can this flexi shft fit on the hobbyking pursuit boat and if you could please give me a list of all the hardware i need to get this boat going excluding all the electrics
Hi Md Saifuddin, NO..shaft ini terlalu besar utk outboard Hornet F1..Saya membeli shaft ini tahun lepas tetapi setelah ianya sampai, saya dapati ianya terlalu besar dan untuk maklum awak,Hobbyking tidak mempunyai spare shaft utk Hornet F1..awak perlu membelinya di website lain atau eBay..hope this help.
Sorry but the propshaft is the entire unit but this connects with a stinger and that is where the prop connects. A prop does not connect to this unit. The 5mm is the shaft's diameter, not the size of the prop fitting. the stinger's diameter can vary.
By rights there is no real Universal shaft. Each shaft should be purchased according to the length you need. Other retailers may stock up to 20 or more different sizes. By cutting these you leave the ends open to fray and cause a mess to anything they contact. I have had to chop a few inches from a few but I always get a friend to silver solder the end to keep the strands together. In an emergency I've used a gas heated soldering iron and used standard flux and solder. Not the best way to go but it got me through the day. I've seen the result of a cut shaft used in a beautiful boat. The motor mount became loose and the shaft slipped out of it's stinger and the complete shaft just opened up into a thrashing machine and ripped the transom, hull, deck and all equipment nearby to shreds.
Try using a dremel or suitable mini die grinder with a cutting disc attached. Just tape the area to mark your spot to cut. You will be amazed at the clean cut without fraying. Please remember to wear eye protection.
Ken, once that shaft begins to spin it can't do anything but fray. Centrifugal force will cause the outer strands to open and unless they are soldered (preferably silver soldered)they will open. If you insist on using a bare end then make sure it's inserted into the shaft adapter near the motor. This will help to hold the ends together. Just remember to check it every time you go to use it. If the adapter becomes loose you could cause damage. I always carry a pair of spanners to keep it tight.
As long as it's long enough, no problems. If it's too long then neatly cut the excess off and get the end you cut silver soldered. Use the cut end in the shaft adapter near the motor. Take your time measuring it before cutting.

I would like to know if I can replace the original burned motor from my F-1 Hornet (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewIte m.asp?idProduct=14552)
for this one:

and If I can replace the original flex shaft for this one:

Will I need anything else to use this shaft?
It's 2 years since I modified my F1 but I'm sure the drive shaft was thinner than this. A 5 mm shaft would have problems bending as far as you need it to. The motor is OK but again I recall slight modifications had to made to fit it in. I used the shaft which came with the boat. I gave it a good bath in hot grease, let it cool and then gave it a thick covering in grease. Make sure you give it extra greasings at regular intervals. Personally You should save your time and buy the new outboard HK have for sale. It's a bargain at $70.00 and will solve all your problems. I've ordered one even though the boat is running. I'll transfer the old one to another hull.
I planed to use as a spare part for my surge crusher due to it look like strongly than other local part now. However, I'm not sure when part will arrival to Hobbyking store because long time it was backorder Thank

Here is my review. I never purchased this product because it was never in stock but there is already 3 phony 4 & 5 crown reviews posted so I posted a 1 crown review to cancel out those. This review system is a joke.
