Thanks for sharing, Ron.
I bought one myself last December, and haven't used it yet either. Please share your experience here when you have tried it. I tried one of the smaller ones (20A) in a 450 heli, but it always shut down after a few seconds on a kv4000 motor, even unloaded. It worked fine on a lower Kv motor, but I never tried it in the air. Hi there,
I have a Super Brain 60A in my Angel S30E. Aeolian 4250 600KV. Prop APC E 13x8 2650 40C 2x2S Zippy in row for 4S. According eCalc there shoud be max 35A current. According logging I have more than 56A. During flight with full throttle sunddenly it switches the engine off. Throttle back to idle and pushing up restarts the engine immediately. Any idea what to change or what do I do wrong? Edited by JoshyJS - 29/Jun/2012 at 5:36pm |

Hi JoshyJS, the problem you describe sounds like RF interference - the SB will shut off power to the motor if it loses signal, and when signal is restored, power can be enabled by bringing the stick all the way down.
I used to get some interference when I was running on 35mHz, but since using an FrSky 2.4G module and RX in my JR radio, it's been fine. You could try using a ring on the ESC RX lead, with about five turns, otherwise maybe try a separate UBEC. You may also be able to move your RX further away from the ESC. Good luck! |

Huhu.
The ESC sits completely alone about 10cm away from the receiver. ESC in front of the fuselage, receiver far in the back. In the meantime i figured out: When I set the ESC to Soft Cutoff it does not cut the engine, it regulates down. Here are some loggings: With Hard cutoff:
An with soft cutoff:
But the cutoff should start at 12V. But it starts at 13,2V. Far to early. |

Yes, I think you're right. What settings have you got for LVC? The default is "Standard", which is appropriate for 2S packs, but you should set it to "disabled" for 4s.

Yes, I just checked with my 80A SB - which to all intents and purposes is the same as the 60A, it just has more Mosfets (and I bought it instead of the 60A since it only weighs 2g more)
You could try setting LVC to 9v (3 lipo setting)since it seems like the voltage calibration on your unit may be off, if the logs are anything to go by. You might also experiment with different settings for current limiting. If it works with the lower LVC setting, though, you'll have to rely on timing your flights to avoid over discharging your packs. Edited by 2Doggs - 01/Jul/2012 at 9:44pm |

Hi All,
Has anyone tried to make a summary of firmware versions available? I think it could be useful, especially if we could also point out specifics of different versions. I have a Superbrain 60A ESC and it came with firmware DTKA 2528 11MB 6004. On the product page at Hobbyking (under files tab) I found these firmwares: DTUA A108 11MB 6000 DTKA 2111 11MB 6002 I'm not 100% sure, but I think these are older than the one in my ESC. Now, is there anything newer available? |
