Type of Grease:
Li (Lithium)
Its a white grease and can be had at any automotive parts store or Walmart.
On my 6 builds (Align and HK)
Main Al block bearings
I found that 450 bearings were a little rough. Probably due to Al shavings during Mfg.
****TAPE ALL Al BLOCK HOLES ****
Why?
When you glue (loctite) in the Al blocks you don't want grease in the holes!
***Pack the bearing***
This is done by putting on excessive amounts of Li grease on the bearings and pinching or squeezing in the Li grease into the Al block bearings.

***Clean***

Clean the Al block with alcohol and remove all the tape.
Do the same for the TT bearing and the fwd/aft umbrella gears.
Remember to clean off all surface Li grease prior to installation. Li grease is only good for bearing surfaces.
After your first flight or spin up clean up the excess white Li grease.

Why?

Li grease or any grease attracts dirt! Dirt and bearings do not mix.

Enjoy!!!

Silicone Grease

Some flyers say Heli Manufactures use Silicone Grease on their Bearings.

DO NOT USE SILICONE GREASE

Silicone based grease and silicone oils are impossible to remove and will contaminate your entire Heli.
Trying to Thread Lock any bolt or screw after it gets silicone oil on it is impossible!
Removing silicone oil from parts is next to impossible!

You have to scrub, scrape and solvent clean like crazy to remove silicone contaminated parts!

Ask any Composite Mechanic or Composite Engineer or Professional Painter.

Silicone based grease and oil

Just Say No!!!

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

I have learned from my own experience the problems that can occur with my new builds and repairs using silicone based products.

I don't know where you get all your information on lubrication.

I use silicon or ptfe lubricants on thrust bearings, works fine. I never had
any problem in removing any excess.

Thread lockers don't bond or stick nut/screw together they just fill the threads
and set, making it difficult unscrew. Just wipe them clean.

I forgot to mention that on the feathering shaft's thrust bearings it is not a good
idea to use any petroleum base grease, it will react with the rubber dumpers, here
silicon grease is the best.

Si may be the best on one application.
But
Clean
Protect
and
Prevent Si based products from ever getting on or near Bolts/Nuts/Screws to be Thread Locked.

Si based products are very very hard to clean off.

Enjoy!!!
