This issue happened with three different receivers and two different models. Also can this radio be set for PCM instead of PPM ??
 v_max 5601 points
The radio transmission between tx and rx has no relation to PCM or PPM it use DIGITAL protocol over 2.4GHz band (same band as WiFi use..) So this no way can be related to your problem. The only place where PPM or PCM is used is a signal encoding on signal wire between tx controller and TX module... And finally .. Turnigy 9x stock module supports only PPM signal encoding. With PCM setting on TX controller TX module would not work... As for your problem.. stock t9x TX module and RX set is low quality and has poor reliability... In most cases it starts fault at 300m .. in bad cases less then 100m... If you want to have bullet proof system use FrSky DJT module with any of D type ACSST frsky receivers. "FrSky DF 2.4Ghz Combo Pack for JR w/ Module & RX" is a good one to start with. I forgot about any RC signal loss problems since replaced my t9x tx/rx with frsky set. With my typical range less then 300m I never had RSSI less then 80% ( I have RSSI level indicator on telemetry channel ).. Happy with it...

I was having very bad control issues with this receiver and the TGY 9x radio in Europe. There was only 8 other models running at the time and in it would lose control for a short period of time 1 to 2 seconds max before I could regain. is there A better set up for this radio as far as module/receiver. I was no more than 60 meters away from the model. Range check said everything was good but when running with the other models at the co**** would cut out. I was able to get better control after getting the antenna outside of the model. Also is there a longer antennae for this receiver. Radio is 1 year old.

Hi Kevin, I had the same experience a while back and put also initially suspected frequency interference. After further investigation under magnification it appeared that the antenna solder mounting on the circuit board was compromised due to the engineering design of the receiver causing my particular issue of loss of control. Suggest to open the unit to check, mine required a simple resolder and full range and control was restored. Hope it helps, happy flying.

will the Turnigy 9X 2.4GHz 8Ch Receiver (V2) function with the 9xr radio? If not which receiver will?
 v_max 5601 points
9xR radio is MODULELESS, it do not have TX module, so you need complete set of TX module and RX ... This RX is only compatible with t9x stock tx module (or FlySky FS-RM002 module)...

Hi V_max. Are any of these modules sold on HK. I've got 3 receivers and they are not compatible with the Turnigy DSSS module I got Thanks to NewToHobbyKing comment on the module's discussion page. Thanks in advance. Luc
 v_max 5601 points
no, not on HK... but is HK only seller?
 Luc 16 points
thanks a lot, I just got an FrSky combo and it bound right away with it's supplied receiver. To bad I lost a week and a half due to a misleading discussion. Best Regards.

added to my wish list on other site. Thank's a million V_max.

Frksy tx/rx has awesome range, quality and reliability.. Much better then poor quality of turnigy/flysky AFHDS sets.. I'd advice it from the begining, but question was about THIS receiver and compatible module.
 Luc 16 points
Yes. I got the DJT module with the V8FR-2 receiver. I don't need telemetry since I have OSD on my multi-rotor so I went for the less expansive combo. I got a spare receiver so I can retire my DEVO7 from my trex 450. It has an IKON fly-bar-less system with an auto level flight mode. Using the special functions in the 9XR-Pro, I will program an auto recover mode using the channel override functions linked to the trainer switch to switch all R E A to center, Throttle and pitch to 80% and force auto level on. Last time I flew this, I tried to demonstrate to auto level to a friend and confused the flight mode switch orientation. Fortunately, I was high enough to recover. With this TX, I shall eliminate this confusion.

Luc, in fact frsky telemetry is obsolete and useless (at leadt for me as I also use OSD on pixhawk...) BUT it has 2 very important related features. First is RSSI out on RX .. usufull for feeding RSSI input on flight controller And second is low signal alarm. just out of box via module build-in buzzer. Both features are available only on D series (telemetry) receivers. That's why I prefer D series receivers..D4R-II reflashed with 27ms firmware to be precise.. It has 8ch PPM out ... also missed by v8fr... A bit smaller and lighter.. Perfect for any multirotor with PPM in l

I am very satisfied with this unit ... I ordered it like five, and five operate.

how do you lose the range of 100 m? you have made several tests?

At the range I could be tested only 3 for now but the three were perfect (almost invisible models) ZERO problem.

This module weight 19grammes. if we remove the box and two screws, its total weight is 9grammes.

it is also possible to unsolder the connection plate and solder directly servos wires on the rx ( lot of place, very easy ).The final weight drops to 7 grams

definitely a great product

For some time now I have it ordered, but not in stock. As well as transmitters. Excellent product at a reasonable price, but unavailable. I give only four crowns.
