You need 3 servos for the swash plate and one fast servo for the tail. Google for "HK450 configurator" there you find a guide to the best matching parts to build this helicopter.
As soon as the package arrives at your door, LOL! Seriously, you will received a tracking number as soon as you package leaves the HK warehouse. Then it all depends on the good will of the HK post and your local customs office. I've received my orders any time between 1 week and more than 1 month.
Of course the HK450GT is better. It has most of the plastic parts replaced with alloy parts. The main frame is made out of carbon fiber. So the HK450GT is more durable. It costs more but it is defiantly worth the extra money.
I have been flying this heli for over a year now and fine the quality to be at that or even better. This hobby doesnt have to break the bank. This is great bird for a lot of 3d and scale flying. I have one for each and am saving for the 600 next!
The complicated parts are already pre-build. All you need to do is put the different groups together. And most important do the setup. Search on YouTube for "450 clone helicopter build", there you find a nice detailed video series on how to build such a helicopter.
It's parts and you need to build it yourself mostly. But there are several instructional videos on youtube how to build it! Just google "HK450 configurator" for your setup and then search youtube for h450 build instructions. You'll find plenty of information!
You need 3 identical servos for the swash plate. 1 quick servo for the tail. Google for "HK450 Configurator" there you find the best matching parts for this HK450 kit.
Estou querendo comprar esse Helicoptero. Alguem me indica algumas peç*as para terminar de montar ( Motor, Servos, Gyro e ESC). Obrigado.
I'm looking to buy this Helicopter. Someone tells me a few pieces to finish assembling (Motor, Servos, Gyro and ESC). Thank you.
Should I get the OrangeRx satallite reciever with this heli or will I be fine with just the reciever alone? I don't intend to do any aerobatics other than the occational loop and role.
A normal receiver will be enough. Due to the size of the heli you will fly it near you as it gets out of sight very quickly. So you should always have a very good signal reception so a single antenna will be enough.
I have this motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18231__Tu rnigy_D3542_5_1250KV_Brushless_Outrunner_Motor.html is it appropriate for this body 1250 kv is confused my mind?
No, this motor will not work. It has way to less KV. I recommend to google for "hk450 configurator" there you find the best matching parts for this heli. All parts can be purchased here at HobbKing.
The best Motor for this Heli is from my opinion
Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2215H Heli Motor 3550kv (450 class)
It has plenty of power and is quite cheap but reliable!
Thanks im only just starting out and are still mucking around setting it up but doesnt seem to last long will see when i get a decent flight how we go Cheers.
Can anyone tell me what the largest 3cell battery is that would fit in cowling and how much flying time i could expect i have a 3500kv engine the 2200mah batt i have at mo doesnt last long at all.
I get about 7-9 minutes from my 2200mah battery with a 3550kv motor. That is OK for a 450 heli. How much more do you want? I've seen a 450 from a friend that carries a 3250mah battery. But the heli gets very heavy and does not fly that agile any more. In general you want the heli to be light, so adding a heavier battery will not help you with flight time.
The more weight you add to the heli the shorter the flight time will be. So you need to find the sweet-spot between weight and capacity of the battery. For a 450 heli a 2200mah battery is about the best compromise.
Dear friend....
I have another question if u have the time to answer it.
choosing between servos (tail and pitch)what should I consider? in other words!! what are the difference between the to type of servos?
best regards
For the 3 servos on the swash plate you do not need to consider much. I use 3 HXT900 servos. If you do much 3D I would choose a precise digital servo as an upgrade. For the tail servo I recommend a fast digital servo. The tail servo should have much less than 0.1 seconds operating speed. Again you can safely take a look at the "HK450 configurator", there the matching servos are suggested.
Files are empty!!!
People there where some (recommended setup files) in the FILE section !!
I cannot find them anymore. Can someone help me to chose a proper set up to this particular kit...
Or if any1 have that file send it please to:

Thanks in advance
Thank you rgr.
I have another question if u have the time to answer it.
choosing between servos (tail and pitch)what should I consider? in other words!! what are the difference between the to type of servos?
maybe I can answer you, for pitch you need 3 servos that have at least 0.10 s/60°* of speed and 2 kg/cm, whilst for the tail you need a very fast servo, 0.05 s/60°*, more fast is the tail servo and more solid will be the tail...
You should definitely get one! This heli is a lot of fun. To create a perfect setup just google for "hk450 configurator" there you find all the needed parts here from HobbyKing you need to build this heli.
You can use the electronics, ESC, motor, gyro and radio. Nos sure about the servos, this kit need servos that are 12x23mm to fit in the frame. And if I recall correcly blades can also be used. The original Belt cp radio can not be adjusted by soft, you will need to do all of the adjust by hand, but it can be done.
You can use ESC, motor and gyro. The servos are too small for a 450 frame. And the radio is pretty hard to setup. Besides that I do not really trust the E-Sky electronics. They seam to be over-rated. I've seen E-Sky motor and ESC burning out when used in a 450 heli. If you want to go for a 450 helicopter I would suggest to buy the needed parts also directly together with the kit. They are really cheap. Just google for "hk450 configurator" there you find all the needed parts here from HobbyKing you need to build this heli.
......actually, i tried to do exactly this. all components should work in theory, but the issue is the motor shaft is thinner than most conventional 450 heli motors, so its hard to find a suitable pinion. So a different motor is necessary, then the issue becomes the ESC, which will be too low amperage for the "usual" 450 motors if you want decent headspeed. The servo's fit and will work, bit I wouldnt trust them with my heli.
.....oh, and also the esky gyros are rubbish,Hk offers a few "low cost" gyro's that perform much better, but at least the belt-cp Lipo's are usable on the HK450
Got my 450 in the air a few days ago for the first time. Less than two batteries fly time and the tail rotor grip came apart. Heli dropped about 15 feet, guess I'll be unable to fly now for two or so weeks. Highly recommend metal grip upgrade to anyone getting this model.
I agree gerry01, metal grips are a must, have already got them on order and will have the metal main grips ordered soon. do you know if there are any other common and or recurring issues with this model so as i can remedy it prior to it falling out of the sky and costing more?
The only other issue I have heard is the lack of thread lock in the screws. You have to check every screw in the kit. Other than that, never heard of another problem. I was worried in the first place about the main blades grip but it seems to be ok in all the kits I have seen. Thanks for the credit!
Hi, are this Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2215H Heli Motor 3550kv (450 class) and Hobby King 40A ESC 4A UBEC good combine for this heli with 9XR and orangeRX 6ch? I got some problem here.
As long as you get your parts from hobby king, you will continue to have problems. Get on a forum that is not hobbyking. Go to Helifreak to find out the truth about hobbyking. Flightline Mike
yes, that are the spare parts. basically you get one or two extra of each screw, bolt, nut and so on. So don't worry, these are intended to be left over :)
It doesn't come as a plastic spare part, just the "HK450V2 Main Rotor Grip Set", that is metal. If you need just the grip set, having metal for the holder is not a big difference.
I bought the DS-929MG servos for this kit. How does one fix them into the frame? Nothing in the servo's box helps! The servo flanges are wide and 'U' shaped - the holes in the frame are about 3mm - the fixings in the box are totally incompatible.
Thanks, I look forward to seeing the detail. The screws appear to be too large for the frame holes in my case. Also the cup washers are too long and would hold the servo away from the frame.
Of course, I may be barking up the wrong tree :-)
getting a little crazy on questions, I have the tunigy tyhoon 2215 motor for this heli, what is the appropriate size and length mounting screws for this. Thanks in advance.
ok, maybe i was unlucky but the tail boom needed to be cut to fit the tail rotor housing (see forum topic 'belt too short??'), also the screws are way too soft, i rounded off two screws and i was CAREFUL. The main gear was very slightly bent so i've replaced this with a trex one (i might of gotten away with it but replaced just incase). That being said would i would buy another? MOST DEFINATLEY, considering the price and the fact most of the head is metal. The main shaft, head and swashplate assembly are very smooth and there's no problems with binding. The tail gear pulley is metal and again very smooth. For someone with a bit of experience this heli is a fantastic deal and i suppose for the newbie, prepare to have to 'tinker' with the kit to get it perfect all in all a good buy and sent to the U.K within three days!!, thanks HK
I´ve received it. Everything is precise and works smooth, combination of metal and plastics (plastic parts - probably composite plastic - looks worse than HK450 V1 I think). Included pair of full plastic 325mm blades, looks exactly as Align basic blades. Main frame is the same as V1, but included metal tail shaft gear. Canopy holders are metalic. All parts are tuned to black/grey colors. Good work HobbyKing, this heli is winner for its ratio between price/quality!
what can i say low price good quality i dont do 3d with these but i use them in my 450 scale heli's and they work great i outfitted it with everything from hc and i had everything but the reciever trans for 122 shipped to the states excellent i now own 3 of these great deal hobby king
Pretty nice machine.Build went well except for some slightly misaligned holes in the bottom base plate, being plastic this wasn't really a problem i managed to get the screws in.I also did notice that the metal gear pulley/shaft that drives the belt for the tail rotor is bent a noticeable bit.The head is all metal except for the blade grips themselves, for the price this is definitely worth it i cannot comment on flight performance a sit is not ready.
This kit came in a much smaller box than I 'm used to with other helicopters, but it was packaged really nicely and all was complete. I purchased all the alu parts available with it, which makes it a really nice heli!!
