,hi All

I'm still new in the field and i have a bixler rtf and 4 batteries having xt60 connectors. The Bixler comes with male xt60 on the .ESC I did a horrible noob mistake when i ordered the GT A-6 Charger/balancer/discharger from HK without purchasing an adapter from Deans/JST (still didn't figure out the diff) to XT60. This charger doesnt ...have XT60 charge plug Is there a way i could overcome this ?without buying an adapter I would have to wait for a few weeks for ...such adapters to arrive

Thx Karim

do you have any 3.5mm connectors??if you do they will fit the xt60

(BE VERY CAREFULL OF + AND THE -) .
the plug will not fit wrong but you can hook up 3.5mm wrong.you could use it this way till you get the adapter.??

Thanks airwave.
Just to make sure i understood you...
3.5mm connectors are the ones usually used in headphones?
If so, i have plenty!!! :)
I can understand they would fit the female xt60, but what about the male deans coming out of the charger?

NO i was talking about the type that fit on motor leads
3.5mm
you would be best off to get some local with 1 or 2 deans, then you could wait on the adapters you need.
i was saying use one of this type, then a 1/4 or .186 flat spade you can get from auto store for the deans side or pull the deans and place the 3.5mm on wire.

being new to this you may wish to get some help as lipo's are NOT the batterys to learn on.

Hi All,

Need your help again due to the issue above...I received in the last parcel: 2 x 2200mAh 3S Lipo batteries + the GT A-6 charger + 2x HK Cell Key - 6s Lipoly Cell checkers.
1) Do these batteries come fully pre-charged? The readings on the batteries are about "ALL=11.1v, and each cell around 3.84 (others 3.83v or 3.85v"
2) can I use the cell keys to measure how much of the battery capacity was discharged (in order not to go over 80% consumption)?
3) when I used the cell key on one of the old batteries, it didn't give anything, as if battery is dead. what could be the reason?
4) Another old battery shows regular readings on 2 cells, and for the 3rd cell it blinks with a number like 0.80v. Is it safe to charge this battery?

P.S. regarding the charger, I found a colleague who will give me a male XT60 that I will replace the charger's T connector with.

Thanks all,
Krimbu

Hi Krimbu, LiPo batteries need to be stored at right about 50% charge capacity. You never want to store them fully charged, nor do you want to completely discharge them either.
That's why they are at a 50% charge when you receive them. I normally store mine at right around 3.7-3.8V/Cell.
As far as your old batteries, sounds like you might have some bad cells. I wouldn't chance trying to recharge them, LiPo batteries can be very volatile in certain situations. Not worth a fire for what few dollars it would take to replace them.
Reasons for dead cells are many, but I will give you a few examples: Storing them full for long periods of time, over discharging, discharging at too high a rate, overcharging, or maybe just a bad mix during production.
Uncontrolled contact with terrain is a bad thing.

Thanks speedy72vega.

Isn't 3.7v the maximum for each cell on a Lipo battery?
And when you say 50% capacity, that should be measured in mAh and not in v, right?

And again, can I use the cell key meters to measure how much of the battery capacity was discharged (in order not to go over 80% consumption)?

Krimbu 3.7 volts per cell is 50%,full charge is 4.20 volts per cell.for 80% consomption the voltage is~ 3.1-3.0 volts per cell I/E 6 volts for 7.4 lipo and 9.0 volts for 11.1 store voltage is ~ 50 -60% 3.7 to a high of 3.9 or so.

the key cell can check the cells for balance and charge but not ma in as far as i know.

this one
this is your charge??

Great! So it means that i can use the cell key to make sure no cell goes below 3v, right?
Yes, that is the charger i meant.
I hope i will be getting a male xt60 connector tomorrw from a friend or, even better, a banana<->male xt60 charge cable :-)

Thx
