Ok.  I Bought a Turnigy Outrunner 3536b and made an adapter to mount directly to my P51D-BL.  This motor works perfectly with my motor mount I made.

Just a suggestion regarding picking the right replacement motor. Measure your old motor and then start looking.

I read many times where someone is thinking of a motor that is shorter than there stock one (example is the T-28, Corsair, P-51 parkzone motors). This stock motor is about 41mm in length and there looking at a 35mm length motor.

In most cases you can get the spec's on you stock motor and then start looking for a upgrade. In most cases that higher Kvr and the same prop size will increase your current draw and now you need to consider a higher amp ESC.

Just my $.02 worth...

We just came across this French  site.

http://www.bungymania.com/bmdb.php

You will need to click on the "Union Jack" to convert into english language.  The charts are very accurate and the readings are the same as the ones we have measured on prop/engine/LiPo combination's we are using .  Let us know what you think.

ahaa you want somebody else to do the job for you? take the specs of the motor you want and search on the site for equivalents, that's how it works for everyone.

and I see you haven't even looked yet, otherwise you would have found this one:

too easy isn't it?

or even easier than that , the old school rule of thumb is 50 watts per pound for planes . just figure out how many watts per 1 horspower for nitro or gas motors . if you need someone to do the research for you i get 50.00 an hour , just send me money through paypal Big smile

There is only 1 thing wrong with your calculations on watts per poundBig smile

Most of the time you cant trust the manufactures ratings on wattage. They will measure the wattage by over propping the motor, causing it to draw max current and increase the wattage measurement to make it look better than it is.

I do it another way. I will measure the current, wattage and thrust of a motor, then match it to my planes.  I figure out what will work the best for the battery, ESC and motor so that I dont over stress any of the above 3. Change props untill I get a maximum thrust with safe readings for everything else.

My rule of thumb is 1.5 lbs of thrust for 1 pound of plane. It gives me a reserve power to get out of trouble if needed.Wink

If you can't trust someone that is trying to sell you something who can you trustWink

I guess the old saying "Buyer beware" does have some bite to it.
