I have a turnigy and zippy battery, both 2200mah 3s 25c. I bought a 12v adapter and plugged it in. I used it since January, but lately for some reason something happened. My batteries (both) stopped lifting my helicopters (a quad and an hk450), which i guess is because of low voltage. I bought a low voltage alarm from HK, and when I tried it, it did not read a 3rd cell, only 2 lights lit up. I borrowed a voltage tester and it marked 8.34 volts, after charging it with a different charger. Still, it should be 11.1 volts. Any suggestions? Can this even be fixed? Thanks
 riley 19 points
When you charge your 11.1 v it is suposed to be at 12.6v each lipo cell are rated at 3.7 nominal volts and they charge at 4.2 volts per cell it will take at least 3 hours to charge a 3cell on that charer i have the same type. So either your adapter has gone out or most likely your battery is going dead and you will have to replace. And please give me credit

When I use my battery it gets very warm, so i guess this contributes to the idea that it has gone out. I will probably order a new charger also. Thanks for the help!
 riley 19 points
Thats definitly your problem if it is getting very warm
 Alvaro 5 points
Is there any way to fix or to revert it?

I have been using a generic 12V 1A adapter charging 2s 1300's with no problems. Generally more amperage is better just be careful not to exceed 12 volts.

can i use a 12v,1A adaptor for this charger??? pls help
 Gerry01 2899 points
Yes, it would be perfect for it. This charger has 0.8A output so a 1A power source is ok.

What do the LEDs indicate? I guess the red one shows if power is connected, and the green one if the battery is connected and then the green goes out when the battery is charged but what about blinking green??
 Serif 28 points
You are right, Red indicates the power. and green light turns off when its* charged, and unplugged.
 lProAgressive 32 points
serif you are right dude.
 Blanco 8 points
Reading the comments below I found some saying green flashing means balancing and some said it means fauly battery (too low voltage). In my case it really meant faulty battery. My 2S battery outputs a voltage equivalent to 1S for some reason.

will this charge a Turnigy nano-tech 3S 6400mAh 40C?
 Evgeniy 1 points
Why not? 3S - it is compatible. Charging time will be near 6400/800=8 hours. If you wish to charge faster - use more powerful charger.
 lProAgressive 32 points
yes you can do it but takes a little much time.. im using 2x turnigy 2s 5300mah 25 35c hardcase with parallel total 10.6a 2s battery.takes nearly 13 - 14 hours.
 Serif 28 points
*Agressive thanks for data. Do you have any experiment with 3S batteries?
 lProAgressive 32 points
yeap. in the other hand im charging my turnigy nanotech 3s 4000mah 40 80c lipos 2x the same time with paralel charging method.there is no difference
 Lucas 3 points
definitely should, charges any 2s or 3s battery.

SABA 007 what would you recommend to charge a turnigy nano 2200mah 2s 25~50c lipo pack?
 Gerry01 2899 points
A friend of mine has a HK450 heli with 2200 mAh batteries, and uses this charger. It works. It won't harm your batteries. It will take 3 hours to charge the battery because it has a fixed charge rate of 800 mAh.
 SABA 007 124 points
Floran PRODUCT ID: IMAXB6-FAKE this one is worth the price.go for it.You wont regret! Gerry01 yes most of the times it works well..But 2 of my friends have noticed that their battery performance decreased after they switched to this charger. Both of them use 1800mah 3s lipos..In my personal opinion this charger is perfect for lipos under 1000mah not for 1000mah<
 Gerry01 2899 points
Well, I guess it's not really a wonderfull thing... after all it's a 4.5$ charger. I also have Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger, it's very good, and another friend uses HobbyKing E4 Balance Charger, very good to, cheaper and easier to use.
 Lucas 3 points
i have two of these and they work great. nothing special but do what i need them to do.

Necromaster,Hernan,py5glf. My power supply have got 2 12Volts outputs: with 9A and 0.5 A Which I should use?
 py5glf 4 points
the output with 9A. The maximum current of this output is 9A, however it doesn't mean the balancer will drain this current. The power supply increases the current in accordance to the energy amount that balancer is needing. So, if the balancer is only 1A, the power supply will deliver 1A.If you use a balancer with 4A, the power supply will deliver 4A. ok?

I have an Elecrifly 3s 910mah 10wa balanced lipo battery with an Equinox balancer. Would this work with what I have?
 SABA 007 124 points
It will work fine as far as you use this charger under 1000mah lipos.I dont recommend these for batteries greater than 1000mah.enjoy flying

Necromaster. Can I use my old power supply for my PC. 12V 250 watts
 necromaster 189 points
Theoretically is should be ok based on voltage. Anyway you are producing about 20A from the power supply and my guess that this simple charger wont be able to handle that much amp. If you can reduce the amp to less than 5A then I think you are good to go.
 Hernan 1 points
It is fine for the voltage, as for the watts, Necromaster is incorrect, the amps at which you PC power supply is rated defines its ability to provide energy at 12V. Opposite to voltage, you cannot damage your battery or charger by connecting it to a power supply that is able to provide more current than what you need.
 py5glf 4 points
Yes, you can use the old power supply. Even the current produced at the power supply is higher than the balancer needs, it is not a problem because the charger / balancer will drain only the amount of energy that it needs.
maor  4 points - 4/25/2013

hello , is this charger is good enough for 7.4 v 500mah 2c ? or something alse is needed? thank you
 necromaster 189 points
yes this charger is ok for your lipo. but you will need additional power supply which is not included in this package.
Florian  1 points - 4/24/2013

can this thing charge a turnigy nano 2200mah 2s 25~50c lipo pack ?
 Gerry01 2899 points
Yes, you can. At the fixed charge rate of this charger it will take between 2 and 3 hours to charge it.
 SABA 007 124 points
You can.But in my opinion this charger is not good for lipos greater than 1000mah.This will deacrease the lipo's performance...

you very much!
 ccatalin 239 points
yes, it can be charge with this, it will take around 1 hour or so
 sisman 3 points
Yes it can. It takes albeit around 2.75 hours to charge a 2200 (2200mAh / 800mAh = 2.75)... So I recommend a charger that outputs at least 2000mAh. Then the charging takes a little more than an hour.
andrew  2 points - 4/18/2013

is there any way to plug thi charger straight into the wall
 Dan 1 points
yes, just get a 12v dc power adapter dc jack, it must be powerfull enough, one from an old internet router should do, its what i did
 ccatalin 239 points
if you have a computer home, open the case and there are a bunch of wires in yellow black red formation. Take an unused yellow and black wire and yellow will be positive and black negative. They supply 12v 500mah
 Dan 1 points
thats a good idea but its simpler to just get a power jack, they also can have more mah, my one i got from a router has 1.2ah (1200mah) and i didnt even try looking for one that was higher so if you did look youd probably find a better one
basit  1 points - 4/17/2013

I tried to charge my 2S 1800mah rx pack but the charging led leeps blinking... any ideas? thanks
 necromaster 189 points
Same problem happened to mine. 2S 1300mah lipo. Anyway I think that has to do with the adapter/power supply. I guess if we use adapter which is lower than 1A, it cannot charge higher than 1000mAh lipo. I might be wrong so I also looks for other explanation if there is.
 ccatalin 239 points
it seems that your charger detects only one cell. It will recharge that cell but you should check further the battery because you have a damaged cell.
 basit 1 points
i charged the battery with another charger and that one one worked well with the same power supply...
Succar  3 points - 4/17/2013

SO, if the charger is for 800mAh and the battery is 1600mAh I just need divide the 1600/800. Is this the account? my battery is a 5000mAh. It will take 6:15min to charge?
 DigDug 59 points
If it takes your charger 1 hour to charge a 800mAh battery then it will take twice as long to charge a 1600mAh and it will take roughly 6.2 hours to charge a 5000!!

I have this old power adapter from cheap china made charger, and i dont know can I use it with this charger. It says: Output: 15V 1.5A. So is this fine? I have both 2S and 3S batteries, and they are 1000-2000mAh.
 DigDug 59 points
That PSU will work but I wouldn't go any lower than 1.5A.
Lorenzo  1 points - 4/16/2013

it doesn't work... it seems charged but works only for 10 seconds than the battery is empty.. now i try whit a 1000mAh Adapter

600mAh 12 volts wall to DC power adapter can work whit this Charger? The charging rate will decrease? i use it to charge 2200 Turnigy 3S..
 Zoran 17 points
It will work fine. This charger takes no more than 600 mA, so it takes time to charge up. For 2200 mAh 3S approx. 4 hours.

I tried to reply to my previous question, but the site isn't able to let me...so I have to ask a second one like this. But will I need to get other connectors to charge a battery like this one (except mine is 1600mAh)? http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17293__Turnig

what is the difference between this one and another one (see here: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__21044__Hobbyk

l)?
Thanks for all the input!
 necromaster 189 points
This one above using the balancing lead to charge, so you dont need other connector as all lipo have the balancing lead. The other charger have higher amperage output and can charge 2S-4S as compared to 2S-3S (above).
Casper  67 points - 3/30/2013

this charger explodes if you put 20v on it!!!
 Gerry01 2899 points

Got this charger, and since it seems the manual was translated from mandarin using Google translate I didn't really get something regarding the PSU. I need to charge a 3C 1300mah battery, what is the average voltage and amperage needed?
 necromaster 189 points
You mean 3S 1300mah lipo? I think you will need at least 1.3A 12v PSU. It might work. I know it said it charge at 800mAh so you might think 0.8A PSU is sufficient but believe me its not. I tried to charge a 2S 1300mAh using 1A PSU and the charging never end even after 6 hours. End up I gave it to my lil bro to charge his 450mAh lipo.

I haven't been able to fly my planes for a very long time because my family was in an economic crisis. I had nothing to do this christmas. I didn't get any gifts and i was sad because all this wonderful time was being wasted. Thanks to hobbycity they made my christmas a little more special. I had to sell my old charger for the money. I had no way of charging my lipos, i bought this charger and now i can go to the park and fly and do what i love.

The charger comes with no instructions, but a quick check shows that the RED led means the charger is connected to 12 volts, the GREEN led means the unit is charging and the charging is complete when the GREEN led goes out.

The charger seems to work just fine and the price is hard to beat.

It's just red led is power on..
Red led & green Led.. Power ON and charging..
Other indicators/audio??? None...
It seems to charge at regular rate of around 500 mA so nothing else is needed..
If your batteries are in good shape (and they should always be) this little sucker is SO CHEAP! and effective.
At this price and current draw you could use several at once..
For obvious reasons, limited to 2S & 3S.
Balancing is well within the performance of other much more expensive units..
Definitely a buy even if, like me, you are just curious..

It fully works with 3S only one day. After that something was broken and currently it charges only 2S battery packs. Balancing is good but very slow. It checks if all cells have the same voltage and if not - it will discharge cells with higher voltage before start real charge. It haven't indicator what is doing right now (balancing or charging), so you never know how long it will take. Consider buying a real charger instead of this.

I am using this charger for more than a year and I am very happy with it. Individual cell voltages are in the 4.15 to 4.17 volt range. For me this is good, the 3 led version(AC or DC) overcharge cells 4.21 to 4.24 volt.
I have no proof that can balance packs, but surely at abnormal voltage the green led blinks. The 3 led version can charge individual cell of the pack. Recently I made a connector and measured charging current 0.82Ah as advertised
