HK-500GT 3D Electric Helicopter Kit (incl. blades and extras)
The high performance HK-500GT is 3D flight ready. 99% of parts are compatible with the Align T-rex 500
Much bigger than its smaller 450 brother, the 500GT is an exciting helicopter to see in action and even more exciting to fly. Its 2024 alloy head ensures hard core 3D pilots wont be dissapointed in the performance and the beautifully painted cowl and Titanium anodized components make this a visually stunning helicopter with performance to back it up! You wont find unecissary or poorly fitting bling alloy components on this heli. Alot of thought has been put into the production of this machine as seen by the FRN* tail which uses alloy only where its needed; in the arms and partially hidden belt pulley making it lighter with no sacrifice in strength; proving the helis no-bling all-performance attitude.
All parts are 100% compatible with T-Rex 500 Included are main and tail blades & Carbon Fiber boom supports.
We guarantee you wont find a better priced heli of this quality anywhere!
Features. Light weight design provides awesome flight performance and extreme 3D capability. Rotor head/tail with thrust bearings. Direct-to-swash CCPM linkage. Center of gravity of battery tray designed close to the rotor head. High efficiency belt driven tail.

Hola gente!
Hi All I am just about done with the build, has anyone run into the FG blades that come with this kit being to small at the root ? No way will it tighten enough and I cant find any shims in my kit ?I plan on hunting up some washers to get it finished, just wondering about anyone else having this
Thanks
You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy number 8 or 10 nylon washers to use as spacers. I like to glue them with ca to the blades and then install into blade grips.

hi caglar, i am not very familiar with the website, i am interested in ordering the HK500GT kit, but i cant find the required motor, servo, gyro, receiver, ESC and battery? i need help please
kenneth. I fly trex 500 and I have been using the HKS-9257 digital Servos all around with no issues and you can get replacement gears for them. But what your looking for a a "25 gram servo" Also any 3000mAh 6s 20c will give you plenty of flight time.
The Hobby King 401B AVCS gyro is a clone of the Futuba GY 401. This gyro still sells for 100 plus bucks I have had both and they work well. On the ESC anything plus 60 amps is what your looking for. I have never used that motor but I have used the Turnigy stuff. its good stuff at low price and it is packaged well too.
What is the size of the swash servo openings and the distance between the mounting holes? I have several servos in mind and will buy the ones that fit the best. I certainly do not want servos that are too large for the openings.
Yes i bought this Heli and now I am about to THRASH THIS THING BEFORE I EVER TRY TO FLY IT !!! Nice and shiny as it is !!
PLEASE someone that has it and has programmed a Turnigy 9x tell me how to do it!!! Im new to helis and need THIS SPECIFIC info! Please don't tell me to RTFM !! I DID and it always refers to airplanes! Very litle about the Helicopters There are some videos around but they set up other types of transmitters!
It would be a shame to try to fly it as it is !!!!! ILL BE VIDEO REC IT !!! IT WILL BE SURE I WILL WIN THE BEST HELI CARSH !! not to say it might kill someone.......
PS: he who helps me not only will get best answer awarded and points.... I'll restore your rc cars , I'll DJ at your parties for free, you can have my bike for a week.... ect ect
Hi Telixx, programming and ajusting the swash plate perfectly is not so easy. My Best advice is to buy the John Salt heli book for 10$ ( rchelicopterfun). The one call : 120 & 140 Degree Swashplate Setup & Levelling E-Book is a must for a beginner.
Hope help
telixx,I just now seen your post I feel your frustration I was at the same point along time ago and had to learn the hard way(lots of $) and by myself dont give up(hope its not to late already) I can tell you really want to fly I dont have the Turnigy 9x (I fly Futaba) but most set up for the radios are very similar as far as the functions go,If you have not seen HeliFreak's video's start there as he is very good at showing how to set these up watch the TRex 450 it will be almost the same as this one If it is not to late and you would like I can give you my email and try to help ya I am no expert by any means but I dont do to bad and will help as much as I can
Telixx, apart all advises you already get, i give you one more, that to me is the best. To you probably the hard one because i understand, you want your bird flying today. It will be very hard to you to setup a new radio and hely from zero with virtual help. It's nedeed some bases it seems you still don't have. So, i advise you to go to some club near you and speak with another rc heli pilots, and for shure they will be pleased to pick up your set and help you to fly. Or at least go to some rc heli shop as ask to owner if he can help you because in generall this guys also have knowledge to help you. In the end you will learn much more and you will be pleased to see your bird flying... without broke nothing!! - i think i will need your bike for a week... :)
Hello, checkout http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem .asp?idProduct=8497...on the details of the servo you can see the perfect size servo you will need for cyclic on a 500 heli..I use 3 of those servos and they work great. for the tail you will need a faster servo like a futaba S9257 and a good gyro for a rock solid tail.

Hi. I am about buying this HK500GT kit, but I have no idea on what electronics to get. Can you please tell me what setup you used?( item numbers please)
you need these parts:
Required items.
Brushless Outrunner Motor
Servos : See linked items below.
Radio Gear : Gyro/Rx
ESC : 80A or greater.
Battery: 2 x 2200mAh 3S 20C or greater.
I want to pretty much stick to the batteries I have so can anyone tell me what flight times to expect from 2200mah 6s made up of two three cells? Also will two 3s 5000mah fit in this model?
Thanks
Are the majority of parts from this kit able to fit the 500CMT (including Torque Tube model) apart from the obvious parts like the Torque Tube itself and tail drive gear? I would like to purchase some spare parts from the HK500GT spare parts section. I'm asking because there is no spare parts for the 500CMT models!
hello, this is my first purchase Hobby King.
I want to buy a HK500GT.
The helicopter comes with the joystick or have to buy separately?
what do I have to have a complete kit to start?
thank
No, you need to purchase the radio and receiver (6 channel radio MINIMUM)(not joystick) and all the electronics as well! This includes 4 Park Servos (fast digital servo for the tail of heli, 3 standard for cyclic controls), Gyro (HK401B), Motor controller (ESC 80 Amp), Motor (Turnigy Typhoon 500 - I have this motor on 2 of my helis) and lastly a 6 cell Lipo battery (2200MA or 2450MA also battery charger!) If you are completely new to this hobby, I would suggest you do a lot more research on the internet or join a club! There is a very steep learning curve to get going in this hobby but once you get there you will have fun! One last thing, get lots and lots of practice on a flight Sim like PhoenixRC (highly recommended!)
Great Marcelo also'm from Brazil, my best buddy would you start with a simpler model with 4 channels, are easier to fly and are cheaper. then when you have more and more domain commands understood helimodelismo (counsel read enough), then you buy a model of greater complexity, is not going to end up breaking his helicopter again and giving up hooby.
hello, this is my first purchase in HK.

The list? Here it is:
Motor: Turnigy Typhoon H500*
ESC: SuperSimple 70A*
Head servos: Turnigy MG930*
Tail servo: HKS 9257*
Battery: Flightmax 6s 2650mAh.
Could anybody please look at my setup and tell me if it s OK:
-Turnigy 500 H3126 Brushless outrunner 1600KV
-Hobby King 401B AVCS Digital Head Lock Gyro
-Digital BB/Coreless Mini Servo 25g / 2.8kg / 0.07s (for tail)

Hi. I am about buying this HK500GT kit, but I have no idea on what electronics to get. Can you please tell me what setup you used?( item numbers please)
My setup is there, up. One of the Turnigy S3317M, die after one year of school practice. I replace it with Align DS510. ( Only frame and rotor head stay in stock pieces all the reste is Alignized) So know sport flight is for me. I say, HK500 is here for stay. And keep rockin' in a free world.
I have the 500 gt n have a problem im using a futaba super 8 fm radio ive use in my nitro heli for a long time n i put a reciever in my 500 n i have bad glitching problems never had problems in my nitro.after about 1 minute of hovering the heli goes straight down down slamming in the ground! Thought i had tadio problems so i flew my nitro no problems, thought the reciever was bad so i switched n same thing electric heli problems nitro none can anyone help?
Hello, I just ride this awesome heli, but I could not fly yet because I can not correct the tracking, for example, giving it 4 times a blue shovel is always up and down, if I give you one more time, the blue is going up much, if I give him down once and two and three, it remains very high and if I give it one more time down low a lot.
The head came pre-assembled, it may be a defect in the assembly? I disassemble and reassemble it whole?
thanks
Gracias
Just starting my 500 build, and have an interesting situation. The main shaft cover is to tight on the main shaft(as in can not assemble even outside the frame. So, I'm polishing the shaft with some emery, checking the fit, and repeating. This last time it almost went, so I gave it a little twist. It went on a little bit but still too tight. So, I try to take it off - it won't budge. I try a bit of twist and pull - it actually walks on further. Still won't come off, so heat the cover and ice on the shaft. No luck. Any ideas?
I often use a little bit of grease to make it easy to insert or remove the main shaft. Also, if the main shaft is slightly bent, it can be hard to slide.
Great Heli, pretty good quality. DON'T FORGET TO GROUND YOUR TAILBOOM. This is very important, I had some problems with static locking me out and this solved my problem. Just do a search on how to do it for a Trex 500. I also replaced the outside radial bearing in the tail with a thrust bearing set from a Blade 400. Lastly I replaced the tail servo mount with a metal mount from a trex 500, I beleive there is a upgraded mount mount available through HK. The stock plastic mount was very flexy. I have flown a couple times now and the perforamance is great.

Super Heli!!! Fliegt sehr ruhig!!!
This is a fantastic kit it is my 1st 500 size heli and I have to say its very good. I did read on some forums that it had a few problems like no thrust bearings and some other problems with the tail assemblely but I think HK have sorted it all now as my kit was spot on. I had no problems putting it together and am really impressed with the build quality. I built my 500 GT on a budget and used TGY-S3317M cyclic servos and a old hitec Standard size servo for the tail and the stock esky rate gyro and found it was still rock solid in flight. I used the copterx 80 amp ESC and motor combo and although I dont fly 3d I have found them to perform well in very basic acrobatics. All in all this build cost me less than 150 including TX and RX (both stock esky) Only thing I will definitely change is the tail servo mount as is a little weak and tends to flex to much.

PART 1/2 I really dont understand why everybody gives so good rating. Yes, it looks good and is cheap, but it needs a little work to get everything work properly.
Replaced parts before 1st flight: - align tail assembly (I have older version w/o thrust bearings) - tail servo holder (original is too soft) - carbon fins (original vertical fin is too soft) - mixer and washout aluminium arms (original are too soft) - tail shaft (original was bent)

PART 2/2 Parts that had to be trimmed a little: - main gear is warped - autorotation gear has a play on the main shaft sleeve (too small diameter of the sleeve) - too much vertical clearence between autorotation and tail gear - tail gear was wobbly (badly drilled) - had to press tail belt pulley further on the shaft
So, after spending countless hours with trimming and changing parts, it works to my satisfaction. For the price it is good, 3/5.
