I also need to replace the motor. Has anyone put a different motor on?
Anjay  31 points - 1/5/2013

I need to replace the motor, i have seen a few under "bell type" that looks the same mounting but which is best suited? Preferred if available in the UK warehouse. Thanks.
Brenden  1 points - 1/1/2013

this plane is not worth your money it don't fly in 2/3nots of wind and the cg is out would not ever buy another one of these and will be telling everyone to stay away from this plane
 Anjay 31 points
I have one of these and did struggle at first.
I added some weight to nose also increased the wheels size and it fly's ok now. cg is just in front of the aileron control rods now. But regarding flying her you will need a bit of rudder to make it turn nice.
There are easier planes out there to fly but once you get to know her in my opinion she's not bad! :)
 RC Venado 17 points
I'm flying it and it's nice, any model you purchase you must take care in cg. Always keep an eye in wich battery does the manufacturer use to adjust cg, using other brans or types will make cg change.

what battery would everyon recomend
 Anjay 31 points
I use turnigy 3s 1300mah Nano tec from HK it fits in the front.... just! But I also changed the plug on the esc for a Deans type XT60 connector to fit the plug on the battery. Easier to get battery with xt60 then the little red plug came on mine. The battery was available from UK warehouse so was fast delivery for me, check your nearest warehouse.

hello! what would be the engine used in aircraft for the case of substitution? thank you

Hi. I have this plane, recommended prop is a 9x5, is there a problem with using an 8x5 prop? Local hobby shop gave me an 8 inch long prop instead of 9 inches. I understand the motor has to work faster to achieve same speed... will the motor be OK? Thanks in advance.
 CrashAce 797 points
the smaller prop won't affect your speed (if the motor was over work with the 9" it may even slight increase your speed.) What the small prop will do is reduce your thrust. The motor will run cooler with the 8x5 and you should also get increased flight time.
 Joel 17 points
thanks thats good to know. :)
Amos  19 points - 5/5/2012

What shaft do I need to replace the old one ?
I get vibration on low speed of the prop (after crash with throtle.......).
 Kellyann 16220 points
Amos 3mm in what you need. I just make my own out of old CD Rom. In side every old CD/DVD rom are 2 3mm shafts. I hope this helps.

 Joel 17 points

 glenn_mech 288 points
buy your own rx and tx..if you have tx already then all you need will be the compatible rx for your tx..

Just setting up the plane ready for what is hopefully a good flight (sill trying to get used to it - it's a fast little plane) and wondering if someone can tell me how far from the leading edge I should put my fingers to check c of g? I think it's a tad bit tail heavy but if I move my fingers back 3mm it looks ok. I just an exact distance. Thanks in advance
 ralphi 9 points
CG should be from 1/4 to 1/3 the width of the wing from the leading edge but I would go rather closer to 1/4. Try and than make some corrections.
 Tran Nguyen Minh 43 points
The CG usually at the most thick of the wing , about 1/4 or 1/3 wings at ralphi say. In fact your CG can be lose 1 centimeter not exactly still ok. Remember that nose heavy is better than tail heavy very much :)

Nice use of a bellcrank
 munsaf 290 points
It's still branded Dynam on the box. It's a nice plane, bought one for a friend who wants to begin. That plane, the 4-channel 2.4 HK radio, and Turnigy packs, the cheap way for beginning. (Discussion here should be about the plane, not about someone who does't find something interesting in the big choice of models HK is offering... who cares ?)

I think it has already been asked, but why is the weight 2139g? Is this a packaging weight catagory, or what? Surely it should be less than 1kg?
 Lownfast 68 points
The aircraft weighs less than 1kg ready to fly. 2139g is the shipping weight. Mine arrived arrived from HK in pristine condition due to the double boxing they use. It is this that makes the overall weight seem high, but it does appear to prevent any damage - better to pay slightly more for shipping than to open the box and find a damaged model.
 Joel 17 points
OK, thanks.

hi can someone please confirm what replacement props to order?
 Rcforme 210 points
9x5 prop.
 Joel 17 points
9x5 is the recommended prop
 glenn_mech 288 points
it says 9x5 but it does not tell if it is APC,TGS...etc...just look for hardware and accesorries tab..then click "propeller."there so many choices of 9x5..

I have one of these. Its now one of my favourites but not without several modes. Firstly the motor mount is weak, replaced with a much tougher mount (HK 10mm stick Mount). The wing bracing spars are pathetic as is the small sprung loaded clip which secures the wing. Removed the braces and put a Carbon rod in the wing(2-3mm should do). Also used dowls through the fuselage and rubber bands to hold the wing on(seriously the wing came off in flight before). Bigger wheels look better and is better on grass. Also move the CG forward a touch, if there's a bit of wind this makes a big difference. Removed the bell cranks and fitted HXT900 servos in each wing, there is enough depth for them and now the response is way better. The old bellcranks never centered. Original motor, esc, servo's are all good. This is EPO and a tough plane with a few weak points. Yak

Why hide this good review in the discussion section? One typo though: several mods, not modes.

I received a 18 amp ESC,not 25.

The plane includes an 18A ESC. Is this OK for the motor? i need to know if a higher amp ESC is needed. Thanks

battery compartment size PLZ?

I have one of them and I put into it a lipo 3S 800mah flightmax... For bigger Batts, you can to drag under the nose a little, but it is not necesary with the batt I said you. A good good plane, true!

1300mah 3s 20c only from Hobby King!!:)
 Joel 17 points
Thanks, I could also use a 25C also. How would this compare with the 20C? Would there be a noticible difference between them, in power, for example?

It's not a "tired old idea" if someone wants to get into this hobby and doesn't have money to burn. Look at the big picture, and not just your own interests. Great idea HK. Wait'a'nurture the new generation!
 fanny 511 points
I'm so ashamed Neil! Your so right of course. Let's all aplaud everything HK puts out. That will make for a facinating discusion section won't it.

As you've bought one Pam, perhaps you can let us know the battery compartment size (as requested by other customers)or is that not a suitable topic either? Any chance of a review please....?
 Joel 17 points
And on that, please can you give me the specs on the motor. That is, voltage, kilowatts, and amps. Thanks, I need to know if the 18A ESC is suitable for the motor, or if a 25A would be better. I plan to use a 25C 1300mah in this plane, if possible.

1 thumbs up!
This is a good little plane. I didn't use the wing struts I put a 1/8 X 1/4 inch deep saw cut full length of the bottom of the wing and glued in a 1/8 X 1/4 spruce spare. Works great!

There is not uneasiness of strength because Strat has easily adhered to the installation of the main wing either.
Because the movement of the aileron was hard, my plane changed to two servo type.
Because it is not possible to turn only by the aileron, it is necessary to add the ladder operation.
I think it is good for beginner's step-up because I am not in excessive power.

I have had two of these and they are a very good flying plane. They should be a good beginner plane but they are far to fragile to be used by a beginner. The wheels fall off, landing gear cover break, struts are far to fragile and most of all the wing attachment pulls loose (thats how I lost my first plane). Replace the quick release with a bolt.
