With hexTroniks glow-wire system you can outfit your plane with unique, lightweight and colourful neon glow wire lighting, allowing you to fly all night.
The Glow-wire driver connects to any channel on your receiver and will drive two 1.3mtr long neon wires. The neon wires are flexible and can be moulded to any shape.
The driver weighs around 8grams and is extremely small. You can even connect several drivers to the one receiver for an unlimited number of lights and colour combinations.
The hexTronik glow-wire driver has been carefully designed to minimise noise and maximise the illumination with any given receiver voltage.
To use the glow wire system, simply plug the driver into a spare reciever channel and plug the glow wires into both ports on the driver*.
The hexTronik Glow wire system is extremely easy to use and creates an exciting dimension to any R/C flight.
Glow wire sold separately.
*Always connect both wires before powering the unit. Do not disconnect wires until power is removed from the unit. Running unit with only 1 glow-wire connected may cause the controlling chip to burn out.
Always change jumper to 6v if youre using a 6v power supply. Failure to do so will result in the chip burning out.
I bought one of these, but it looks different. The PCB is bigger. And there is only one plug for the receiver and two square plugs that dont fit on the fibre wire lights that I also bought.
Do you experience the same?
I will upload a pic of mine.

This system to control the led working when it is on/off...yeah you can, it is very good conditon and very good night flying staf you can feed it with receiver.
Well I just got some of these, but now HK is not selling the glow wire anymore, and the one glow wire page I see on the site says it is an archived page (so they won't be getting new stock). It says the new product is an led strip. So now I can't get glow wires? I have drivers and there is nothing I can do with them?
go to any website that sells align helicopter stuff there glow wire works perfectly with these drivers, got to say glow wire just isn,t much good for planes unless you keep them close to you, iv got led strips on a flying wing running on a 3 cell lipo and can see the wing for over half a mile maybe farther
I've got a new version of the driver which looks a little bit different. However, there is no flag or marking of the voltage-setting. Does everyone know what pins are for what voltage?
Thanks for your remarks. If I use a magnifier glas I can see "4V" between pin 1 2 and "7V" between pin 2 3 indeed. The jumper is placed Pin 1 2 (factory setting). But what does it mean?
I can confirm that I have received the new unit. It is smaller and brighter. Not quite as bright as the Align driver, but still considerably brighter than the original. The switch still works the same.
Hey guys the Glow driver I just got today is not like the one in the picture, its small and kinda looks like the HXT 3A BEC now. the lights are bright when I switch the jumper to the 7v setting! mine has a 4v and it looks to be a 7v??
A small indoor flyer only has room for one glow wire. It would probably fly ok carrying the weight of one, also. Indoors in the dark, yea. Think I'll burn the controller?
Mine glitched. I put a ferrite ring on the voltage input (like what you see www.link )
This is no where near as bright as my Align Drive/Glow wire setup. I had one dead wire, out of 6. Other than glitching, I didnt have any issues with the driver...
Mine, like many others have reported only lights up one glow wire (other port faulty).Does this mean I will suffer premature failure on the working port and can I have a 50% refund, lol?
The Align version with 2 cold light strings uses about 100mah. These glow wires are much dimmer. If the light output is any indication, I would say these consume about 25 or 30mah. The glow wires are much brighter using the Align driver, although I haven't tried it for more than a few seconds.
It's only powered by the receiver or batteries. As you can see on picture only two wires go to receiver + and -. If it were three wire you could on/off by remote.
If you use a receiver battery , you can add a 3-wire switch harness for On-Off. Receiver is just a male plug source for the driver between flight battery and lights.
No Manual. No need for a manual, it's a no-brainer. The jumper is to change to 8V for people who want to run it off a battery directly. When run off a battery directly up to 8v the glow wire is brighter.
I had two units with four strings running at the same time. They were drawing about 120mA total.

Nice little glow driver. weight: 8,8g (complete with cables) one jumper to switch between 5V and 8V input voltage. one tip switch to: 1- switch on 2- switch on with blinking 3- switch off
when 2 glow wires connected, one is a little bit darker. also negative is that every time you connect a battery you must switch it on to use it. That means, it is a little bit unhandy to use, when everything is build into the plane.
I will solder a thin cable to the tip switch and mount it outside the fuselage to reach it easily.

I have ordered two of those together with all the colors glow wires - all five of them.
I have read hear that the second port doesnt work for the other users. I have had no problem on both of my glow drivers. Connected it to a 800 2 cell battery, turnigy ESC and AR6200 from spectrum Rx.
First I connected only one of the devices and two glow wires. connected the battery and it worked. So I disconnected the battery, connected the second glow driver and two other glow wires, connected the battery again and it worked once again.
On the driver there is a switch - small button - so you can switch between off, solid light and strobo.
Works really good.. five Stars.. if it would be possible, it would get six of them!!!
you can see a time lapse video of me connected it www.link strongly recommend to watch this as it is better quality)
and if you dont need such good resolution, you can watch it also www.link

Anyone waiting for glow-drivers, the Align driver has exactly the same plugs and works perfectly with the Hextronik Glow Wire.

I just discover that if you want to switch on without the integrated switch you can just solder two pins of switch together and glow will start when it get power. Bad thing is that then you can not switch betwen blinking and constant light. But I like constant light more.

Nice lights ,the wires are stiff to bend and form to the shape of your plane. They are fairly bright for indoor flying.I like the yellow it is the brightest. The red is kind of pink.Blue is cool too.Just pluges into your reciver. Both lights work for me.There is a small hum comes out of the glow driver.
