How does this compare in performance to a Gaui 200 ? By comparing price Gaui should be 20 times better ? Can this fly reasonable 3D with a competent pilot ? Any recommendations on a quality, low price 3D capable tiny heli would be greatly appreciated. I've been out of the hobby for 15 years. Oh, & which is the smallest collective heli available please ?

The smalles CP heli available yet is Walkera 4G3 (using tail motor) and Walkera 4G6 ( the newest design, using shaft to spin tail rotor). 4G6 not available in hk yet, but 4G6 you could see this : http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11639&Product_Name=Walkera_4G3_3D_Metal_Edition_w/_Double_Brushless_System_&_2602_TX_RTF

Got mine yesterday, but sadly, missing tail gear set parts, so i can't maiden it on weekend. Already complaint about it to hk. Any experience like this before?

Hey does anyone have a solution for a fixing the problem with the belt being too short. It wont reach from the gears to the back, by very small amounts. Im thinking to maybe sand or remove a little bit of the tail boom, any suggestions?

Assembled two kits and see no problem with belt.
Why do you think its short?
nilsd2

After close observation it wasn't a problem with the belt, but more a problem with the tail boom not fitting the body itself, so i ordered spare tail booms and the problem is solved. It is now assembled and everything has managed to fit. Thanks for the reply!

Hey everyone, i need some advice on how tight to keep the screws for the blades. Should the blades be able to move freely with very little resistence (Both Main Blades and Tail Blades), or should the screws be more tight? Any kinda of advice would be appreciated.
Ufir

Blades should move with medium resistance. You shouldn`t be able to move blade by just touching it.

Hi all. I'm a beginner and I want to know what else do I need to mount this heli? (glue?)Thanks

Check out the build threads listed under the reviews of this kit. Keep in mind also that this is a pretty delicate little heli. You need to use great care in assembling it to prevent damage to parts. I broke off one of the "see saw" control link balls while trying to snap on the link rod end.
You will need a Gyro, with the appropriate servo, 3 cyclic servos, the 3.7g servos fit the frame 4.4g or larger will require some modifications. The motor, sold seperately. An 850 2S lipo and a 6 or more channel heli radio with ccpm programming.
No glue needed. Just some green loctite for the pinion on the motor.

I just had a crash over the weekend trying to do A flip, fortunately I bought 2X kits so I had spare parts on hand to repair it.
Tail unit was damaged, one of the main blade holder was damaged, tail boom, main frame, landing skids were damaged, other parts runs fine. $20... I think its okay.
I'm not sure if the Gaui EP200 have the same problem, but with FF EP200, the swashplate doesn't allow over 50% of swashmix movement.
Setup:
Firefox EP200 kit Turnigy 4.4g servos X 3 [TGY-1440A] HXT500 5g servo x 1 [HXT500] Turnigy 2623 4500kv BL motor [T2623-4500] - running on 3S, 11T stock pinion Zippy Flightmax 800mAh 3S1P 20C [Z8003S20C] Turnigy Plush 18a ESC [TR_P18A]
HK marked the motor for 2S only, I tried it on 3S it is very powerful and stay cool but it maybe because its winter. In addition to that I configure maximum throttle to 70%. My concern is that the 18A esc gets rather warm with the 3S setup, maybe 25A is a better choice with 3g difference only.

If we have to restrict the throttle to 70% max. on 3S, we may as well try 2S. I find my HB2622 (5000KV) gives more than enough lift using the stock pinion (12T?) on 2S. 2S would reduce the dissipation on the BEC.
Higher head speed means more stability but more serious crashes. :)

the landing skid is way too fragile, I had a rough (under 1m) landing and the skid broke into half. worse is there is no replacement from HK!

Are there any online instruction-manuals on this helicopter? The tiny piece of paper supplied with it isn't really helping me much.

Use GAUI EP200 manual to setup this heli

When will spare parts be available ?
Since it does fly, but is quite demanding in pilot reaction speed, i will need some spares sooner or later.
I use a hb2626 4200 kv motor on 2S. Guess a 4500 kv motor would be better. I use the mystery sd-4.4 servos, they fit, but are not very fast. I use the turnigy plush 10A esc and a 800mah esky lipo, they get a little warm.

Clean the motor shaft using Alcohol. Use some green Loc-tite (also known as "R48" or "sleeve retainer") on the shaft, place pinion at the proper height. After 10-15 seconds, the pinion will no longer move. Let it cure for 24h to be sure.

Is there any servos that will fit the FF200 frame without "plastic" surgury? There is not much room to cut without weakening the frame.

EM 3.7 and EM 4.3 servos are a snug fit without trimming

Same here. I really appreciate the great pricing. I really want to order this heli but would like more details on how it flies and what motor/ESC/servos etc. A package deal would be nice. BTW the pic shows a 3S lipo.
Also I wonder how this is diff from the upcoming Trex250 clone.

Turnigy 2623 Brushless Motor 4500kv looks good for use with 2 cell lipo: ***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8501&Product_Name=Turnigy_2623_Brushless_Motor_4500kv
This heli is prety much a plastic version of the gaui200, which uses a 4800kv motor and a 12-18amp esc. I would suggest hxt900 for the tail but I'm not familiar with the servo location sizes to comment on the cyclic servo choice but I have Hitec hs45's in my gaui. hope this helps someone.

The Turnigy 2623 Brushless Motor 4500kv fits, however you must slightly widen the hole in the bottom of the frame to insert the motor and modify the mounting slots in the frame as this motor has a wider bolt spacing. A file or a 1/8 drill and some patience(go outwards at end of the slots closest to the main gear)and you are ready to mount the motor. The frame is in the way so use 2mm hex head motor screws and a ball end allen key to turn the screws from an angle. If you don't like to mod your toys, try and find a motor with the narrow bolt spacing and less than 25mm in diameter. I haven't seen a more suitable motor on this site(yet?).

Can I use a turnigy 10amp esc, or I have to buy a 12amp?
JelleB
(84%)
Depends on the motor you intend to use, and what voltage. The recommended motor draws around 5A on 2S, and people seem to be content with it. So 10A ESC should be fine. Put a alu heatsink on it if it gets too hot for you, often you can get away with that instead of buying a slightly higher rated ESC.

HXT500 and HXT900 will not fit for the swash. You need smaller 4g ~ish servos. HXT500 will work for the tail, but the HXT900 is too big I think.

I've seen in other forums people modifying the frame to fit hxt500. If your willing to put in the time and sacrifice the amp draw from that servo it's worth the price.***********rcgroups****/forums/showthread.php?p=10126095

Darn, got last one and backorder 1. Any more words on when the 250 clone will arrive and specs on it. Diff of $35 vs. $20 for this is small in light of the complete build cost.

dang it, I've never built a heli before. Help!!!

The parts list looks similar to the HK450. Should be straight forward if you spend the time. ARF is great for first build (between kit and RTF). Watch the HK450 build video.
