KaosKane, ooo you'll love the CS 10 blade 70mm fan unit! Mate, is your 3000mah 5S causing your Meteor to be nose heavy? What is the stalling characteristics like?

copter, my stinger had significant torque roll issues when launched with WOT, had a better experience tossing it hard into the air appox 40degrees up with 3/4 throttle and a nicely timed increment to WOT. Bit tricky.

spitty, now that I think of it, is there any particular reason why you bungee launch yours? For a rather handy 64mm jet, many would prefer hand launching it. I would bungee it just to ease the torque rolling, mine had rolled nearly inverted if tossed slightly off perfect.

Agree with all of the above!
The MAAA can end aero-modelling apartheid Today! They think you're stupid and won't notice MOP057

I would launch full throttle for any edf jets big enough to be hand launched, whether 3s or 4s++

Always worked for me.

Full throttle..

Then toss under 30 degrees upwards.. Always successful 100 percent.

Meteor Stock with 5cell 3000mah

What was your Meteor's setup? ESC rating, ThrustTube?

G'day Fusopn Tiger thank for the post

The setup is all stock the esc is labeled as "detram 60A" and is rated to 6 cell, The motor has no markings. the batt was Turnigy 3000MaH 35c lipo.

I have no thrust tube but i did use a paint roller wrapped in 1200 grit sandpaper to remove all the knobbys in the tube and i taped over the rudder/ele protrousuions in the tube so there was no air obstruction at all.

After the succsess of 5 cell I did breifly run the Meteor on six cell and the electronics held up ok but the EDF housing softened with the heat and the fan hit the EDF housing and the magic smoke got out.

No vid as my friend with the camera wasn't there :(

since the video and six cell meltdown I have replaced the motor with L2855-2100 Turnigy L2855-2100 EDF Outrunner (900w) 1 Reserved. and it is slower but i can keep wot all the time. as soon as stock is back i will order the 10 Blade High-Performance 70mm EDF Ducted Fan Unit. this should complete my Meteor's development. And allow me to get the Silvia 70mm Composite EDF Jet (Kit) and put the six cell setup from meteor in this ;}
It should be fffast.

I did not, I launched it by hand and I had tried various location, strength and angles to throw it, it seem to prefer being pulled in finger pocket area(about an inch before CG) and 40degrees up for my nose-heavy Stinger. However when I had increased the overall weight of my Stinger, it prefers being tossed from behind the center-rear edge of the main wing at appox 30degrees angle and it will track straight into the air as I increase throttle.

This should also work for a bungee ramp launch setup as that is what I would do for mine when I use the bungee.

Come to think about it, I presume your Stinger is indeed nose heavier than average? Others with a lighter 1600-1800mah 3S lipo pack seem to ramp and hand launch well with the hook on the skid area.
