hey all
im kind of new to helicopters setup. not so new , but i know most of the basics
my heli setup is
6s lipo 4000mah 30c
Raiden T20A-1700KV Brushless Motor for Align T-Rex 600 Helicopters
my question is, am i going to need a ubec for this setup ?
what i understood from the the speed controller specs that it outputs power to the reciver .
here are the specs:
cont Current: 80A
Burst Current: 90A UBEC Mode: 3A/5v out Voltage Range: 5.6v ~ 26v Weight: 91g Size: 88x31x14mm when i searched , i found that many of the guys here are using the TURNIGY 8-15A UBEC for Lipoly. with almost the same setup i have.
so, am i going to need a UBEC ( turnigy 8-15A ) for this setup ?
thanks in advance

You are going to need a ubec, a 3A ubec is not enough for the servos of a 600 size, also the 80A esc is too small, you need a 100A to be on the safe side, 600 crashes cost a lot.

Hi,
A 2 battery setup is the wise choice for this machine. you want to go for something like a 2s1p 2200mah lipo for receiver, it will allow 4/5 flight on the battery. |

im flying an align 600cf kit i put a torque tube and flybarless 3g on.
runnin the stock 600xl motor and align 75a esc does ok easy to bog though
for the electronics i use the align 1900mah 2s battery and a castle creations 10a bec set to run at 6v.
running off of 6s you can run a bec off the main battery but the heli is so big that you could put a dedicated rx battery on there and be fine and have some peace of mind

Trev what pitch range you running?
Might be worth upping the pinion to 11T, sucks the life outa batteries pretty quick but defo won't bog easily. |
