As far as I know you do not install 4 batteries. Instead you run 4 cables from each battery lead, red and black. You will need to get 4 smaller diameter cables, so you end up having 4 red cables attached to the battery red lead, and 4 black cables attached to the battery black lead. Suggest you have a suitable male or female connector on the other end of the 4 cables, depending on battery connector type, so that its easy to disconnect power from the battery when required. From there the 4 cables connect to the 4 esc leads. In case this is not clear, please get back to me! I can email you a pic of the set up if that helps.Cheers, Baz

Use one of these or something similar... You can also get 4 in 1 ESCs with one battery connection...

What you need to do is use the Power Distribution Board to plug the power-in-wires from the 4 ESCs. You will need to solder 3.5mm plugs on the ESC wires to match those on the Power Distribution Board. The heavy wires with the XT-60 connector attached to the center of the Pwr Dist. board is where you attach your battery. Be sure your battery has an XT-60 connector on its power wires.
The 3 wire connector that comes from the ESC and goes to the M1 - M4 connectors on the FC (Flight Controller) board (on an airplane the 3 wire connector from ESC goes to the throdle channel of the receiver). Since there will be 4 BESC attachedd to the FC something neeeds to be done about this. What I did was to lightly lift the small clip that holds the positive wire in the connector and pull out the wire with the pin attached. The positive wire is usually the center wire on the 3 pin connector. DO NOT CUT THE PIN OFF OF THE WIRE! Get a piece of heat shrink tubing and place it over the pin and shrink it down tight. This needs to be done on 3 of the ESC only. Running all 4 ESCs in prarllel causes them to get hotter than usual and they tend to be noisey which causes problems for the FC. That is all the electrical connections. You should now be ready to flash the control software if you do not want the + version that resides in the FC. Just remember to get the manual for the software version you use to flash the FC. Besure to follow all the setup prochedures for setting up your Quad. Edited by Wally2 - 08/Jul/2012 at 8:17am |

That's exactly what the Power Distribution Board does, connects all ESCs in parallel, as is indicated in the diagram above.

crandix, you are correct. Just thought the diagram needed a few words to explain it to a newbie.
