    Posted: 23/Apr/2013 at 7:32pm
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have a question on the 9x trainer setup:

I have a student who's DX5 is mode 2. I am mode 3. I'm thinking of getting a second 9x for him to use while we buddy box.
Is it possible to set up the student in a different mode on the slave 9x, assuming no complicated mixes?

Resolved.... upgrading the firmware to Open9x, without any other HW modifications!!!!

Probably the original firmware DO NOT ACCEPT a PPM frame with less then 8 channels.

Wishing to help someother people on this.... :)

It's a 50/50 chance - if the band on the plug is a fraction out, there's not a good connection

Anyway, mono plugs are cheaper (and easier to make into a patch lead)
I don't care what it says on the profile - I'm so NOT GB!

Yes the problem that you have is that you need to move a wire on your trainer switch. If you haven't already done this,it is necessary to do it.The only thing you will have to do is when turning on the TX you have to flick the trainer switch to clear the switch error sign. This is normal and when use to it isn't a problem.Once done the opperation of the trainer swich then becomes normal and very easy to use.If you are going to tandem with another Turnigy TX you will need to do the operation to the other set also,I have done this to both my Turnigy sets and they both perform perfectly.Remember when using the 2nd set, don't turn on the 2nd set,it will automatically turn on when the trainer lead [standard 2.5mm stereo extension lead]is connected.
Good luck it'll work fine

Well I have a question that has not been covered yet. I'm only using one controller, and for some reason now I have to hold the trainer switch up to get my receiver to respond. I have trainer mode set to INH yet it still only responds with the switch held.

Some update:
I've cheched the PPM signal amplitude (4,8 VPP on both radios) and pulse timing (it is the same for both radios), I've cheched that the incoming PPM signal arrives to the correct pin of the processor, but none appens....

The only difference is the number of channels: the T6a has 6ch, the T9x has 8ch. Is it possible that the T9x (original firmware) discard the PPM signal only for this? I.e., does the T9x accept PPM with less then 8 channels?

I'm really confused, can anyone help me?

Thanks

Cico

Another thing to watch out for is the plug - sometimes the plastic needs trimmed back a bit to get it to slide in all the way
