For me it's not really a matter of money. 12 bucks is nothing. I pay more for lunch, actually. It really would have been great if it had performed as good as what has been reported from previous buyers. Fact of the matter is that the new version seems to have some serious issues that are not easilly negotiated or worked around, and atleast my unit performs very poorly -so poorly that it is unusable to me. I wouldn't go as far to say that it will crash your heli -I have done my first five fights (batteries) ever with this gyro and I did not crash, perhaps thanks to the sim training I had done, but still... Anyway: -As a newbie; sudden tail wag, random drifting and what not is not what I want. I need a predictable tail. It does not have to be fast or super exact, just predictible. I'm hoping that the Turnigy MEMS unit will provide that :) |

in this gyro is a bug, causing spinning as soon your are in a glitch of switching over between HH and normal mode. This issue caused a crash of 110$
Those Chinese are pulling us a leg, as they continue to selling these gyro's even there are plenty of demage reports. After this issue and many other issue's with the HK500CMT i bought a nice copterX and a new gyro and left the HK bits and pieces in a box in a corner :-) Edited by brutus1952 - 05/Jan/2012 at 2:11am |

Hello,
I have used an older 2, years, hk 401 b with a hxt900, slow but no drift, wag, and for slow ff, funnels, reverse, just fine. I bought a digi ds929mg to udgrade. No way to get wag to stop on all servo horn holes and tested with newer hk 401 b gyro same thing, BUT I opened both 401s to refix pc boards in case hoping this would help. The components are different, many of them, different numbers , volt ratings, just plain different. So I replaced the older one back with the hxt900 bingo ok!! To bad they changed, I will not buy another! David

Got myself the new HK401B with the black silicon chip and I almost thought I had a faulty unit. A disappointment but gave me an idea to try it out on a project that requires sensitive gyro.
I'll definitely advice anyone who wants this for their heli to avoid it. Made no sense why it is still avaliable for sale. There should either be a recall or a reasonable store credit refund for those who purchased it. |

Has anyone opened up one of the $48 usd Chinese Futaba branded clones which are sold on fleabay to see if they are same as current HK ones - with a higher price?
They are actually called Futaba but made in China. I think real Futaba is made in Taiwan. It would be interesting to know if they have the metal or black plastic coated sensors. |

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

Crap, I just ordered two, Im gonna try to cancel them off my order real quick. Back to the drawing board. I want to get back in the hobby. I quit years ago because of a faulty tail gear in the original HK450. I dont want to get back in and get frustrated with another faulty HK product... and quit again. They change their products waaaay too often... like the names of their motors and batteries. What the heck. Now the guts of a Gyro.

Even the old verson a mod had to be done to make sure it worked well. you had to remove the case and add some foam tape to the base to keep it from creating un wanted tail reactions.

The Futaba 401 that I have purchased at DHgate are a different set up to the HK 401,they have a big nut suspended under the main board. It would appear to be a damper of sorts.I have purchased 15+ so far, they work a lot better than the HK401,easier to set than the Assan GA250. I have had 2 that bounced around, when opened, the nut that has been hot glued in place had come adrift.I just epoxied the nut back in place.100% fixed and at $18 each the're good value |
