Well, as no one from HK was forth coming with the correct retracts to order for this and buying 2 sets which did not work, mcr-a and mcr-g's i have decided to go with hand launch.

I ran my installed fan up today.
cyclone power 480-3300kv with a CS 10 bladed fan.
740 watts with 62 amps
cells are new but only 20C so will use some nano-techs should get the watts up but think at 2.4lbs it should fly well.

forgot to mention they 4s1p 3300's

wtwuk,

you need to buy a bigger house dude!!!
you worse than me and thats saying something:)

you see what i meant about the ducting just before the fan unit?
if you going to use that fan i wouldnt... the amp hungry and crap basically, use the shroud with a wemotec impellar for best results
or do it properly and use 2 x lander 68mm fans and cyclone 2500kv motors that will give you a comfortable 2400 watts, bearing in mind they designed for between 1200-1400 watts, ie 5s on a 1600kv 90mm motor
but who wants it to fly ok , you need the need for speed:):)

I am getting worse daily! Haha!
Freewing Eurofighter on the way, SU-35 ordering tomorrow. And as soon as the Durafly Sea Vixen is ready, one of them as well. Then that is it. I think! Lol!!!!

F-4 ducting ... Dire. Will be using a pair of Lander 68's with them thar Cyclone motors. One going each way of course.
Initially though before the surgery to turn it into an FGR2, I have a 90mm CS 12 blade unit to see how the thing flies on that. I did see it is now equipped with ailerons - the initial version only had tailerons ...
Nice project for next year

Well after waiting months for requests from Hobbyking technical specialists and customer services and not getting a reply, I decided to simply mod my Vampire build to accomodate retracts i had bought and not used yet.
These are the retracts i used http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__24317__Turnigy_MCR_B_Retract_System.html

It took a little removal of foam from the inside of the wing retract holes and i had to made a bespoke ply mount for the nose gear and it worked well,
So much so the nose wheel actually twist and turns when entering inside the fuz which isnt needed but cool anyways:)

here are some pics of the install

yes i know the photos are huge but was intentional to allow you to see better what was done

The setup on this one is a easy install, a rclander 3575kv 68mm fan, just remove the small amount of foam required for the intake lip and it slots in perfectly.
My other one is also on 4s1p but using a cyclone power motor and a cs 10 bladed fan,but as its the 3300kv motor and pulls nearly 100 amps on that fan i run it on 3s1p giving just under 600 watts, it hand launches easily nd climbs out no problem, the pack used is a turnigy 5000mah 3s1p pack and this model still floats forever.
Weight is definitely not a issue with this model.
I was going to use the 28-55-2100 kv motor on a cs10 blader but this model simply does not need anywhere that much power or speed it just looks wrong unless you planning on using it as a pylon racer:)
I have installed 1x5mm flat carbon spars in the tail booms for extra strength.

Now for some decent weather to fly here in the Uk
