTEX any longer, and it needs flat water and more time to speed up... So i dicided to go back to the original design, with a 4260 600rvm motor at about same watts, but best probably will be a 5055 with 700rvm and 1565 Watts. Of Course i can't tell You the brand of my choice, as HK will kick me out, but try ae ol ian...

im confused... its a 1000kv motor rated to run on 4s AND its for a heli? how does that work a direct drive 250? smells like a failed experiment to me...
1000kv * 14.8 = 14,800 rpm at nominal. the problem here is the gearing options.
trex 500 with 162 teeth on main gear is going to need what a 28 tooth pinion to get into its correct rpm range for the kind of flight performance you'd expect from a motor rated at 950w (~2600-2800)? not to mention i don't know anybody that would run a trex 500 on 4s and expect much of it.
all im asking is what is this motor really designed for? the 250 heli thing was a ***r alcohol induced joke at best.
Both of these "x series" heli motors can't handle the voltage required for their specified application. Please see TrevJones' discussion thread. Om Tat Sat.
that would be because i clearly did not conclude it was for a 250. i simply mad a rhetorical question with reference to a 250 because of the odd specifications of this motor. i would think it very clear that a motor rated at 950W weighing in at 188g would not be used in a 250 size heli.
This motor might be a likely candidate for a Gaui 425 or such? or maybe a Protos with a Hi C Lipo eg 45-90 3000mah 4S on a 18T will give a HS of roughly 2600 > 2700 and probaly about 10 min flight ? this is of course if you only want to hover and sport fly, which is the case for most flyers when they start out and many are happy to fly like that (although I think they should all go buy big scale www.link
What do you think about using this for the FPV-UAV Composite 1.66m PRODUCT ID: HK-UAV01. Can the shaft be reversed? does it need to be? If not what would be a good motor?
This was a freebie motorfor me(add to cart once $100 spent)thoght I had found a use for on my t-rex 450 5 blade main and 4 blade tail needing a lower head speed but alas motor was too large to fit 450 frame and mount. The shaft is 5mm not 4mm as listed, the motor is 47mm long and 39mm diam. It doesn`t look like the shaft can be reversed so planning on front mounting in a plane. the motor has good build appearance and spins up nicely balanced with no load over half throttle the electrical sing is quite load but runs fine.
Got it for free (HK christmas freebies). I don't know what to do with it yet but We all can always use a motor in a while :) It's wery good for plane with big prop. Doesn't have to be heli.
Very Very nice motor. I wish everyone to know that this does not have a 4 mm shaft. It has a 5 mm shaft. Now this is not a bad thing unless you have bought a 4 mm prop adapter to use on it.
