Why did you solder extra capacitors on the speed controller? What does more capacitors do?
Thanks |

Seems to me you need to do the sums, what speed you end up going will depend on the RPM of the motor, or rather what the motor can achieve in RPM under its give load. Like a Heli your going to have to gear this thing down to allow the motor to run at a reasonable RPM, to be able to deliver real power to the wheels. The speed will be measured by how many turns you can get the wheel to do, compared with the final RMP of the motor. measure the diam of the wheel and you will know how far your going to go compared to the final RMP of the motor via its gearing in one minute.
Its all smoke an mirrors unless you calculate it using real weights and measures. suck it an see. Be prepared with a gear box or various gears or sprokets. Drive the motor at full RPM at full Volts to avoid excess generation of heat. the motor is a dumb bit of copper and steel so it wants to go flat out. All an ESC does is hold it back, not speed it up.
Any way thats my 2 bobs worth.
have fun
cheers

HERE ARE SOME FORMULAS THAT I FOUND IN AN OLD BOOK MOTOCYCLES OF 1899 THAT SHOULD GET YOU IN THE BALL PARK FOR MOTOR SIZE AND GEAR RATIO.TAKE YOUR TOP FLAT LAND SPEED MPH THAT WANT AND MULTIPLY IT BY 88 THAT WILL GIVE YOU FPM .DIVID THAT BY PI TIMES THE WHEEL DIA. AND THAT WILL GIVE YOU WHEEL RPM. YOUR GEAR RATIO IS THEN MOTOR FULL LOAD RPM DIVIDED BY WHEEL RPM.NEXT IS FIGURING HP NEEDED TAKE THE VEHICLE WEIGHT(with passenger and batts) AND DIVID IT BY 10 THAT WILL GIVE YOU PULL ON THE RIM(DRAW BAR PULL) MULTIPLY THAT BY MPH AND THEN DIVID THE WHOLE THING BY 375 AND THAT WILL GIVE YOU BALL PARK HORSE POWER NEEDED. MAYBE SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE ALREADY BUILT Vehicles will DO THESE CALCULATIONS AND POST HOW THEY COMPARE TO THEIR PRFORMANCE.THANKS FOR TAKING SOME OF THE FLACK THAT I WOULD HAVE TAKEN I AM USED TO MOTORS BEING RATED AT VOLTS PER HZ . |
