I am trying to get my MX2 flying after the motor seized on the first flight. Turns out the magnets in the rotor weren't glued in properly, and slid back. Tried re-gluing but no luck.
Is there a replacement motor that can be swapped out, with few or no modifications? Has anyone else had this problem and contacted HK? |

Hi Fidel, any luck finding a replacement motor? Im in the same boat, but mine spat the front of the motor out.. :( coulda really hurt someone, prop and motor bell flew a good 20m when doing a quick ground test.

i replaced my mx2 motor with a turnigy 3548 700 kv on 5 cells....giddyup... it brought this plane to life. 5c in front of wing tube and very little tail weight was added

This motor? 'Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 3548-700kv Brushless Outrunner Motor' You would exceed the current rating of 45A surely? Are you still using the stock ESC? I have bought this motor: 'NTM Prop Drive Series 42-48 650KV / 1295W' as recommended by hobbyking support, seems quite powerful, ill try it on stock esc and 4S, and see how I go. The mx 2 really needs a larger motor Than that.
Motor: 42-48 Brushless Outrunner 700kv The stock esc of the Mx2 that Hobbyking sells is 70amp. There are inferior versions sold by other internet sellers that only have a 45 amp esc Specs: of the Hobby king Mx2 below. This plane is powerful enough for mild 3D Wingspan: 1400mm Length: 1290mm Flying Weight: 1900g Wing Loading: 50g/dm2 Motor: 42-48 Brushless Outrunner 700kv ESC: 70A w/BEC Specs: below for the inferior version. This inferior version of the mx2 plane , can not do any 3D whatsoever , as it does not have sufficient power. •Wingspan: 1400 mm •Fuselage length: 1240 mm •Flying weight: 1900g •Wing loading: 50g sq.dm •Servo 9g x 4pcs •Brushless Motor 3648 outer runner KV600 •45A Brushless ESC •14.8V 2200MAH Li-polymer 20C battery Note the 2200mah 20c Battery... Sorry, who were you responding to? Im assuming bigwes, as my motor is the same size as stock, albeit slightly lower rpm. And yes, I do have the 3D version, not the 'ínferior' one. |

Would be interested in seeing how well your new motor goes as well, sounds like it could be a good replacement for the mx2. 'NTM Prop Drive Series 42-48 650KV I have been lucky so far . Kanga, yea I see the confusion
I meant the motor bigwes posted 'turnigy 3548 700 kv' was only rated to 45A, if I was looking at correct motor on hobbyking. I can't wait for new motor, hopefully will get shipped tomorrow, my order got stuck because of Chinese new year

I maidened mine last Saturday. While it flew beautifuly, the prop nut somehow came loose and I crashed nose-in on soft dirt. While damage was minor, I managed to bend the prop shaft. I can't find a replacement for the prop adapter here. Anyone know where you can get the part?

Very hard to get hold of, you may be better to change the motor to the one sammy suggested , and grab a few spare prop drivers for it whilst you are at it .
