Thanks guys, well I wasn't as cut as I thought I would be. After all it's only $80. Good learning curve for me, and a Domin8Trix is on the way. First stop with this one, Elevator flutter fix.......

Good point Hoverin..
The reason I got back into this hobby in the first place "I can afford it now"... The Domin8Trix looks a beautiful craft, you will have to let us know how you get on with it... |

Hi Kpphotos
I’m using the Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter (Mode 2) (ER9X Firmware installed) I have fitted the FrSky DHT 8ch DIY Telemetry Compatible Transmitter Module to the 9X and installed the FrSky D8R-II 2.4Ghz 8CH Receiver with Telemetery into the aircraft. My 260 has 5 servos 2 x Aileron 2 x Elevator (one each half) and 1 x Rudder. I set up the mixers to include flapperons, I thought this might help me keep better control at slower speeds (landing) however much to my surprise this aircraft handles real well at slow speed and after flying this for about 9 months now I have never used them.. I have 60% exponential movement programmed into all of the control surfaces and 50% reduction on my duel rates (elevators and ailerons only). I’m not the greatest RC pilot but have found this smooth out my aerobatics nicely and helps me to fly the aircraft more realistically which is my main objective... I love this plane, however there are some things to keep in mind when you build. Would be well worth the time to take a look at some of the earlier posts in this thread and the other Extra 260 49" thread set up by "boostoman". There is a link in the first couple of pages in this thread. There is some great information here relating to the undercarriage, canopy and a few others that should not be overlooked.. Hope some of this helps... Have fun kpphotos... Edited by Turbo14 - 12/Jun/2012 at 6:58pm |

Hi Turbo14
Thanks for that, yeah I have checked out those threads plus a few others. What are the throws you use for the ailerons, elevator and rudder. I'm assuming you have set the dual rates to full throws for low speed maneuvers and 50% for the high speed stuff. Cheers |

Hi Kpphotos
Your assumption is correct the duel rates are to full throws for low speed manoeuvres and 50% for the high speed stuff. The measurements of the throws I have recorded here have been measured at the further most point from the hinge of each control surface. I’m using the HXT900 servos so I don’t have as much movement. I plan to change these as I get better at 3D stuff... Thats a ways off yet... Aileron Total = 70mm (35mm each way) – 50% on total = 36mm (18mm each way) Elevator Total = 90mm (45mm each way) – 50% on total = 40mm (20mm each way) Rudder Total = 90mm (45mm each way) – 50% on = no change, no duel rate on rudder for me. I put some effort into ensuring the movement on the surfaces was equal both ways, this is the first plane I have built that can do 3D manoeuvres so I thought it might help the plane to hold better lines. I have no idea if this helped at all but she sure flies real nice... |

Thanks for that, I have just started to putting it together. Having some problems squaring up the wings and elevator. So some mods maybe required, see how it goes.
Cheers |

Yep, stick at it the Extra is a testing build. Make sure you install the main wings first to aid in aligning horizontal stab. Mine was slightly off due to installing it before main wings.....(in a hurry lol) |

Turns out that the slot the horizontal stab. slides in is not level, so will have to do some sanding to sort it out.
