I bought a turnigy 9x transmitter without a module, where can I buy just the turnigy module or what other modules will bind with this receiver?
 v_max 4558 points
stock module is not sold separately. You can find one on e b a y as many people get rid of this not best stock RF set.. I'd suggest you to get FrSky combo instead (Product id: JR-COMBO) it's really perfect uprade set for 9x.

Also you can get Turnigy DSSS 2.4Ghz Transmitter Module For 9XR / 9XR Pro (JR Configuration), PRODUCT ID: 9171000547-0 , but I rather prefer V-max suggestion.

Hey V_max where would I be able to buy this module combo. if here at HK can you please let me know the product code.
 v_max 4558 points
It's product ID is JR-Combo... but for some reason search by this id do not work... has no isea why... so the full title is "FrSky DJT 2.4Ghz Combo Pack for JR w/ Telemetry Module & V8FR-II RX"

I have Afro ESCs and I understand they don't have much voltage. In fact a suggestion was to pull the red wire and run on the signal and ground. Then I accerpted a suggestion to turn the three wire sidewise and only use the signal wires eliminating two wires. That all worked. But I am still wondering why the receiver didn't like the BEC.
 v_max 4558 points
First... Each ESC requires at least 2 wires (signal and gnd) otherwise you may get interference of high motors currents over signal. Second... The problem is that kk2 has very strange powering ... on port M1 5v pin power KK2 (and this will power receiver too). But m2-m8 has separate 5v rail so connecting power to any of this ports do not power FC and RX. For me looks good way to leave 2 escs with nonpulled wire. One to power FC and other to power servo. One connected to M1 port will feed KK2 and RX and other one on any of m2-m8 ports will power motor rails (and servo)

Yes, I arrived at this too. Some guys were running only signal wires and they are very experienced. But I didn't like it. The Afros are a special case. They are low voltage 20a. I replaced the pulled wires. I put the BEC on a spare m4 pins. I put the servo on m7 as I flashed the KK2 to steveis which has that option for a tri. But the servo still doesn't work. It had to have 5v at 25a from the BEC I think. It is upside down on it's label now. I ordered another servo. I did see the servo work some time ago. But it stopped suddenly and I am suspicious I blew it out. Silly way to test but it will make that issue clear. I would like to know if one can detect activity on the servo cables with a voltmeter to isolate the problem further. I haven't tried yet.
 v_max 4558 points
Just check with voltmeter servo has 5v between 5 and gnd pins when plugged in. To be sure it powered. Second... check your config has standard servo frequence (50HZ) .. servo may not work at high freq settings...Third. It's hard to check output with voltmeter... at 50Hz (20ms period) full pulse width deviation is only 1ms ... so measured voltage change 1/20 of 5v = 0.25v when channel value changes from min to max. Also as this is pulses so you need to use RC filter to measure average level with digital voltmeters... or use old style mecanical voltemeter which integrates itself... Well.. anyway the best way is to check signal oscillogram with osciloscope...

So as with many complex electronic devices the only practical way to test a servo is against another servo.
SDODD  9 points - 2/17/2015

Yes i have done that and nothing happened. But I wanted to see if there was some output on the signal lead which could be measured to insure enough power was getting to the servo to make it go. But it looks like it is dead. But that doesn't make much sense either as they rarely burn out for nothing. I am not sure what the difference between ESC and servo power is.
 v_max 4558 points
sorry.... I mean connect 5v BEC to free motor port... But... if your ESCs (electronic speed controllers) has built-in BECs then you already have power from this BESc on motor connector rails.

I am running a Tri on a KK2 board. I have had Turnigy receivers go out trying to power them and that frightens me. But the yaw requires a servo. So I used a BEC set to 5v / 25amp this time. I put it on the KK2 board batt pins but nothing. So I placed it on the Receiver c5 board input of the KK2 and everything started reacting except the yaw servo. That c5 should be used for a switch anyway. Are there any suggestion ?
 v_max 4558 points
just connect esc to free motor output port pins (5v and gnd ones)

Receiver connectors.(Basic type fix wing) CH1: Ailelon servo, CH2: Elevator servo, CH3: throttle servo, CH4: rudder servo, CH5: aux1, CH6: aux2, CH7: aux3, CH8:aux4.

I am very satisfied with this unit ... I ordered it like five, and five operate.

how do you lose the range of 100 m? you have made several tests?

At the range I could be tested only 3 for now but the three were perfect (almost invisible models) ZERO problem.

This module weight 19grammes. if we remove the box and two screws, its total weight is 9grammes.

it is also possible to unsolder the connection plate and solder directly servos wires on the rx ( lot of place, very easy ).The final weight drops to 7 grams

definitely a great product

For some time now I have it ordered, but not in stock. As well as transmitters. Excellent product at a reasonable price, but unavailable. I give only four crowns.
