Maybe not relevant, but I checked the calibration mode behaviour with a servo connected to the output. As expected it just drove the servo according to the throttle stick positions. When I armed the board, the servo just buzzed. No wonder since it was an analog servo!
Seems that the board drives the output at lower frame rate when in calibration mode (maybe 50Hz), as opposed to the normal 300 or 400Hz (v 4.7). If those SS ESC are close to the limit with 300Hz, that might explain why they work fine in calibration mode, but not when the board is armed.
Buy Turnigy Plush instead.

My ESC's dont make 2 beeps for throttle range calibration. Total junk. Confirmed on the rcgroups forum. One could get HK SS series programmable ones or Turnigy Plush! I hope problem solved. Will order some of those and let you know.

If I knew that before my quad would fly for more then a month now :(

I have the exakt same behavior with My hobbywing esc... Strange because what I have heard turnigy is a cheap copy of hobbywing? Don't know if it is so? But if my hobbywing
are better than turnigy plush then the problem remain?

It is funny, but I will say what other told me 10 times before. You should have 2 beeps after the initialization music and BEFORE going in the manual programming mode. If you dont get 2 beeps then you are out of luck, as I am. Its been recommended to just buy Turnigy Plush and forget about it.

I was getting NO 2 beeps and thought I do something wrong. Everyone thought =)

Turnigy Plush is the best solution for low cost Quads. Use other el cheapos at your peril!

Besides the tunes are really stirring when sung by a choir of 4-6 ESCs all in stirring unison.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

Lil update, I "could" fly:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGITQZ1LtJ0

I am getting only 2-4 min flight time with 2200 mah. Watt meter showed 10 amps with 45% throttle. Pretty weird, will investigate.

Easiest way is to hover for a couple of minutes and then see how many mAh the charger puts back in. Somewhere between 10-15A is normal total current.
Seems like the roll gyro gain was a bit high.
How is cutoff on these ESC's, soft or hard? I only see selection between Nixx an LiPo.
