More than just a fancy name. TURNIGY nano-tech lithium polymer batteries are built with an LiCo nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance. In short; less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery. For those that love graphs, it means a straighter, longer curve. For pilots it spells stronger throttle punches and unreal straight-up performance. Excellent news for 3D pilots!
Unfortunately with other big brands; numbers, ratings and graphs can be fudged. Rest assured, TURNIGY nano-techs are the real deal, delivering unparalleled performance!
* The nano-core technology in lithium ion batteries is the application of nanometer conductive additives. 1) The nanometer conductive additives form ultrastrong electron-conducting networks in the electrodes which can increase electronic conductivity. 2) These additives create a superstrong ability for imbibition in the carrier liquid to supply more ion channels. This improves the ability of ion transmission and ion diffusion. Through improving electronic conductivity and ion transmission, the impedance is reduced and the polarization of high rate discharge decreases greatly. Advantages over traditional Lipo batteries; -Power density reaches 7.5 kw/kg. -Less Voltage sag during high rate discharge, giving more power under load. -Internal impedance can reach as low as 1.2mΩ compared to that of 3mΩ of a standard Lipoly. -Greater thermal control, pack usually doesnt exceed 60degC -Thickness swelling during heavy load doesnt exceed 5%, compared to 15% of a normal Lipoly during heavy load. -Higher capacity during heavy discharge. More than 90% at 100% C rate. -Fast charge capable, up to 15C on some batteries. -Longer Cycle Life, almost double that of standard lipoly technology.
Perfect akku for T-Rex 250 DFC. Just amazing power and very constant voltage during flight and in combination with good ESC you will have no problems. I can recommend this akku and here is a convincing test video of my T-Rex 250 DFC for you.
The amount of current that can be supplied by the battery can be calculated by multiplying the capacity by the discharge (C) rating.
So in this case 0.85A x (45->90) = 38.25A->76.5A
5C would be 0.85 x 5 = 4.25A.
I have been using these exact batteries for a while now with no problems. In fact I almost exclusively use nano-tech batteries in all my planes and boats.
They are ok, but nothing special. The C rating is very over optimistic in my opinion. There are now better cells on the market, and I am now using those rather than nano-techs. I have over 25 nano-tech batteries and they all die at around 35-40 charge cycles!
I exclusively use nanotech batteries. Their performance compared with others is phenomenal.
I've never had any issues with them, all of mine discharge evenly across the cells.
I recommend them.
Hey, I got a noob question here! I've jus bought a P40 Mini Wrabird and this battery to go along with it and trying to install it but the connectors on the battery and the speed controller do not match. What should i do?
If you have a soldering tin, you can change the connector, if you put all your cars / planes ... the same connector, you can exchange the batteries of all. It is a good idea.
A greeting.
The XT60 connectors that come with this battery are far superior to the deans plugs that come on a lot of ESCs etc.
I recommend buying a bag of XT60 plug sets from HK and, as dakar_cpg said, put them on all of your equipment.
Most of the mini warbirds use this battery and hobby king provide a link to buy it on the aircraft's shop pages. These planes are extremely popular so these & the batteries are going in & out of stock fast. Plus the nano techs are getting brilliant reviews in the forums!!
My battery pack came with JST connector. The connector what i see in the picture is XT60 connetor. So youll have to change it to deans connector if you prefer deans.
Yes it fits, but like most batteries they are tight under the canopy and you have to get the positioning just right so that the canopy will reach back to the mounting posts. Personally, I think the Trex 250 could have a slightly larger canopy to make fitting easier.
Its the same size wire (and connector) as used on the 25-40C 3S 850mAh nanotech pack. The wire size looks like 20AWG gauge. (It won't handle 76A!). Its interesting to note that the 45-90C 4S 850mAh nanotech pack comes with more appropriate thicker 18AWG gauge wire and a higher capacity XT60 plug.
I don't know if anyone would want to pull the max rated current out of these batteries - the higher C in this case is to reduce voltage drop under load.
I ordered 3 of these little guys for a project i was working on and there smaller then the specs claim. They where perfect for my needs and have been awesome so far.
