45A is what you need for the motor, and your 2", 7 blade should work fine. The battery depends on your plane, but a 3s LiPo will do it, with at least a 50c burst discharge and 35c constant.
Agreed. I use the 2815 4800kv motor in the 10 blade Dr Mad Thrust 50mm EDF, and it pulls over 33A on an old 50% storage charged 1250mAh 11.1V pack. I also have the Hoaye 51mm 7 blade fan but I haven't put a motor in it yet. I suspect that these are not very far apart in the power department. Use the lightest ESC you can get to offset this motor's weight. I used a Turnigy Trust 45A, which is a bit too heavy, and due to the tight space, the main power-in wires run along side my receiver and I had to wrap the receiver in aluminum foil to block the interference when the motor starts. I've never had interference before this speed controller. I have used Mystery ESCs with good results. If you ever find that your motor startup or throttle advancement results in momentary shuddering, adjust your timing and switching frequency settings and try it a few times. If did it again I would go with a Castle Creations ESC, and while they are expensive, they weight very little and are efficient enough that they often do not need heatsinks. I'm going to see if I can upload a pic of the motor in the 10 blade fan. Hope this helps.
Nope, you need a 40A (minimum) ESC for this one. I would recommend 45A, for the headroom. 700g of thrust is no problem for this motor with a 65mm 5 blade fan, and a 3s 1850 should push it 5 minutes on a good jet plane.
I haven't really tested it that extensively yet. I have another motor in my 64mm T-45 and this one I got so I can test it, rewind it with a higher quality and purity, Bulgarian made, copper wire and compare the results. If you put too much strain on it with a higher blade count impeller, you could end up with even less thrust at 40 or more amp draw. Best case scenario is you have a well make EDF thrust stand for 64mm EDFs, and you have 64mm impellers ranging from a 3 blade to a 10 blade, and to test this motor with all of them.
Den Yusuf, This is a high Kv motor which works well with a 5 blade or 6 blade fan on a 3S LiPo, where it draws close to its maximum current. An 8 blade 64mm fan will draw too much current from this motor when you use a good 3S LiPo and its life will probably be reduced
* Arxangel: hi, if I combine these motors with 40A ESC, nano tech 3s lipo battery 2200mah 35-70c, would it be fine my friend? for the motor, if he is able to bring the plane with 800gr weight?
This combo will be good for the motor, the ESC and the battery, they will survive for a long time. However, as for the 800 gram model, I wouldn't count on this motor to do wonders with a plane of that weight. You will have to give a strong throw to take off, and it will NOT have vertical.
Your setup is reasonable, combine it with ID: HKEDF64 and I'd suggest to take not so heavy battery I fly the same setup on my jetiger with 1300mah battery and total weight 600g. It climbs vertical easily! While with 1800mah battery it cannot. This setup with discussed motor gives 600g thrust pulling 39A. This motor is great at this edge! But if you will try to get more of it you're definitely are going to kill this device.
*Arxangel:thank you for the information you have provided to me. Now I'm sure if the motor and the motor I would be fine if I use nano tech lipo battery ..
You can use it with any li-po up to 3S, although using with less than 3S would give very weak thrust. Also, since the motor draws 40 amps, make sure your ESC is rated at least at 40 amps constant current to avoid burning it mid-flight.
This motor will work well on 64mm 3s and 4s, although using 4s will limit the lifespan. also, you might want to look into getting a 2200mAh battery, as it will provide a much longer flight for not much more money
The 35-70c rating will limit the lifespan of the ESC/motor, as the coils/capacitors will be burnt out. Using 35-70c will more than half the life of each.
What is the logic behind the battery's high C rating, and the ESC and motor having reduced life?!?! The two things are not related, the high C rating on the battery shows that it could deliver more amps IF the motor can draw them!!! A high C rating is a good thing in every situation, because it INCREASES the life of your battery, especially in high load applications. What could limit the life of your ESC/motor is if the battery is 4S, i.e. higher voltage than the ESC and/or motor can take. This can fry both of them if they are not meant to be ran on a 4S, otherwise if the above battery is a 3S you can absolutely use it.
You certainly can, and that sounds like a good component compliment. These type of motors are typically excellent at staying cool in 50-64mm EDFs because the magnet and coil assembly are in the direct path of the airflow. If this was used in a gearbox, I would try to ensure it had plenty of ventilation. I hope this helps, best wishes.
Can I use this motor with nano tech lipo battery 2200mAh 35-70c, 30a esc, EDF Ducted Fan Unit 8 Blade 2.5inch 64mm, and plane weight 500gr?
Sorry if my english bad. thank you
nano tech lipo battery 2200mAh 35-70c - right mAh rating but max 25-30c......
30a esc - need 40-50a ESC (you can use 30 amp, but it will not last for very long......
EDF Ducted Fan Unit 8 Blade 2.5inch 64mm - yes, works great in my plane......
plane weight 500gr - yes, my plane manages with 655gr take off weigh on the same motor.
OMG, first, Den!!! state the battery pack cell count, the C rating is not relevant. This battery is fine for this motor as long as its not more than 3S, however you might want to change the ESC because the motor draws 40amps max, while your ESC can handle 30 amps, but this has nothing to do with the C rating of the battery. FPV pro, stop misleading people!!!
I have a 64mm Dynam F-16 that I just melted an unknown motor when I ran her on 4s. What would be the best motor to get as I plan on staying with 4s and using a 5 blade fan? There is a 45 amp esc already installed on this jet that would be very hard to get at to change out.
This motor will work in any 64mm fan system provided the weight is less the 850 ish grams (I am not familiar with the Dynam F-16, but this motor works great on all my other edf planes)
Mtg. Hole Number & Size: 4 x M2.5

I run these motors in all my planes and normally use 5blade 64mm 50a with 3s but I do run 4s on some planes but I don't run full throttle for more than 10-15 seconds. I haven't had any burn out yet and on 4s all my planes go vertical until I can't see them.
Hi, I'm interested in using it with a EDF Ducted Fan Unit 7Blades 2.5inch 64mm (item OR003-00108-7B) driven by 3s (11,1V). Any idea about the compatibility of this configuration? Current load? Thrust? really appreciated. Thanks. S
Imo a 7 blade EDF is far to torquey for this motor with a 4 blade i draws 40A a 7 blade fan would be roughtly 2 and a half times the amps so over 80A which will fuse this motor instantly.. Ps even with my 4cell lipo i keep the max amps to 40 bu restricting throttle % to 80% HTH
it was recommended to use this motor with a 7 blade fan. i have and i get tremendous thrust at not even half throttle. i never go full throttle though since none is needed. and i use Rhino 40c 3s battery. battery is warm and does not puff. so you can use higher blade but not consistently at full throttle. the fan has a nice sound too with 7 blades.
Hi Mikec,
you bet.
In the meantime I got a powermeter* with 3s * full throttle the A is below 35, the EDF has a nice thrust and the motor doesn't get hot.
The important thing is to remove the EDF motor cover and let the motor rotor to get the air flow.
Best.
Running THIS Motor (4800kv) an OK-Model 7 Blade 55mm fan on 3S (nano tech 45-90C). Measured several time on a RCLAnder 60A ESC and on a HK Plush 40A ESC it always draws about 30 - 31 Amps (measured with HK G.T.Power). So nothing of 80 or 100 Amps...
Yes you can use it with 4S but with a 55 mm fan only, be carefull with amps (better to use a 40A ESC and high discharge battery packs). I use this motor in the 50mm 6 blades from HK and my mini F18 is a rocket (but I only have 2min30s flight time). Very good motor for that price, I bought 3 units!
i use this with a 4 cell 2200 35c lipo and a 64mm edf i limot my throttle travel to 80% to keep the amp draw at the max HTH Ps i have this setup x2 in my A-10 kit Very fast
if u meen this one. T-45RTF T-45 Goshawk R/C 64mm EDF Jet EPO Plug-n-Fly 1 Reserved it haa this motor. Motor: B3830 Brushless Outrunner 4300kv so this motor at 28mm is smaller than the 38mm stock.. you could use it but u would be better off choosing a 38mm motor to suit
yes try an find a collar to fit between the motor and the edf shroud or some washers if u can't find anyhting else mounting it dead centre will be the hardest thing and dont rely on two bolts for edf to shroud mount drill more HTH
This motor fits perfectly into the stock shroud, i have mounted a five blade fan on it and it is sounding good. I have a six blade fan but am wondering if it will cope with six blades?
load current means with an edf how much is the maximum Amp that it can be efficient.
if you want this motor then you should buy a 40A ESC (with ubec) and a 3S battery that can give more than 40-45A (= Ah * C rating) that means your battery might be any of the following batteries: 4Ah*10C-or-15C, 3Ah*15C, 2.65Ah*20C, 2Ah*25C, 1.8Ah*30C, 1.3Ah*35C.
Hi, installed it with 60amp esc, 3s 2200 was not that powerful, on 4s 1300 excellent power, battery and esc quite hot. on Stinger64 55? confused at to optimal battery,
cannot specify, speed is ok but not that high, I dont think my 3s2200 is heavy for it, could try 1800 MA. but worried of using 4s, specs does not say its supported
Most likley Ur lipo can not supply the amps needed. upgrade to 65c or above example 3s2200 30c =66A PEAK. Amps drop off and lipos heats up in seconds if PEAK load is maintained
My motor is getting hot on no load after a full throttle run for a min. I'm using a 30A esc with a 3s 1800mah 30C. Any ideas on how I might fix it other than "hope i helped you :D"?
Well that's quite normal as there is no airflow around the motor. When you'd put it in your EDF it will cool down enough. Also it might not be a really good idea to run it at full power with no load. It could be having a too high RPM, with excessive wear at the bearings? LOL * the f*cking Ethan guy btw!
What kind of thrust can I expect when using a 3S battery, a stock 5 blade EDF unit and this 4800kv motor? I want to upgrade my HK Flying Shark (flying weight about 700 grams) but I'm rather new to this. Please help me to get some more speed and vertical performance! Thanks!
Hello guys, I wonder whats the best configuration for a speed control ... motor 2815 4800HK, put the engine in my jetiger with a six blades 64mm ... 3S 1800 battery heats up fast and ends fast ... I'm using a speed HK60A ... thank you
ur batt is prob 20 or 25c not enough amps geta 1300-2200** 3c 35c lipo and it will even go faster as well i use a 2200 4cell 35plus c batt on my upgraded jettiger i have crashed 20 times as this was my first edf i call it the splodge as this describes it shape lol *}
I use the same fan and motor configuration on the HK Mig 15 (64mm fan) and it is very good. The motor is very reliable and is still going well after a hundred flights. I use the Turnigy plush 60A speed controller (as the motor draws in excess of 40 amps)
and this is why your 3S 800 LiPo is getting hot. You need a 3S 2200, 30C or 40C LiPo. I am pretty sure that the Jetiger was designed to take 3S 2200. Do not use a 4S 2200, the motor is too hot for 4S.
Thanks.

hi guys iv put this motor and a 64mm 7blade fan in my phase3 f16 and a turnigy dlux 55amp esc.also i use a turnigy 3cell 35c-75c nanotech lipo.its puffing the lipo's the esc is running cool.
any torts what i could be doing wrong
thanks
ian
hard to say fer sure try setting the timing on ur esc to and bench test first *} ls buy a wattmeter.. hk have them for like 20 bucks so if it saves u 1 esc ur even HTH:} if all ok go to 6 blade efd or sand the impellers to increase the gap between impellers and edf housing wall :}
I was running the motor on low power and a strange smell appeared. somewhat like an electrical burning smell (but not exact)
Do you guys know what could cause that?
Does your motor speed controller combo still work? If not, it's probably your speed controller! Speed controllers generally work harder at mid throttle than at high throttle.
I have used this motor with a 55mm fan and a 64mm fan. I never checked out the 55mm it never gave me any trouble. My 55mm fan would only pull about 27 amps. It was a cheap 5 blade from a Electrifly jet. I soldered longer wires of equal lengths to my esc. I put the ESC in the air duct so it will get full air over it at all times. I have another one of these motors in my F16 with a 64mm fan. I had a fan with seven blades and it pulled too may amps on the watt meter. That does not mean that all seven blade fans are bad. Some have less pitch. After testing my motor with a different 7 blade and a six blade I am pulling 32 amps and the motor runs very good. If you put the ESC in the air duct it will never get hot. Use a watt meter you will not have any trouble. I am using a Turnigy plush 40 amp esc.
Jase,I have been running these motors for almost two years now with exelent results.set up is 50 amp esc med. timing, five blade fan 2650 30c 3cell I also use 2200 40c 3cell batts pulling in exess of800grms thrust just motor and fan on my test stand.high kv motor needs less blades
Forgot to mention planes used.eurofighter typhoon,f18,and airfeild f15.all planes have been around for two years now and still perform pretty close to my 70mm jets.hope the info helps
This is a superb motor on a 64mm 6 blade fan. However, it will draw about 50A on a 3S LiPo

Great Motor and very happy with them, however it took 2 days under 3 months for the restock and supply which more than takes the enjoyment out of shopping online.
wow. lots of thrust. great price. i liked the 2615 better (34a versus 39a, weighs 20g less but produces 60g less thrust [only 40g net difference])
