does any one know why the charge jack does not work with a standard tx charger

I may be way off beam here, but a friend of mine who also has a 9X made the comment to me that the battery connector is 3 way because the charge mode uses the third (not connected as standard) pin, so in order to charge a battery, there needs to be a negative (black) wire connected to both pins from the battery pack.

Not had time to check this out yet on one of mine, but it would seem to be possible. Can you meter it out and see?
