TURNIGY marine ESC's are built with USA IR mosFET's for long run times and less heat. Boat esc's have a different requirement to air or car esc's. Their need for sustained high-amp draw makes plane esc's unsuitable and car esc's with large amp spike capability, unnecessary. Thats why TURNIGY marine esc's are designed purely for boats, and coated in anti-static then water resistant laquer to prevent shorting should the esc get wet. They can handle sustained high amp/volt loads and handle heat better than a car or plane esc.
What makes this ESC better than others? -Well designed MCU, with efficient code makes for faster sync and accurate timing.
-Fast clock cycle MCU combined with efficient code means 100,000rpm cpu cycle* -Efficient FET's reduce heat and deliver sustained switching at high amp/voltage. -Well designed PCB (6 layer) and circuit diagram handles high-amp without burnout. -Large motor comptability. Smooth starts, linear throttle curve.
-Active water cooled heatsink that actually works.

I am very new to this stuff. I had problem getting the speed control to work for things did not work as the instructions said. In particularly, I had a red light on and don't know what it meant. I had used another ESC very similarly in look but the other controls worked fine but the speed control stuck in an unknown state. If anyone can help , I would appreciate.

We programmed it to run fwd and bwd. It runs backward after restart just until you run it once forward.
Unplug it and it runs backward again. Over and over, until you run it once forward, then backward does not work anymore.
How can this be?
If you pull the trigger at full speed, is the motor/boat move forward? If not try switch/swap two wires/connectors from the motor to esc..Hope this help.
Now it's clear, that the ESC has a Car-Software. It behaves like "Brake - Put it to Neutral - Then back again and then it moves backward."
It's quite clear and not a problem of the polarity.
No chance to change this by programming, the programming is like in the manual.
HK asks for a video to prove this behaviour - this must be a joke...
I bought this ESC for my nqd jetboat build I have it all installed with a 4800kv watercooled motor and a zippy 2s 20c 2200mah lipo. When i plug in the battery I get no response at all. Motor won't move and neither will my servo. The ESC blinks red and beeps every couple seconds and thats all it will do.
I tried multiple receivers but have the same result each time. Can anyone help me out ?
Check your receiver, do you have a servo driver to test the esc/servo? I have one equal in looks but its 60A. Its a very good esc handles more amps than rated with no problems. Regards
If ur servo also cannot responded..may be ur esc did not received any power supply from ur lipo..may be there is something wrong with ur esc connectors..try resolder it again..try hope this help.
Im gonna run this ESC with Centurion Mini (stock motor).
Is this ESC gonna be okay, if i put P1.7 35mm 2 blade prop with it??? Will the setups burns this ESC??? Or i should get a bigger ESC??? Pls advice. Thx in advance.
No, but if you want to do something nice without drilling your boat get a mini fuel tank, fill it with car liquid cooler and make your own cooling system with a water pump, heat sink with a computer mini fan... the pump would not cavitate but in my case (ive done it already)I connected a open tube to the fuel tank above this system (so liquid dont get out) because of pressure/heat differences. Get it? :)
are you sure that the water cooling segment is correct installed?
I have the same ESC in my off shore warrior.
Work´s perfectly. Which motor are in used?
im using this esc with 2200 3S nano-tech 35-70C with no problem..what motor are you using? make sure the amp draw are not exceeding the 35A..and may be your esc are not receiving the proper water/cooling flow..
im using a 2200 3s 30-40 discharge and the motor is a 2040SL 4800kv Brushless Inrunner (WaterCooled) someone please help me the boat that it is on is a nqd jet drive boat
Im using the same one for my small boat. Trust me its reliable. Been a year now still working perfectly. This is for brushless sensorless motor. base on the picture, the 3 black wires on the right goes to the motor, the red, black wires on the left goes to the battery.
About 3 month ! I`ve set an 3.5 timing now and it works now, but i will try on 0.0 timing and also on 7.5 (Tim ) I have to test on water ! It`s heating if is not on watercooling !
Please tell me, for inrunner brushless motors, what timing i need to the MARINE 35 ?
I have an inrunner, and i d,ont now what timing to choose !
please help me !
Thanks again, the wires to Rx from ESC were cut ! I`we put back and now it works, but it`s heating ! i must make test for diverse timing, i hope it will be ok ! Best regards, Lucian
Hi Hobbyking, Now, i have orderd this ESU. I have look always to the wight and there are 131 gr. But, the ESU has only 86 gr. !! That's realy more of wight that i will pay for shipping !! Kind regards Willi
Hi Mike-L, Thanks for your answer, but .............. The ESC has 32 gr only. With the packing it is 86 gr. and i pay for 131 gr. !! When i look to my order, i have pay for the next shipping-cost range, that are USD 6.99 insted USD 5.99. OK, it is only USD 1.- but it is not correct. When i haved order more, then the effect will be bigger and bigger !! That's the point. Kind regards Willi
it can, but you will have to program reverse into it unfortunately. This can be done with the turnigy programming card which is compatible with all turnigy marine esc's. the program card is: PRODUCT ID: TG-Prog, only $5.70 but theres only a few left in stock, be quick!
Save yourself the money on the programming card, You don't really need it. You can do it manually! It comes with a manual with easy to follow instructionson how to set it up for forward/reverse. I've done it, it's easy! It also has several programmable modes for lipo cut-off, it's all in the manual :) Good luck!
As above, except i've tested it. It's a smooth linear curve but it seems to have a tiny ***p at the end of the throttle band. I actually like the way it acts, as I use it for a "turbo boost" at the top of the band. Overall it's a pretty great ESC, I'm running a 380 size motor with it and it never even gets hot.
Hi,
I have the 35A one,I am trying to run it for the first time
It does not beep ,,, I can see one red LED flashing.
Motor does not run either.
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Ralson
You have to program the control before it will do much. Read the instruction and compare with your transmitter info. This controller has a reverse function you need to program as well
This work without very silens beeps/ I try to use this with 2040SL 4800kv Brushless Inrunner (WaterCooled)on 2S/3S Li-Po power. In default this work with forward only mode and NO any programming required forthis.
Appears to be same as Hobbywing SeaKing ESC, I puchased elsewhere and manual seems very close. More of a statement than a question. This was not available when I puchased. using to replace dead esc in Piranha 400 ( original was rated 25amp )
Im using two ESC in a mini hydro boat. Its much stroger than a normal 35A ESC. And the burst rate is super fast. Its the best to use in a mini or a small boat.
(ahmmedh)
thats a question that cant be given a direct answer, any motor that dont pull more than 35A constant but recommned only pulling about 30A constant (keep heat down) and the boat size part you decide what hull you wont first then the motor required and then esc and then batterys if you know what hull you wont we might be able to give some advise on the setup required
ok, heres a sample. can i use this esc with this motor to a 1:14 scale boat? 2040SL 4800kv Brushless Inrunner (WaterCooled) Kv: 4800rpm/v Diameter: 25.2mm Length: 56mm Shaft diameter: 2.3mm Weight: 77g Battery: 2-3S 2200mAh
Hi, I hope this answer helps. This ESC will sink up to 35 A continuous. You want a motor that does not draw more than 35A max (maybe better to go with 30A to be on the safe side). The voltage of the motor can be either 2 or 3 cell since the ESC can handle 2 or 3 cell. This ESC can be used on boats up to about 15 inches or so. I have tried to use it on a larger boat (30 inch mono), but the motor overworked itself and burnt up. I needed a bigger motor and consequently a bigger ESC. Hope tha
2035-2040 motor size witch cooling jacket for 20 size motor and boat to 400mm long.Any biger boat from this size give you risk for motor shaft(very thin and easy bend)
No, it cannot. The reverse power is only about half of forward power. Nice ESC but not full power reverse. Also, the reverse function is double touch meaning that you have to touch reverse once, move the stick to center then touch reverse again to get it to go in reverse. Not real conducive for a thruster setup. This is a wonderful ESC for boating though! Mine gives great power.
Use any Lipos (I am a fan of the Turnigys) that are 2 and 3 cells - with at least a 20c rating considering that you are going to use this in a boat. The mAh will be determined by what your boat can fit and the amperage that your system draws.
Yes the 7/32 or the 1/2 is fine and also alway's cool the 35amp speedcontrole first not the motor,I have this one in my mini cat with a b2835 2700 turnigy and love it.
I am new to boating, my question is do I need to fit a water pump to cool the esc as I don't see any on hobby king, perhaps I am not looking in the right place or does the esc draw the water through.
Hi, no you don't need a pump. If you are fitting out the boat yourself then when you buy a rudder/ drive system most are fitted with a water pick up so as the boat travels through the water the speed of it forces water through an inlet. you just need some silicone tubing to get it from the pick up through a fitting in the transom to the ESC/ motor. Then just some more tubing to take the water back out through an outlet.
I placed two of these in my Villain Ex. You simply apply the tubing so that it draws water from behind the boat and possible draw some copper or aluminum tubing arround the engine. The water is then spat out the side. ESC needs to be cooled since it is placed inside the boat without adequate airflow. You are able to progrma reverse aswell. Just read instructions.
Do what the rest of them say. Use a water pickup in your rudder (most are fitted with one-look for the output on top of the rudder assembly). The force of the water from the rudder as it moves through the water is sufficient to cool this esc. In fact, the water moves too quickly through the tubes and does not reach the maximum cooling capacity. The fix this, crimp the water tubes a little tighter at some point in your system using a twist tie or a small piece of wire. This will slow the flo
Mine rocked up without a switch soldered to it. I've heard of a few others having the same problem. Quality control? This is a physical defect, not software, so it should have been noticed before it was sent. Replacement please.
Its common for ESC's not to have a switch. With the fact they will not arm until zero throttle is detected and that a switch on a boat ESC is just another thing that can malfunction when wet. I know there is one on in the picture but mine also does not have a switch, still works as intended. I would say that losing the switch is an improvement, it's not needed and could lead to problems with an otherwise water resistant unit.
Thanks black hander. I don't own a speedy that automatically sets up you throttle range, and this is apparently the first one that does? It hits full throttle at about half pull of the trigger. That could be fixed with the set up switch. As for water proofing, I have my electronics on the inside of the boat to avoid them getting wet. I might see if I can short the terminals to get my throttle range. I guess that the item picture is slightly different from what I received and I regard the set up switch as rather important for all of my RC toys. I'm happy to be corrected here. Thanks again for your quick reply - much appreciated.
to set up throttle range, turn on Tx, hold throttle at max, plug in ESC. The ESC should make a different tone to normal, pull the throttle to zero and the ESC should make it's normal tone, your throttle range is now set. Wow, when they said "water cooled" I must have misunderstood, mounting the next one inside the boat. *P (just kidding, occasionally water gets inside aswell). I know it's fiddly setting parameters with your Tx but you can adjust any function of the ESC once you get into programming mode. Programming cards are good value for this and will work with many different ESC's.Cheap at under $10.
Cheers blackhander, I'll give the full throttle TX idea a go. I've never tried that one before. Always thought you had to set it via the 'set up switch' - but that will be some very handy info. Once again, I appreciate your quick reply/feeback.
contact CS via email or live chat. this is a definate fault and will be resolved. if it isnt, nuke the HK forum and you will attract interest from CS who are not willing to have a bad reputation.
Thanks Fathead, live chat may be the last option. I have already sent two emails away last week (a couple of days apart) and I still have not heard back. As for bad reputation, it is this CS that is rather important. I love hobbyking, and I love the products, but the CS could have some improvement. My only answers are coming from this little product review. (thank you).
I have two of these ESC's and they don't feature switches. They are both fitted in Jetboats I have built and they work very well. No switch required and they arm when the battery is plugged in. Never had a problem and my Jetboats get used regularly.
Yes they do have a reverse but you need to have an esc programing card. You can get one for about $10.00. The stock esc is forward only till you reprogram it.
send me a mail to q-kevers*hotmail**** and I send you a copy of the manual!

I buy this product to use in small boat(Aquacraft mini rio), with a turnigy 2700. I have had many problems with a normal ESC, because we usually run at the sea with salt water. But now many times the salt water touch the ESC, and even in this situation, the ESC run normally. To prevent problems I use a contact cleaner, and for the moment I don't have problem. For my boat is the best choise.
