My dad has like $10,00 worth of bikes he is like a jet guy .. but with bikes lol. He has a couple of tires for his stationary bike that are more rugged. I will ask him the brand.

As a mad keen armature cyclist on principle I have to disagree with this whole Idea.
Is this for a Road/Race bike, Hybrid, or a Front/Full Suspension MTB?

I would not recommend trying at all on a Road Tyre. Hybrid tyres are better, as are MTB tyres, however a MTB tyre with the Knobblies are going to create dramas, On my Hybrid I currently Have Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tyres, and I highly recommend, them, a nice flat semi slick tread, low resistance, rated for 70 or 75PSI, I run 80PSI front and rear. I think a tyre like this will be good, as you have a decent amount of tread thickness, however being a semi grooved slick they will still dispel water, without the problems of large knobblies bouncing your motor around madly.

This might sound really bad, but is 40 fast enough, I pedal on flat-ish ground on a hybrid and sustain an average of 42 for sustained distances. No faster than pedaling. Go for a bigger motor IMHO

I just thought, this is driving the rear wheel?
I would mount it in front of the rear diagonal. Closest to your seat tube, if you mount it on the advancing side of your mount location it will have a tendancy to pull down into the tyre under load keeping its drive, and not slipping, the only time you should have a problem with wear is if the motor slips and loose traction on the tyre surface, and then it would be like hitting your tyre with a poly-fan (I am not sure what they are called else where in the wold however it is a disk for an angle grinder, with some for drills made out of a still base, and about 100 pcs of emery paper (Aluminium oxide sand paper, on a cotton reinforcing). Used to dress up steel aluminium and stainless to a nice semi buffed finish, or to remove a lot of material in a hurry.)

I think if you mount it on the other side of the diagonal brace, where normal clincher brakes are mounted, it will have a tendency to pull itself up and away from the tyre, and all that nice knurling will kill your tyre.

Can you not leave the motor engaged when pedalling as well and recharge the batteries or will the motor not act as a generator like a regular perm magnet motor would???? Maybe a lipo problem with charging too......

hey guys

some news on the friction drive front.

The wear on the tire isn't a issue at all.

The wear on the Friction barrel is the issue,

i gonna make and put some pictures here tomorrow.

i will try some other options, a new barrel made of hardened steel is in production and i will try thick shrink tube on the old barrel.

that was the negative point and now the pros

the real maximum speed is 49 Km/h and the acceleration is crazy. Cool
