Guys
Can someone name an equivalent to the Park 480 motor <1020KV> that has the same aprox dimensions and identical bolt pattern? Thanks! Tommy D <this is that I have in mind: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7075 > Edited by Tommy D - 21/Jun/2009 at 5:27am |

You're best bet is to go to e-fliterc.com and look up the Park 480. The complete list of specs will be there, including dimentions. Then, go to the HK motors section and find one that's the closest. Keep in mind, it seems to me that alot of the E-flite motors use the collet type prop adapter. I ran into this on my Eratix. It called for a BL32, which shows to be 51mm in length, so I ordered a Turnigy 42-50 motor, which uses a bolt-on type prop adapter, thinking it would fit. It ended up being about 3/4" too short, and I had to make spacers so the prop adapter would fit the cowl. |

I, and many others in my club, have had great success with the KDA 22-20.
It's a great replacement for the Park 480. On 3S an 8x8 prop will give you 230 watts, a 9x6 will give you 280 watts, and an 8x6 will give you about 210 watts.
They also come with a bolt on prop adapter, compression prop adapter, spare shaft, spare clips, x mount, bullet connectors, & shrink tube!! You can buy two of them for a 480 will cost you!.
Also, I know that the bolt pattern is the same because I use the E-flite stick mount with this motor.

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear! The motor would be used for out clubs "Slow Stick Combat" and it's limited to a 2S LiPo pack. So the E-Flite 480 spins a 12x5 to the tune of a couple hundred watts or so. When you consider the carnage of combat I wanted a "spare" setup just in case... if you know what I mean. Thanks Tommy D |

Yeah, you can't beat these smaller KDA motors for price & performance. Especially when you consider all of the extras you get them. If you're doing combat the extra shaft they give you may come in handy! I forgot to mention, it's not a compression adapter that comes with it, it's a bolt on for one side & a prop saver for the other.

A friend of mine is using the Turnigy 35-30 on a plane similar to a Cermark Lil' Banchee. He has another plane just like it with an Eflite Park 480 and the Turnigy motor has a lot more power with the same runtime. I have quite a few Turnigy motors, big and small -- I think that they are one of the best brands of motors that you can get. I especially like the prop adapter...it bolts straight to the case -- it is very strong and there is no way to bend the shaft! The overall shape of the Turnigy motor is very similar to a 480 and I believe that the bolt pattern is the same.
I am also running a Turnigy 35-36 in a Fliton Mini Extra 260 (about a 42in. wingspan) -- I think that this motor is equivelant to between a 480 and Power 10.

Summing up, is the Turnigy or the KDA a better (easier
) "bolt on" replacement for the Park 480 1020kv motor? I want to use it in the E-flite Extra 260 (it calls for a 12 x 6 prop and 3s 2100). Just remembered, if I'm looking at the Sentry esc I guess the 40A is the way to go?Thanks, George Edited by GWCTas - 07/Jul/2009 at 2:54pm |

From what I have seen, I believe that the Turnigy 35-30 has the same bolt pattern as an E-flite 480. I am pretty sure of this because my friend had to temporarily use an E-flite 480 from another plane while he waited for his Turnigy motor to arrive. When it did, he just switched them out and had much more power! I do not know anything about the KDA motors...I have always used Turnigy and I know I will stick with them!
