Is the EPO Parkjet MKII a good beginner craft? Thinking of getting one. Any owners out there who has this plane can give some comments?

The Parkjet is a very nice plane to fly, but I'm not sure it's really suited to a total beginner. There are a few reasons for this:

1. The Parkjet is quite small and light. That means it is going to be pushed around by every gust of wind. That can make learning hard.

2. The Parkjet is not self-levelling. You will notice that the Bixler and AXN Floater Jet have upturned wingtips, which will cause the wings to self-level. This makes landings much easier.

3. The Parkjet glides quite well, but not like some of the larger trainer plans. You need to keep the nose pointing down or it will quickly stall. The trainer planes have less wing loading, so they can glide for ages and stalls are gentle and recoverable.

4. The Parkjet can be quite heavily badly by a single solid nose-in landing. Such a landing can easily snap the canopy in two because of the shape of the foam pieces. I have seen the AXN plow into the ground repeatedly and be throw back into the air 2 minutes later.

5. The Parkjet is very sensitive to balance. If you don't get it right, the plane just won't fly. That is definitely not the case for the AXN, which can handle a large weight imbalance and remain flyable.

Don't get me wrong, the Parkjet is a great plane. I reckon it's almost perfect as a 2nd plane, because it can be flown quite slowly on a small 2-cell battery and is impressively quick on a 3-cell...you will never get bored of it. I just think that a total beginner might wreck it before learning enough to keep it in the air.

That said, a new airframe is only $15. Maybe if you buy one PNF and 2 ARF kits, you will probably have learned by the 3rd one......

Thanks for your comment, klaw. What do you suggest for a truly beginner's plane? Bixler & AXN.

Red check for a lose connection. from ESC to MOTOR.it looks as if it has one. this could come and go till it is found. Also and bearing could lock up and make it act the same way (shaft sliding in side the bearing)
it would put a load the esc can't start under.
just some info.
