Model is described as having a flying weight of 490g but the postage weight will be almost 3Kg. Postage to UK will be around the same price as the model again. Total $100 !!!! Sorry HK. not sure how you get such a heavy package from a little electric foamy.

Like i said it was just a thought but in building planes from scratch (blue foam w/hot wire)I have found that if a plane does the up down up dowm thing and I cant get it to trim out I can some time shim the leading or trailing edge or both where they meet the fuse, to get a good flyer but these are all scratch built and takes a lot of test flights to get it right maybe angle of attack is not the correct term but like I said what do I know. Thats is what the hobbys is all about for me anyway,trying new ideas and having fun.Keep flyin !!!

I think your right Tryin2fly, reducing the angle of attack is best practice long term ,and compared to building from scratch fairly strait forward. If adjusting the the elevater down doesn't fix it i will probly do this.By the way, where can i get scratch? my hobby shop hasn,t heard of it?(Sorry thats an ancient joke)Happy flying. alan

IMHO These cheap low wing warbirds are never as easy or fun to fly as the more expensive Parkzone style planes. You will need to do a fair bit of "fettling" to get these to work predictably and reliably. Even then they will be a handfull for the itermediate pilot.

Corection. with a few flights under my belt and some minor issues sorted this is now my favourite warbird plane to fly.
   Hardtail (10%)
This plane has no bad habits. You need to be careful with the stock motor. 3s lipos will burn it out. It is easily replaceable though. The plane requires a little trimming or a little nose weight. I say either/or because on my maiden I noticed it was quite tail heavy (even with 3s 1300 lipo). I was able to trim it and fly it no problem. The next flight, I had weighted the nose a bit - about 100 grams maybe... Anyway, it flew fine with control surfaces at neutral. (Not really sure anymore how much weight I added, but it isn't hard to figure out. I just put it right on the underside of the red engine cowl. Also, when I replaced the motor (I put in the same motor they use in the HK Corsair and p51 because I had a spare on sitting around), I simply cut with a razor two rectangular pieces of the red cowl on either side. Allowed lots of room to work and glued back in so you can't even tell. The new motor fit right into the stock motor mount.This plane has no bad habits for sure. You'll love it.

yes there is just enough room, However I never flew with one I didn't get that far. it does fit great though!

IMHO I think you will strugle to get a 2200 in and it might be overweight for this.I had to carefully sand away some of the battery-bay floor to get my 1500 in. Forcing them might split the foam.

Yes, there appears to be a some sort of reinforcing rod running inside the underside of the wing roughly from where landing gear is from one side to the other

I have one and have flown it about 6 times now. My stock motor flew out during flight so I replaced it with a Turnigy 28-30. I am however having problems with the CG still as it wants to climb like crazy. I am using turnigy 1300 3s 20c batteries slid all the way forward in the battery area. How far back on the wing are yall putting the CG on the wing?

IMHO Most of these fire wall mounted motors will come loose without some "locktight"style mods. Check motor for tightness before each flight. The CG on this plane will be a third of the cord (wing width) back from the leading edge. This is the conventional formular, though the elyptical wing may make this a little nose heavy (better than tail heavy). To fine tune CG get up to a good height and try gliding in calm air so that engine torque is elinated. If you get this right, any bad trim under power is going to be down to incorect motor side/down thrust. Geting all this right takes a lot of stress out of landing. Hope this helps

yea I ended up cutting the red ring off basically and taping it back on looked great you really couldnt tell it had been done. I fought for over 20 flights trying to get the CG correct by using the CG formula. I added weight to the tail and then took it all off and added to the nose and no matter what I did the plane required full trim on the horizontal and a little down elevator on the stick as it would pitch straight up. I adjusted the thrust angle and that didn't seem to help either. I have repaired from the last crash (tough tough tough bird!!! I have had about 10 bad crashes) and will start to mess with it again once I am not frustrated with it anymore!

IMHO, Great static model to hang in lounge!Plenty of power with a 8" prop fitted. CG ok. Conopy magnet not adequate to secure.( you don't want to lose this, especial as they are often closely followed by battery....)!) Screw in aft elevater clevis to lower elevater trim. Lots of downthrust but no sidethrust on motor and adjustment will be dificult to achieve, even with major foam surgery. Move aleron clevise's to inner holes on servo arm ( drilling required)to reduce role rate ( just while we get the"feel" of it.) Then wait for calm weather and no one around. Gain as much altitue as you can before atempting any manouvers (3 mistakes high hould do it)Good luck

I just observed the rudder is the smallest I've seen on a warbird.

It's strange and I've never come across any plane designed like this - I must come out of my hermit cave, but at least I've got internet!

Does the rudder really work in the full-scale P 47?

What about those who have flown this model? Is the rudder on this foamie operational and is it effective at such a small scall?

I just got mine.(7 Days) Looks Awesome. I Painted inside of cockpit black and added a cardboard profile pilots head before fitting canopy.Plenty of space for 3 cell lipo. Jug belly looks perfect for landing on. Decided to lose wheels (rather small) and to fix rudder and remove the servo and pushrod. Hole created by missing servo provides better route for deans type plug from Speed controler below. Left spinner off as not realistic and "sheilds" motor from air flow. The 10" props provided (2)are too big for motor (gets hot) so i have replaced with 8" and runs cooler. Pity as 10" makes more sense with the radial cowl. Made extra air vents with hot screw driver for battery tray and air exit holes along the back of tray and along bottom of fusalge,(Like PZ Spitfire) (air needs to get out for a decent flow). Not sure the magnet secuing the cockpit will sufice. Also can't get to engine (for locktite) without seriouse foam surgery. (Bet it comes loose) Blowing a gale now of course so i will report again after flight.

It is small and it does work, at least in normal flight circumstances. I still can't get it to spin, but I can get my Corsair to spin either and it has a huge rudder.

If you look at the unasembled picture it show the decals are on a sheet still (you put them on yourself)a good thing in my opinion. Their photographer is admitedly not an airplane guy/girl and most likley thought it look prettier, more symetrical with both stars on top.

Why did real American WW2 planes only put stars on one wing? couldn't have been concerned about camoflage as they mostly didn't have any. maybe they were short on decals.
