The Main Blades that came with my Heli are a little different to the Blades Shown in the pictures (just black with holes at one side. Additionally there was some (4) Stickers, and i don't know, if i should put them onto the blades or not. I'm also not sure, if these stickers become detached due to the high rotating speed of the Blades and the wind.please some hints.

This heli Kit is great but some parts also need to be improved. Eg. the fin material is to soft that when the tail wags, it also wags and clashes with the tail rotor cause some damage. See this pic: HK-450 IMPROVE

Turnigy e500 Zippy Flightmax 2200mah 3s 20c HXT900 Telebee HH gyro fiberglass blades 325mm 11T pinion (with the e500, you need a 11t not the 13t that is supplied with the motor) Turnigy Plush 30 amp Metal Head/Tail assemblys from Xheli (EXI brand) for $39
thats my mid range cheap set up. It works great. If you live in the USA get spare parts from xHeli . com- the EXI 450 parts are compatible.
Crashtruk (83 points) 10/28/2009
The supplied main blades where not very good quality. Luckily I ordered some carbon blades as spares. Not complaining because price was fantastic. I have 100 flights up now and I am glad I bought my HK 450.

Hi, the.HK 450/500?, I am using flights in program called ClearView, and using it to learn to fly. The T-Rex, models I found the T-rex500 model, much easier to fly. I normally have real-time 100 % auto pilot / Alevator/Eleator set at 50 %How ever in the case of T-rex450 ?, I find it a lot harder to fly?, I have two have real-time set at 40 % and auto pilot Alevator/Eleator set at 60% .
I read one of the posts, said that the HK.**- 500 was only really suitable for hovering and doing circuits. Under no circumstances should you try to perform 3D? Well, frankly at the moment I will be very happy. Just be able to hover and do circuits??.
I purchased the HK450 with the recommended set up. (Turnigy E500, HXT900's, 2200mah 3s, etc) I had zero helicopter experience, and would recommend this kit over the 500. People say that the 500 is more stable, but it is also bigger, heavier, much more expensive up front, and much more expensive to maintain. For instance, you need two 3s batteries to fly one 4 minute flight, whereas the HK450 will go for 7 minutes on one of the 2200mah batteries. It is much more economical, and parts are cheaper when you do crash. My recommendation: Buy this kit and the recommended parts. Get a 11t pinion. Go to xheli. com and buy the EXI metal head and tail combo for 39.99, along with a variety of tail shafts and blades. If you are in the US, XHeli is the place to get parts. respond back or try to personal message me if you have any other questions. I would love to help. This heli is great.

In flight, this is fairly stable. It took my some time to figure out the gyro and flight settings, but now when i have a problem i know exactly where to look. Sure i crashed and had to order parts, but after 8-10 flights, I can fly crash free. the 450 is stable in the wind, and is (with practice) easy to hover. If you are learning to fly for the first time, make a big X out of two 2.5 foot long dowels (1/4 inch is good) with some 1.5 inch styro foam balls on the ends of the X, and then lash it onto the landing skids. This will save alot of crashes when you are learning. Trust me, it worked like a charm.

Halo HK Where can I get the manual parts of your HK 450. Some parts are not enough described in the web such as the bearings and I don't know which ones I really need. Thanks
Hi. HK -450 do you need to use E-ccpm All can you use M-ccpm As I find E- ccpm A bit difficult to understand? I have a spectrum D. X.7. Radio . With very little information in the manual? Hence my confusion?.
Kind regards, Bob.

HK450 is a eCCPM. In your DX7, you need to first select the 120 degrees swashplate function. The manual helped me alot setting mine up, and if you still confused go to ***********helifreak****/showthread.php?t=11373 and there are two videos labeled CCPM setup part 1 and 2. Watch those and they will walk you through the process. If that doesnt help, they have a specific video for the DX7 on this thread: ***********helifreak****/showthread.php?t=41692
Good luck

Additional things you will need for this heli: -upgrade tail blades, the stock plastic ones arent big enough. -set of fiberglass blades (the 5 dollar 325mm blades from HK work GREAT) -40 amp ESC, 30 is too small -2200mah, 3s, 25C. The 20c Turnigy pack will puff up even after just hovering. -The Turnigy E500 motor works great but uses a lot of power. -Spare Parts. Order them now.
Have fun. I love my HK450.

So far the 450 seems like a really nice heli for the money. I have not flown it yet, I am 90 percent done with the build. Upon intallation of the blades I noticed some dihedral in the rotor, I striped a main blade/feathering shaft scew in the process, anyone know the exact size of this screw? Going to replace it with better quality one, since this is another "oh jesus" screw!
modeljunky73 (2 points) 10/12/2009
Hello all. Does anyone know exactly what size the main blade/feathering shaft screw is. I striped one while trying to eliminate dihedral in head. I think its in the blade grips. Would like to have a better quality screw for this, not only do they keep blades from flying off in flight, but if you cannot remove them, your head is pretty much ****!

I just want to see the new 450gt.
downloader (64 points) 10/8/2009
The stock blades are really ****py. If I put them on the heli, they form a V like dihhedral on the plane :D from closer examination, the blades are wrapped...

WHy is my heli stuck 'pending customs inspection'... its been like that for 3 days now. Anyone had a similar issue?
Justin_urke (2 points) 9/19/2009
an esay way to get the HXT900s in the fram is to take the bottom off the servo and they slide right in. then screw it back from the other side of the frame.

Where can i buy the servo ball links, which are not included in the kit?

I ordered a pair of part number F038 from the HK450 parts list. In the discussion someone said it includes the ball links for 2 servos, so I ordered 2 of the parts F038. But hey guess what!!! they are out of stock. what else is new.

i have got this helly yestarday and i have got 5 boll links in it. So servo ball links is included in the kit.. You only need buy main pinion gear but it included in the recomended motor Turnigy E500 6T 4000Kv 200W Heli Motor. (and you need electronic stuff:RX/TX batterry, servos, gyro etc..)
Btw, main frame is aluminium! :)
mkplanes (44 points) 9/18/2009
What type of bolts do I need to mount a Turnigy E500? Everyone says the kit does not include motor mounting screws.

Ok, I ordered one of these little helis'.I am currently flying blade cp,blade 400 and ergo .60. I ordered the turnigy 2836 motor as well(on back order of course)and the turnigy sentry 40 amp esc. What do all of you think about the choice?

Hello You'll find a complete review and a video of the HK450 : http://aerololo.free.fr/articles.php?lng=fr&pg=548 This is a very good heli for beginners. United Hobbies provides very good stuff at so low price that you can have with this heli a good 3D low cost model ! For example : - Turnigy 2836 Brushless 450-Size Heli Motor 3700kv T2836-3700 - Telebee Head Lock & Standard Gyro (Digital/Analog) GR302-AD - 3x HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo HXT900 - Digital high torque bearing servo 13.5g/2.2kg/.09sec HD-2216HB - TURNIGY Plush 30amp Speed Controller TR_P30A - 3S Lipo Zippy 3S 2200 mah 20C Don't forget to add servo ball links, as there aren't in the kit. There is no manual, but it is the same heli than Trex 450S, so you can download it here for example : http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=43239 http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless&filename=trex_sa_arf_manual.zip Have fun !

Nice 450 heli kit

I set up this heli with KD KA400H brushless (11T pinion), Pentium-30 ESC, HXT-900 servos, AUW 738g ( 2400mAh-? mystery battery - 156g). At ~80% throttle and ~0-2deg pitch I got 2700rpm head speed, but motor slows down when pitch increases (It is possible to set up throttle and pitch to maintain constant 2600rpm for 0-9deg pitch). Hovering time ~11min. Problems during assembly: - I have to buy extra balls for servo horn - I have to disassemble upper servo case to put hxt-900 inside the frame - Problems with control linkage (I had to lengthen A linkage and shorten C - T-rex 450SA manual) - do not increase length to much because pushrod can easy come off (it goes about 5 full turns inside plastic and shouldn't be less than 4 full turns) - One main blade grip was too tight. Good things after setup: - good quality black plastic (very hard) - very low friction of head assembly - perfect balance with lighter battery (I recomend Zippy 15C flightmax 2200mAh 168g). - good parameters with slightly weaker motor KA400H and 3500kV

I’m not one to write reviews. BUT.. After seeing this 450 clone for 35 bucks I had to order it just to see if it was truly a 450 sa clone. I’ve been flying for a couple of years, no not a 3D super star, but I do just fine. The only reason I say this is because I wanted beginners to know I had experience in building and flying. This Heli ROCKS! I decided to do it on the way cheap. You know, 3 dollar servos, down and dirty cheapo receiver and gyro. Just a fun throw-away weekend project. I really had a ball building it and flying it. It rocks! It’s no different than my TREX 450 SA. As a matter of fact, I pushed it to the same level as my 450 SE and Copter X 450. And it’s just not that much different. OK, it’s different, but not that much and I have less than a hundred bucks into this guy! The build was painless. (I didn’t need the manual, I know this heli very well). I think I read in the reviews somewhere that someone didn’t want to fly it 3D. Well, don’t worry about that. This does 3D quite well. (At least to my capabilities) Can’t go wrong here. I ordered two because the shipping was about the same and I figured you can never have too many Helis in the fleet. Also a great source of parts if you’re just getting started. In my humble opinion, this is a super star. I sure wish it were around when I was getting started and spending hundreds of dollars every month on parts. Seriously, you can’t go wrong here.

Just got my HK-450 KIT. Looks good, all parts are made smooth, but there's some notices: Buy 4 or more balls for servo horn, because they are not included in the kit Buy main gear pinion, not included in the kit also No assembly and setup manual, must use T-Rex 450SE manual to setup this heli Some tail boom parts required to be glued, as they holds very weak and moves easy, thats not suppose to be.
4 stars.
Sorry for my bad english.

Perfect machine, looks, feels, sounds and flies likt the Trex S. All parts are interchangable. A real perfect copy of the align one. But was very nice is that the head including linkages was all set. I did not change anything, no adjustments to the linkages. It flew perfect, not even bladtrail. I really like this one!!!!! The assan gyro ga410 is also perfect

Good quality.Everything works smooth.Everything is included except linkgage balls, instruction manual and motor pinion. So,you have to add few more $ for these parts.I bought it with 3500Kv motor,3xhxt servos,1x digit.Corona servo, teleebe HL gyro and 30A ESC.I'm planing to use of course Zippy 2200mAh and 11T pinion gear. You can use a T-rex manual. Why I gave only 4 stars? TERRIBLE quality of screws, like plastecine and any 1,5mm allan key fits well.

For the price, this heli is really wonderful!!! I am flying one equipped with Assan 401 gyro, three Hextronic 9gram servos, one HS-81 MG Hitec servo for rudder, and a E500-06/6316 Turnigy E500 6T 4000Kv 200W Heli Motor. At first I used a Hextronic 9g servo for rudder, but I do not recommend to use it because the tail becomes too loose, I made several attempts to improve its performance. The HS 81 is better or any other digital servo. Continued...

Great for the price! The rotor head seems very smooth and precise. Mostly nice parts, except for low quality screws and lousy main blades. Buy better blades, and get some extra screws. The screws strip easily, even with high quality tools. The screw holes has sloppy tolerances. Using 4x HXT-900 Turnigy 2836 3200 kv motor Can't wait to take the maiden flight.

I got the Kit on 3rd Feb and it's perfectly packed in the white box. Though the overall quality is perfect I will suggest that people should take care while installing it as the parts specially in (Head) can easily break. The kit was 80% assembled however I have to unscrew the (Body) to install electronics. Friends beware if you are using HXT9G then you have to unscrew the body to fit in the servos into the spots. cont....

cont2... Installing the Flybar is not easy, and once installed and tightened uninstall is a big issue...the bearing inside will not allow the flybar to get out..I broke the flybar control set arm in doing so. This I guess is due to the marks made by the hexnut on the flybar rod and the bearings doesnt allow the flybar to slip out. Overall I will rate it 5 stars though keep a caution while working on it. Cheers.

This is a wonderful kit, but it has no assembly instructions. On the net you can find and download the manual for the CopterX 450 AE, and others. It looks like the HK450 is CopterX AE clone and the illustrated CopterX manual is very helpful. Can't wait to get it in the air!

Excellent value & compatible with the Trex 450 SA for parts. No instructions, but you can use the Trex manual which is available online in pdf format. Kit was well packaged, complete, and arrived without any damage. If you are on a budget, don't pass the HK450 up. HobbyCity can be counted on to provide you with excellent service.

Excelent kit, no doubt, but be careful with the related products, because even after having replaced the 13 teeth stock motor pinion for a 11 teeth one, the Amp consumption is around 40Amps. And before replacing the pinion, I fried a 40 Amps turnigy ESC (My fault. Should have measured it).
