ps u need to block the ends of the little triangular shapes the two extensions form so no air gets in <@

Nice repair job ;}

ps if the extension is in the middle of the surface u only need to remove the L shaped edges from the surfaces trailing edge to smooth transition. A little sanding should do the job

Thanks!

Regarding the 'little triangular shapes', were you refering to the V-trench gap at the joints of the aileron and elevator surfaces? What method do I use to cover them?

I had considered fiberglassing the extended trailing edges to form a smooth tapered end. However, with the influence of the KF airfoils, I am toying with the idea of having it the way it is now. Some research have shown that the steps create a 'laminar flow vortex'. Ive decided that I'll leave it as it is and only fiberglass it in the future if required.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Thanks for doing a project i only think about

The holes that would be formed by having the extensions meet behind the ele trailing edge..

as for the steps yes they can add lift but it creates more drag for the added lift than the other common ways of adding lift. (thicker or wider or longer wing)Fogleman_airfoil wing info wikipedia
these wings are mainly for unpowered planes i feel our rc planes are more similar to real planes due to the huge power we have.

Ps thanks for having a go at fiberglassing the stinger 64... my Meteor
has arrived and tests well on 5cell lipo. i reckon this plane could handle the exta weight just like the 64 can..so after Christmas i may follow your lead and use all the info you have gained from actualy doing it thanks. (i spend too much time thinking about it)

An interesting nose reinforcement - I might try that one myself. But mine still looks so pretty, it would be such a shame to ruin the schnozz until I have a good reason to..

I did an ESC relocation over the holidays, to avoid some overheating problems I've been having. It's in my own blog, which doesn't get updating much these days.

Are you still running the stock motor? That looks like a Plush ESC.

Yes there will be more updates over the next few weeks. It has been so unfortunate that I do not have the time and chance to continue working my Stinger.

It is the Plush 40amps which I had rewired and repositioned for the tail heavy plane - Oddly, it became significanlty tail heavy when it recieve the fiberglass skin. This might be a good thing for 4S 2200mah+ users who are experiencing too much nose weight, the fiberglass job may result in a lovely balanced CG 4S Stinger.

Still running the stock motor and I plan on rewounding it to improve effiency and give it a lot more rpm and power! Someone in RCgroups had done it with great success!

I am currently deciding to get a Predator FPV set and experience jet flight!

That is just the base coat. I have a few other planes to work with and an intention to try quad copters. I am deciding to sell this Stinger to make room and im thinking that buyers might prefer a plain base coated fiberglassed plane to decorate it themselves.

Fizer, any pictures of your scared Stinger? Curiousity got the better of me!

Just sold my lovely Stinger away before finishing the paint job. For those who are wondering - The paint scheme was supposed to be based on NASA's Space Shuttle.

Some last pictures of it and a size comparison.

Good bye Stinger64! I hope you make your new owner proud!
