PLEASE!HK, Try and get this gearbox by it self, so that we can put our own motor on it, like the ap03, that way it would be a lot cheaper and people would not have to buy this setup just for the gearbox we are paying for both the motor and gearbox when some of us are just wanting the gearbox.those of you who want this could buy this, just sell the gearbox separately.please thank you.
i wonder how the ap03 3.1g single cell version with 7000 kv would do mounted on this gear box with the same pinion i would love to try it. iknow that the gear box gives 33% more power and the ap03 on dd thrust up to 44g so lets just say 40g 33%=53.3g> i would like to put this in place of the 8mm core less that come's on the umx extra300,all up weight right now is 32.5g, the stock motor 8mm core less weight is about 8g with the gear box. this motor and gear box is 3.6g> i looked this motor up without the gearbox and it is 2.6g, so the gearbox is 1g 3.1g witch is the weight of the ap03 the xp3amp bl esc witch is 1G and the propeller>gws 50*30 witch is 1.5g> so we have the gearbox * 1g ap03 3.1g esc 1g 50*30 prop1.5=6.6g verse the stock 8mm core less 8g =1.4g less plane all up weight would be 31.1 instead of 32.5.also I'm not sure what the 8mm core less thrust but i can hover at about 3/4 throttle so I'm guessing that it probably has a power to weight ratio of about 1.5g to every 1g of weight. with this new setup it should have about a 1.71 power to weight ratio making it well worth the upgrade although i think that it will probibly have more like 2 to 1 power to weight ratio this would be amazing. it cant wait to do this upgrade i alredy have the xp 3amp esc that will save me $10.00.this upgrade is kind of exspensive though, i still need the ap03 witch is like 17.00$ plus this gear box for 21.00 thats about $38.00 US not to mention shipping.
>*<>*<>*<>i wonder if this setup alone would perform better then the stock 8mm coreless on the umx extra 300. i know that it would be a big difference in weight,the 8mm coreless is about 8.75g,this motor is 3.6g your 3amp esc>1.0 =4.6 -8mmcoreless>8.75=4.15g difference. the umx extra 300 weight is 32.5g-4.15=28.35, so thats a big difference but in the reviews it looks like this motor's thrust specs are not correct so i wonder what the true thrust of this motor is.<>*<>*<>*<***ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL****
I dont know why the reviews are not showing up????
Details Motor Pinion = 12T Main Gear = 48T Ratio = 4:1 Pinion Type = M0.3 (approx same gear as walkera 4#3B tail gear, identical to E-flite blade MSR gear) Approx KV = 8000kv Motor Winding = 0.22mm / 31AWG Turns = 10 Turns Wiring Type = Star Motor Weight = 2.31g Gear Box Weight = 0.94g Main Shaft Diameter Bearing Section = 1.47mm (Stainless Steel) Main Shaft Diameter Pinion Section = 0.98mm (looks grinded not turned) Stator Section has 2 nice enclosed ball bearings fixed into the center. Main Shaft needs green loctite to hold into position with motor can/magnets Wires extremely fragile (dont sneeze or they will break)
Thrust is unmeasured but strong pull only tested by hand against the blade MSR and appears to be identical in thrust to the other 3.1g motor available, so estimations as per my dual brushless MSR video which was 60g thust, (This was not measured so keep that in mind) but I have played around a lot with these motors and also with the the MSR and my estimation would be rather close.
This gearbox for the motor is very bad: 1. It is easy to bend the main shaft. 2. The main shaft is not "hold" gear. 3. Bad bearings - no separator, and therefore when striking shifts the axis and there is a strong vibration.
Ideal gearbox for this motor GWJ 7mm 4:1 Gearbox www.link ideal shaft for the gearbox Propeller Shaft: Sukhoi (PKZ3528) www.link
Using this on 16" yak with: - GWS 5030 prop - HK 3A 1s ESC - AR6400 - 2 spektrum 1.5g servos - 350mAh 1s20c
AUW = 40g
I shortened the generously long shaft to reduce vibrations evident in certain throttle settings even on a balanced prop. Even though the stated thrust > 60g I found it a struggle to produce the thrust to hover a 40g AUW platform making the listed test results seem optimistic. The shaft is very soft and will bend upon any soft impact. Mounting this unit is also bit tricky.
Although people state this is the more efficient and powerful motor in its weight, next time i'd rather add plus1 gram and save $10 for an oversized direct drive outrunner to produce the same results without any of the hassles associated with this gearbox.
The specifications are very appealing but the real results are not as outstanding - not for me.
Im using this on a 32gram nano profile plane it allows me to do large controlled loops and prop hang with ease .I have struggled to get this sort of performance from a direct drive motor so well done Hobby City but Please Please Please get a toughened shaft for it as the supplied one is so soft and as such I cant give it 5 stars Prop used 5043 battery 100man 20c zippy
very soft shaft.. had to modify it to use it with 3A ESC and Ar6400, thrust just enough to hover my 39g YAK, but definitly more power than 4-Site's motor
This is the GPS-7 gearbox fitted with micro outrunner. Good points: Turns GWS 6x3@6100 on 1S Zippy 240mAH @ 1.9A. Comfortably prop hangs my O/D 35g shocky. Bad points: Noisy and very fragile - prop shaft is 1mm mild steel. Unit is far superior to D.D. 2S micro outrunner set-up but needs a purpose designed gearbox for motor.
Works great with my 31 gram White Sport Monoplane. Produces 25 g of thrust w/4.5X3 prop. TGY PD 3A 1S 1g BL ESC works perfectly with this motor system.
