Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories
Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories

The Turnigy Accucel 6 Balance Charger utilises quality FETs and resistors to accurately balance and charge Lithium Polymer and NiMH batteries.
The Accucel-6 will handle LiPo/LiFe up to 6S and NiMH/NiCd up to 15S and shows individual cell voltage during charge with realtime updates throughout the charge cycle.
The intuitive menu system means charging and cycling is an easy process and can be done quickly and accurately either at the field by using a 12v input such as a car battery or at home with a 12v power supply.
Bundled with the Accucel-6 is a bunch of input and output wires which should satisfy any charging requirement.

ATTENTION.
There are several chargers now entering the China market that look similar to the Accucel. These chargers are produced with cheaper FETs and are unfortunately much less accurate and very unsafe. There has been reports of the copied chargers over-charging packs and not balancing correctly.
The Accucel-6 is the first charger in the market with this PCB layout Circuit design. Any charger with the same circuit diagram is most definitely a copy. We have tested the copied chargers ourselves, their componentry is of a very low quality and the manufacturing company that has produced the copy has used a process of duplicating our CPU(MCU)s hex file and flashed a similar chip(MCU) to produce a similar product. This means they do not have the original code and therefore cannot bug-test(QC) or update the charger at any point.
Our chargers have CE and RoHS certification, proving their safety.
Plus, thousands of customers the world over have used our chargers with excellent results.
Your batteries are expensive. We understand this and thats why we will not carry low-quality charging devices.
Trust only in TURNIGY® quality charging devices.

Reskovic - Hock (67%)
How to cycle LiPo batteries with this charger? can't find the option in the menu, I see it printed on the charger(charge/discharge cycle=5) and mentioned in manual, but not for LiPo.
   Saurabh (98%)
Hi Reskovic,

Unfortunately, there is no option to cycle Lipo on this charger. The cycle option is available only for NiMh and NiCd batteries.
Generally, you dont need to cycle Lipos... do you??
Hope this helps :)
Cheers !!!

Hello everyone, I am trying to charge for the first time a Turnigy 3cell 11.1v 1000mah battery. I have the charger set at 1.0a at 11.1v under lipo charge. when I press enter to start the charge it highlights the the 1.0a option and blinks. How do I get it to start charging? Thanks for the help.
   Faust1977 (100%)
Got it, just had to reread the manual. Thanks!

I have a laptop power supply here that I would like to use for this charger. It's a Gateway LiteOn 50-60Hz 19V 3.42A 65W. Will it work? Any limitations?
   Saurabh (98%)
no.. input voltage is limited to 17v only please. Do not use the 19V supply or else it may burn the charger.
   Peckes (20%)
I won't use it with 19V
   fordfm (39%)
No. Input Voltage: 11~17v. 19V burn charger.
   arfonzo (63%)
The power supply range is 10.0~18.0 Volt.

Dmytro (34%)
So mine goes crazy while charging a LiIon pack of 2s4p configuration. During the balanced charging process, the individual cell voltage readings jump all the way up & down, up to -0.4V. Sometimes they stabilize and stay stable.
The current reading fluctuates sometimes too. If I charge at 3A, it may suddenly drop to 2A or 1.5A and then return back to 3A.
What may be wrong? I'm gonna take it apart and check for ***r soldering, but maybe someone faced a similar issue, so I'd be glad to hear any thoughts.
No issues when charging an 1s battery cell.
And yes, I have connected everything correctly.
   Dmytro (34%)
This turned out to be a loose balancing plug which didn't provide reliable contact. Took the plug apart, tightened the contacts, and now everything works perfectly.

Just want to confirm: You ONLY connect the balance port from the lipo to this charger?

Because the connections on the other wires shown don't match anything on my lipo...

Want to charge Rhino 460 maH 2S lipo's.

Is this the right charger?

Does it charge through the balance port or through the power wires? Do you have to connect BOTH the balance port and power wires?

Does it have the right connections for the Rhino 2S 460 mAH Lipo?

Thanks!
   Saurabh (98%)
It has all the required stuff to charge the batteries mentioned and the components you have mentioned. It is perfect for this battery.
   misterq (43%)
yep good charger for that purpose, to balance charge lipos you must have both the power connection and balance connection made to the charger.
   fordfm (39%)
You have to connect BOTH the balance port and power wires.

Babu (47%)
Does it Cycle Pb and Lipos also ?
   Saurabh (98%)
No. This does not have a menu for cycling Lipo or Pb. you have do it manually. Discharge first and then charge again.

Anyone know if this charger beeps or makes a noise when it's done charging? minor feature but pretty important to me...
   Henry. (50%)
Yes it sounds a little special sound during some seconds when the battery are charged and the sound is a little high as well.

Its about a year since i bought this charger and its by far the best charger i have ever own.
   Saurabh (98%)
Yes. Once the charging or discharging is complete, the charger beeps for 30 secs. One of the really good chargers for sure... Just amazing value for money. It has a mettalic body. But beware... it does not come with manual or any MULTICONNECTOR. be sure to buy a multiconnector plugs with it. Like the octopus charging harness.
   berrykooiman (-45%)
Yes it beeps but you shut it off in the menu
   growmaster4 (47%)
yes it will beep to let you know its done
   misterq (43%)
yes it does have a beep feature
   Peckes (20%)
Yes, it beeps 3-4 times after it's done charging, and it's configurable from menu, you can turn it on/off.

Jonathan (34%)
This may be a silly question, but I have a lead-acid 12V 7Ah battery. I should be able to use that, right? And does that mean the charger will get 7amps of current? Left over from my glow days... Thanks
   mattyhawk (81%)
Yes, it does work on Gel Cells / Lead Acid, but not 7A, charge at .7A.
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   Jonathan (34%)
Thanks much. In that case, I'm going to use this 200W PC PSU not getting any use.
   Anthony (50%)
i think so, the charger can produce 5amps although its not a true reading its slightly lower than stated good value for money charger thast for sure i bought a few of these and sold a couple on
   fordfm (39%)
Charge current is 0,4-0.7A , not large. Battary is boil with 7A :).

I just purchased this Turnigy Accucel-6 Balancer/Charger and upon plugging in a battery I get "connection break", I've tried 4 diffrent batteries and I get the same on all 4, anyone have any ideas? Is it me or the charger?
   berrykooiman (-45%)
I had the same problem. Only solution is to buy the power supply offered by HobbyKing.
   Jon (100%)
I had the same problem when using only the "BALANCE" port without the heavier Deans connector hooked up
   fordfm (39%)
check plug and connectors.

Rodolfo (25%)
Hey, I just ordered this charger/balancer, but I do not see where I got the 4 bonus points that one is suppose to be rewarded. Anyone know how the "4.0 bonus points" thing works?
   Muza (38%)
Hi Rodolfo, in your account page, on the right side, just under the "View Cart" there's a box saying "$ xxx points" Next time you buy something, you can use them as a discount on the checkout page. I hope that helps.
   Rodolfo (25%)
That does help, thank you. My other question is where did the bonus 4 points go? I only got the points from purchases which didn't even add up to 4 points. I'm really hoping this is a delayed thing, and not a mistake...
   Muza (38%)
Hi Rodolfo, That's weird. Because I ordered these on two separate orders (one for my brother) and on both orders I got 4 points. Check your order invoice and see if you already cached in any points during the checkout (as a discount)? Otherwise I'd click that "Live support" button, on the top of the screen and have a short chat with the support.
   Muxa (25%)
I had the same situation with these 4 points. :( Communicating with Live Support did not solve the situation. They said that these points is temp and can be removed anytime. You can't proove that this action was in this product while ordering. It's a very dissapointed case. Probably it is a trick to solve more items...
   berrykooiman (-45%)
You get the points after delivery
   growmaster4 (47%)
it will be in your account details, just choose to turn them in on your next purchase
   fordfm (39%)
bonus points may be used with next order on 3 pages when process checkout.

Which AC 110V power supply do I need for the Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories? thank you
   Muza (38%)
Hi Nortony, save the money. Just get an old 16 Volt IBM laptop power adapter (1-5$) at any surplus. They are usually rated for 4-4.5A and thats more than 50W making them a perfect match for this charer.
   berrykooiman (-45%)
Best is to buy the power supply offered by Hobbyking.

   Saurabh (98%)
english plz
   rudeboy (-16%)
i have 2 of this chargers, one from january 2010, one fro, june. they differ in printing. the new one shows too less mAh that were charged. But the cut off voltage is ok (approx 4,19V per cell). Does anyone other have this problem or does know how to solve this? Or is it caused by bad shunts (if there are shunts used)?

Hello!
I have an adapter 12V 1,5A. Can I use it with this charger?
   Morten (29%)
yes you can use a 12V 1,5A. But if you do so, you cant charge higher then (12x1,5=18Watts). wuld be better to get a powersuply who can delivere 50Watts. Im using an old Ibm laptop charger for powersuply. (16V 4,5A = 72Watts) that works perfectly :D
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   Saurabh (98%)
yes you may use the said adapter if you are charging small batteries.... but it is advisible to use a laptop adapter instead as mentioned by Morten in the above post.
   Huygens (45%)
it is better that you use a 15v 5a adaptater
   fordfm (39%)
Yes. But better find 14V-15V power supply.

Lorenzis (25%)
Hi, I'm planning to buy this charger but I'm not sure to correclty understand specifications. It says: Circuit power: Max Charge: 50W Charge Current Range: .1~6.0A Does it means that tha maximum charging current for a 6 cells Lipo will be roughly 50W/(3.75*6)=2.2A? I'm planning to buy a 6 cells Lipo pack *4000mhA but I have the suspect that this charger will be not "strong" enough. Thanks for your advise! Stefano
   Waco (78%)
Yes, your calculation is right. Because Power=Voltage*Current, for 6S Battery you can set charging current about 2A only.
   vynner (64%)
yes its strong enough to charge a 6s lipo.. i've been using this to charge my 5000mah 6s lipo no problems. a very economical yet very good and accurate charger.. i've even used it to charge my bikes pb battery.. very good charger recommended!!!
   Lorenzis (25%)
Thank you guys for your adivses. I think I will go for the Accucel-8 150W 7A that seems more suitable for my case. Do you think that the power supply named GTpower SuperConD Adapter 100-240v 12.5A will fit for the Accucel-8 charger? Thanks again
   Anthony (50%)
this charger can charge at 6amps mine does 5amps its the earlier model it will be fine for 6slipo- for good batterly life you shouldnt charge a 6s4mah more than 2Aanyway, evven though you can charge it at like 8amps
   berrykooiman (-45%)
It's better to buy a more professional charger if you want to charge 6s packs * 4000mah. This charger will work but speedcharging at double speed will be impossible.

   rc-france-mode (72%)
yes it s the same. *
   Saurabh (98%)
Yes absolutely... this will work with iMax 5A supply. Usually these power supplies are 65 W or so... go for it...
   Waco (78%)
Yes, it can work with iMAX 5A power supply, the plug to chaeger will fit too.
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   Huygens (45%)
yes it can work
i have bought the imax 5a powersuply fort this charger

Hello, this charger says that can use for LiFe batteries, LiFe = LiFePo4??? In the program there isn't the possibility to select something different than LiPo, NiCd, NiMh and Lead. Can I charge A123 batteries?
   Saurabh (98%)
Yes, you can charge the 123 cells as well. In the program setup, choose the lipo type as Life.
   sam (34%)
A123 cells are LifePO4 type so yes you can
   vynner (64%)
for lifePo batteries.. you gotta change the settings in the user program go to lipo setting then change the the lipo charge to lifePo.. then to charge your lipo it'll be vice versa..

Hi, I am interesting in this product thinking about the future but now I only have 1/3AA 150mAH 4.8v Ni-MH and 7.4V 180mAh LiPo Battery. Can I charge them with tis charger?
   Saurabh (98%)
Yes. Perfectly. Go ahead and buy the charger. it will charge the said batteries.
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   DJ FERRAZ (69%)
yes u can, that`s the best choice for lipo and ni-mh, nicd batt. !!
   guven (20%)
yep you can charge it as their plugs. when you plugged in your battery to accucel then it will show you how to charge.
   andres felipe (15%)
compralo que si te sirve para cargar esas baterias y ademas va muy bien su carga nominal es perfecta para cualquier bateria te lo recomiendo
   Camboui (20%)
Is this a better choice than the imax B6 ?
   sam (34%)
yes it will do that no problems as you have a 4 cell Ni-Mh pack and a 2 cell LiPo pack
   David_RS (34%)
Thanks for all, I have already bought *)
   freddan_6 (87%)
Yes it works with NiMH and LiPo. Current is settable in 0.1 A steps.
   vynner (64%)
yes you can.. this charger charges almost every rechargeable batteries you can find in the market even can charge your car's battery..

Spyre (27%)
Is there an adapter that needed to charge two 2S Lipos at once? ANd if so, what's the part # ?
   Saurabh (98%)
Yes there is one twin adapter. you can charge 2 batteries at the same time (3 cell Lipo only)

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10993&aff=102667
   Spyre (27%)
Thanx Saurabh, unfortuantely I am looking to charge two 2s Lipos not 3s :(
   Saurabh (98%)
ok. then you can buy the extension leads like the one below and combine two leads to make a parallel twin charge lead.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9735&aff=102667

Justin (25%)
I'm new to the world of batteries like this and chargers, etc, so this may be a stupid question. I just don't want to blow up my LiPo battery. I just bought this charger and a Rhino 2620mAh 3S 11.1v Low-Discharge battery. It has a JST-XH charge port, and two different discharge ports (Futaba and JR). I've tried connecting the JST-XH to the Accucel, but I keep getting a break connection error. Help?
   p3tras (56%)
Does it work with other batteries? I think battery balance wire can be loose
   Justin (25%)
I only have two of the Rhino 2620mAh 3S batteries, and neither work. I've read that you have to have the balance port and a discharge port connected, but I also know that connecting them incorrectly can cause explosions and such.
   Ionshock (49%)
Did you connect the discharge plugs as well? You need to hook up the red, black and balance plugs to charge and/or balance the pack. =)
   Justin (25%)
*Ionshock: does it matter which set I attach? The Rhino battery pack has the two different discharge ports. I'd assume that they're connected together, but I really would like to not have the battery pack blow up in my face... :/
   Justin (25%)
Also, how should I connect the discharge plugs? The battery pack's discharge plugs are either Futaba or JR types. Can I just use some jumper wires and stick them in one of the discharge ports and put the other end in the alligator clips out from the output?
   p3tras (56%)
You should connect balance plug and one of discharge leads *) And yes you can use your described method for charging, just be careful, make sure that wires don't touch each other. But it would be best to buy or make Futaba or JR plugs to XT60 connection and charge safely.
   Waco (78%)
You need to connect JST-XH balance plug to "Individual cell connector port" (balance port) and one of discharge ports (for example Futaba) through corresponding charging lead to "Charging lead connector" on your charger and you can charging your battery. See Operating manual (LiPo, 3S). For first charging I recommend to set lower charging current (0,5A), it saves lifetime of your battery.
   freddan_6 (87%)
You need a cable between "output" of the charger and the battery main output (you call it discharge port) as well to charge the battery.
   vynner (64%)
first check the program mode then check all of your connection.. check the polarity of your connection.. if you use a balance mode then plug in the balancer socket into the charger..

N4505 (40%)
ok, newbie here.. I have a laptop power supply that says 20V - 3.25A output. Can I use it with this charger?
   p3tras (56%)
Maybe it would work, but I wouldn't recommend using it because charger might go bad very soon. It only supports up to 17V
   wizzertz (25%)
Charger requires 12v. I wouldn't use the 20v power supply
   misterq (43%)
Input Voltage: 11~17v according to the specifications, I would not recommend using that 20v laptop power supply. However you could easily plug it into a car 12v system, thats how I use mine.
   Waco (78%)
No, in any case! Your laptop power suply deliver to high voltage (20V) and can damage your charger! Input voltage can be 11V - 18V max. See Operating manual. I recommend to use 12V/5A power supply from this web sites (or from ecpower for $10,99 inc. shipping).
   cd_torr (20%)
Manual states 11v - 18v. TI maybe able to handle but I would not try it as it may fry the charger.
   Ed (67%)
Probably not as is, and obviously not above 3.25A. There are some fixes for using desktop computer power supplies online to use as power supplies for chargers, which work quite well - just adding power resistors. Perhaps someone else can comment on the laptop supply.
   freddan_6 (87%)
No, the specs says input DC 11-18V.
   vynner (64%)
this charger operates from 11v-18v anything more or less will result in an in voltage error..
   kory (25%)
no. this charger requires 12v 5amp power supply
   Morten (29%)
20V seems abit too high, i wuldnt go higher then 18,5V input.
   growmaster4 (47%)
no,to many volts there,i believe it can go to 15volts

Anyone have trouble with theirs getting hot? I charged a 2s 5700 *5amps and it hit 43C after 20 minutes. This was on a bench in a cool basement. Its useless outdoors if it gets this hot because its 35C outside! My venom pro does not get hot, just warm.
   vynner (64%)
i haven't encounter this problem actually even when i'm charging up my 6s lipo

Michael (25%)
Today I connected the Charger first time to a Power-Supply (12 V) and turned it On.
At the first time, it beeped and started correct, and I could use the menu.
But then I had to turn it Off, and since then I am not able to use the Accucel.
When I turn on the Power-Supply, the Display turns On (blue Backlight) and shows a Row of white rectangles but nothing else.
It does not beep, and I have no possibility to do anything whith the buttons.
Also the fan does not turn.

Has anyone an idea what could be the reason for this?
   Saurabh (98%)
looks like a firmware issue. the factory guys will have to flast the firmware again. You may want to return it to HK if it is under warranty... but i know shipping will be a killer.
   Firepower (24%)
Have you checked the 12 volts with a multimeter? If it is correct you have a bad one.
   vynner (64%)
well all i know is that the fan only turns on when it starts charging.. the rest of the problems i think you gotta send it back for technical check ups

Hello, I've been using this charger with succes with my 2200mAh lipos but I want to use it also to charge my NiMH batteries.
I have AA 2500 mAh batteries and I would like to know the rated current I should use to charge them? Also tha number of cells could be variable? I didnt see where to program in the charger the number of cells.
Is it better to use the Auto mode than the Manual mode? Why?

Thank you!
   scaryaaron (0%)
I set up mine for auto mode using delta peak detection and it chargers my NiMH batteries fine. There is a manual in the community forum for the charger that will tell you exactly how to set it up.

The optimum charge rate for NiMh batteries is 0.1C which means, if you have a 2500mah battery, then charge them at 250 mA
Incase you are connecting the cells in series, then the charging current remains the same (i.e. 250 mA), but if you are connecting your cells in Parallel, then the capacity of the battery is doubled. so if you connect 2 cells of 2500 in parallel then charge them at 500mA (i.e. 0.1C of 5000 mAh)
It is better to use Auto mode as the charging current will never go beyond the specified current rate and it will keep reducing once the capacity of the battery has reached.

Hope this helps. !!!

When charging NiMh I have not seen manual and auto but just the one way. You do not need to worry about the number of cells as it works it out itself. It just charges till it can not put more (actually drops back a bit) in and just stops. I charge them at .6 amp.
   vynner (64%)
well go to the nimh or nicd whatever your rechargeable batteries are.. then put it to 2.5 and charge them up..
   Morten (29%)
it dosnet need to be told the ammont of cells for nimh, it messures that. the slower you charge a NiMh the better. Do not charge faster then 1x C. 2500mah batteri max 2.5A charge for 1hr15min.
   xghj (34%)
i would not charge any nimh over 1.5 amps. the numer of cells is automaticly detected so there is no need to program that in, and i always use the auto mode because as the battery charges the charger lowers the amps to keep the pack voltage from getting too high.

Hello i am also new to the electric hobby. I would like to buy this charger and Turnigy 5800mAh 2S 25C Lipo Pack but i read that 5000mmh is the highest charge rate it can handle. Dose that mean i cannot use this battery at all with this charger??
   Saurabh (98%)
Surely you can use that battery with this charger. You can even use a 9000 mah battery. 5000mah is the max capacity at which this charger can charge. this means that this charger will be able to charge your batteries upto 5 AMPS of current.
If you have a 10000mah battery, and use this charger at 5000ma, it will take twice the time to charge your battery.
Dont worry dude, you can use any battery with this charger. !!!
   Waco (78%)
No, you may as well to use this charger to charge your 5800mAh battery. You dont need surely to use just 1C (5,8A) charging current. If you will set lower charging current, charging time will be longer (for example on 3A - approx. 2 hours), but it is better for the lifetime of your battery.
   vynner (64%)
you can but i think it may take a little bit longer to charge up..
   Morten (29%)
no. that just means it will take more then 1 hour to fully charge the Lipo.

I just got this in and I am new to the electric hobby. I have a Lightmax 4500 30c 3 cell 11.1v max charge 5C, and i want to chrge it for the fist time. What amps should i pick?????
   Saurabh (98%)
go for 5 amps full... but because of the limited output of 50W the charger will automatically reduce the charge current to suit 50W output
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   XavierF (34%)
4500 is 4,5A and 5C is 5 times the capacity then you can charge at 22,5A, with this charger the maximum, 6A
   Saurabh (98%)
It will not charge a 3 cell Lipo at 6Amps due to limited power of 50Watts. The max it can charge a 3 cell Lipo is at approx 5 Amps and that too only if the battery is completely flat.
As the battery charges and the voltage of the cells increase, the charging current will fall.
   Saurabh (98%)
So even if you set the charge current to 6Amps and start the charge process with a 3 Cell lipo, the max you will see on the screen will be 5amps or less.
   masterlen (25%)
the best for the battery is charging with 1C, that means 4,5 Amps. greets Lennart
   JOHN (50%)
hi,i have had this charger for a while now and have found it works very well .Personally i would charge it at 4.5amps if i am not in a rush, and when you want it charging quiker just set it to 5 amps, but no more.
   Brainanator (34%)
It is usually safest to charge at 1C, which is just the capacity of the battery. So for you, it would be 4500mA, or 4.5A. It is also called a Flightmax battery, the F is very decorated, and hard to read *)
   Wiretap (28%)
Charge at 1-5C, that is 1-5x the capacity of the charger, higher 'C' is faster charge, 1C = 1hr, 2C= 1/2hr, etc... 1C for you would be 4.5A, the charger won't likely do more than that, best bet would be a bigger charger.
   chrisn (58%)
I would recommend charging at 1C to maximise battery life - that would mean charging your battery at 4.5 amps. You will find that the max charge rate on this charger is 5 amps although the specs say 6 amps.
   teflon don (24%)
you need to pic 4.5 amps to charge with 1 c this charger can only handle 50 watts so don't try to charge with more than 1c
   casper20 (15%)
4.5-5 A its OK
   vynner (64%)
pick 4.5 amps
   Morten (29%)
1/2 C for the first 2-3 times. =2,3A. (~2hr charge) then after that you can charge at 13,5A after that:P

I am trying to use this charger to charge single NiMH low-self-discharge AAs. The one I am trying right now is 2100mAh. I am charging at 1.0A (0.5c) and the battery is rapidly getting too hot to touch, and the voltage gets up to 1.68v and still the delta-v hasn't triggered and shut the charging down. Aren't these batteries supposed to stop around 1.4v? Why is it still charging and overheating?
   Saurabh (98%)
ok. try discharging the battery to the min and then charge it at slow rate. may be around 200ma. ensure that the delta settings in the user settings are at default. incase if not, you may lower this value to detect small peaks as well. Hope this helps.
   teflon don (24%)
i had the same problem either there is a design flaw in the system or you have the change something in the setting
   Firepower (24%)
The 2000mah enloops from dealextreme are the only AA batteries to buy. They say they are fake but I have done tests on them and that are good. My transmitter packs of 8 enloops go to 13.5 volts when charging - that is if the reading is correct. That is about 1.7 volts each one. I charge at .6amps. I think that is what you are suppose to use.

   Firepower (24%)
What you see is what you get. Even with the expensive Swallows you get basically nothing and I see on the forums everyone complaining and they pay $150. The 12 volt power pack is about $15 and I just bought the good multi lead that does numerous types of batteries for $15 but just found them for about $3 somewhere.
   Ionshock (49%)
I was curious, I managed to find the IMAX B6-AC Charger/Discharger on another site for a cheaper price because that site offers free shipping, but that site's package of the charger included a whole bunch of charge leads including a deans plug. Here it is only what you see in the pictures. So I was just wondering.
   Brainanator (34%)
Those are that only leads that come with the charger. Past versions have shipped with a few small adapters (I think it was JST, futaba, and a glow plug adapter) but they have since stopped, and dropped the price.

Can someone tell me how much time it needs to charge an 2200mAh 3S 20C battery?
   Daniel (25%)
Mine is yet to arrive, but the theory is if you charge at 2.2a (the max for a 2200mAh battery) it should take an hour
   limerrific (17%)
At a standard depleted level (right below 9v), I usually balance charge at 1C (2.2A) and it takes about an hour (never really measured or noticed).
   N4505 (40%)
Thanks, I guess I have to do some reading while waiting for it to arrive..
   Edge540t (20%)
If you set up your charger at 1 C (2200 Milli amps per hour which is equal to 2.2 amps) it should take 1 hour to complete the charge. That is if your 2200 mAh battery was totally drained. If you charge at 0.5 C (1100 mA or 1.1 amps it wil take 2 hours). The relationship between the current of charge and the capacity (2200 mAh)of your battery determine the time it will take to charge. The number of cells have nothing to do with it.
   XavierF (34%)
Depends the maximum charging rate of the pack. At 2C about half an hour if is empty. But the limit is the pack. This charger can charge a 2200 pack at 2,7C then len than 25 minutes.
   zagonielod (55%)
Looks like a newby here :) The charging time depends on how much current you are charging with. Usually 1 hour. This means, your battery has 2200mAh, and usually you want to charge it with " 1C " which means 2200mAh ( 2,2A) to make the batteries life longer. Is is any clearer now?
   N4505 (40%)
Thank you all guys, of course it's clear
   Waco (78%)
If you will charge this battery with 2,2A (1C) current, then 1 hour, may be approx. 10-15 minutes more in balance mode. I recommend to use charging current lower as 1C, charging time will be longer, but lifetime of the battery will be longer too.
   Trexid (50%)
I've got two of the Zippy Flightmax 2200mAh 3s 20c batteries right now and it usually takes me about 1.25 - 1.5 hours to charge to max capacity from empty. I charge at 1.7A. Hope this helps!
   nismo (78%)
Depend's on your charge rate, If you charge it at 1c it will take about 1hr depending on how much you discharged it, The accucell 6 can charge a 3s lipo upto about 3.5amps so about 40minutes if charging at 3.5amps
   Firepower (24%)
That depend how much charge there is in it. I guess you have worked it out by now. I have done it hundreds of times but maybe an hour when it is quite low.
   masterlen (25%)
if you will charge it with 1C/2.2Amps (which is recommend) it will take round abouit one hour.
   Yuriy (20%)
N4505, I got this unit (Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories) a few weeks ago and at this time period I fully charge only one my favourite battery (ZIPPY 1300mAh 2S1P 20C) to 11.1v current.
I charge this battery for approx. 2 hours!
   JOHN (50%)
Hi, Probably around 45 minites depending on maximum charge rate of lipo.
   fordfm (39%)
if current 2A, charge =< 1,5 hours.
   thang25 (-100%)
It will tell you when the charge is "full". Normal I think between 1 - 2 hrs.
   Wiretap (28%)
As with any battery, the charger is not what determines the time, but the 'C' you charge at, 1C (safe for most lipos) = 1 Hour, in your case you would charge at 2.2A to get 1C... 2C is safe for many newer lipos, reducing the charging time to 1/2hr. Charge at 2x the capacity, or 4.4A, for 2C
   chrisn (58%)
Approximately 1 hour for average discharge.
   Marcel (25%)
It will need about one hour if you charge with 2,2Ah if the Lipo is really empty.
   teflon don (24%)
it depends on how much amps you charge if you charge at 2.2a than it will take 1 hour (aprox, if the battery is almost empty) if you charge with 4.4a it will be full in 30 minutes
   casper20 (15%)
At 2.2A its about 68-70 minutes.

if you are trying to charge a LIPO battery, are you sure you connected BOTH the balance plug and the power plug to your charger? the charger requires the power connection at all times, when you just attach the balance plug, it says "connection break". if that's not the solution, I guess you have a defective one. if you are familiar with electronics, i guess you could check internally if there are loose connections ...
   Saurabh (98%)
Here it goes:

At 1C total wattage of the battery = 3*4.2*2200 = 27.720 watts

Capacity of the charger = 50 watts.

Max C at which you can charge this battery = 50 / 27.72 = 1.80C

You can charge this battery at a max of 1.8C i.e 1.8*2200 = 3.9 amps.
   Tohme (64%)
I tried with many battery types: LiPo, NiCd, PB. I used the charger for many months with no problem.
With LiPos I always connect both the balance plug and the power plug.
I looked for brake wires, too, but everything is ok.
   Saurabh (98%)
if you are sure that the wires are ok, then you may want to open up the charger and check for any loose connection on the output leads. If you are not comfortable opening the charger, please return it to HK for replacement.

Tohme,
Abrao

I got exactly the same problem with an iCharge wich is quite more expensive and has a better reputation... Such manufacture defects are present on every sort of products and return freight from Americas to HK is usualy higher than product value... Its a pit but these defective products are, at best, a group of step pieces for a second equipment. Good luck.

You NEED to have the discharge plug on the lipo connected as well. I'm assuming you only have a balance plug connected to the charger. There has to be a connection to the banana output port for the charger to charge.

If i have a fully charged lipos how can i put them in storage? I have first choose discharge program and then storage program or i can choose storage program and accucell will discharge lipos to 3,85v per cell?
   Rooks (25%)
You do not have to discharge them just select lipo storage mode straight then your turnigy charger will do the discharging job by itself, i have tried it and i was using Zippy flightmax 2200mah 20c 3s1p from here too. The charger discharge it to 3.79v/cell which is good for storage. Lim
   steven (40%)
You can use the storage program to bring your packs voltage to the proper level automatically but be aware that if you have the safety timer on, which is default and has a 120min cutout it may stop the program before the pack is discharged.
   nismo (78%)
Hi Aureum
All you have to do is select storage charge, It will discharge a fully charged lipo to the storage voltage of 3.8volts per cell
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   thang25 (-100%)
I think you should select storage program then input the Amp and Volt of the battery. The charger will discharge the battery. The charger will stop at storage voltage level, so you don't need to worry about it. But if you want to discharge the battery, don't discharge below voltage level recommend by battery manufacturer. You can find more information how to discharge and storage at http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/ACCUCEL_manual%282%29.pdf
   JpM (40%)
hello.
If the battery is charging, you can choose the storage mode, the charger will take care of itself discharge at 3.8V, and if the battery is discharged at the outset, it will automatically load up to 3.8V with the current that is programmed .
   Brainanator (34%)
You can just choose the storage option and it will discharged your lipos down to the correct voltage. Keep in mind that this model is only a 5W discharger, so it may take awhile.
   Wiretap (28%)
The storage programme is a one-step procedure for storing packs. No need to discharge first.

No it does not come with a deans connector. It comes with a XT60 connector lead with plugs that go into the power output on the Accucell. I took the lead supplied and cut the XT60 connector off with about 75mm wires still attached. Then I cut another 75mm lenghth from the lead supplied and soldered a deans male connector onto them. Then I joined both wires(with the connectors attached) back to the original lead to finish up with a Y shaped lead. Then I took a female deans and a female XT60 connector and totally insulated the solder tags very important this bit! Finally I plugged the insulated female connectors on to the Y shaped lead. To use unlpug ONLY the connector you need leaving the other one in its insulated female connector.THIS VITAL AVOID SHORTING OUT THE POWER SUPPLY. This way you have a dual purpose charging lead to match both XT60 and Deans connectors but only charge one battery at a time and leave the other connector in its insulated female for safety.

joanwa, what are you trying to do? The charger automaticaly defaults to the delta peak setting of 5mv per cell for NiMh.
   joanwa (18%)
in the auto program its supposed to charge with a variable current with a set max value. the manual program charges with fixed current until the voltage drop. well not that important, but read in the manual and didn't find it in the charger
   krisp (69%)
Change to the NiMh Menu and press once the START button. When the display begins to blink press and hold the and - buttons together. Then it changes to the automatic mode. best regards Chris
   Brainanator (34%)
Can you define "auto program" better? I just go to NiMH on the menu, charge, set the desired charge current, and start it up!
   mouchadino (29%)
on the current mode push (the two *status* buttons knob or{ - } )together for a few seconds to turn on automatic mode
   mouchadino (29%)
press the status " and -" button together for a few seconds on the charging nimh mode(charging rate blink) to activate the automatic mode
   thos2010 (15%)
Mine the same on nicads, tested on nicads (could only change amps) and seems to work ok, switched off at correct voltage. Might be a program error should read auto instead of man?
   mouchadino (29%)
in the nimh current menu push together the 2 button status for a few seconds
   Saurabh (98%)
for the NiMh auto program, enter into the NiMh manual program, now press the start button. Once the current starts blinking, press both "inc" and "dec" buttons and manual will change to AUTO.

Cheers
Saurabh.

Hi joanwa
To access the auto charge function when in the nimh or nicd menu that you select the amps, Hold down the and - buttons for about 5 seconds, this will change it to auto

Andrew

I have four of these and never found an auto program. Is there one? I just charge at .6 amps.

what type of plug is used for the power input , the one that was sent with the charger does not fit . and they won't send me the right one
   simcher (6%)
same here, the one they sent me, do not fit! and i can't use it to charge my battery! I reckon we must send it back to them before they send replacement??
   simon (25%)
Run a 2.5mm drill down the centre hole of the plug. Just did it with mine, 10 seconds work instead of lots of hassles sending the cable back. Works fine.
   tinman (15%)
I had the same problem. Buy a standard plugs kit from your local eletronics store - they usually come with about 10 plugs of varying sizes. Find the one that fits - be sure to check the polarity before soldering it up. Best option is to use a 12 volt battery as the supply. Luckily for me I already had some plugs in my kit - found one that fitted and changed it over. Not sure why they haven't checked this - this problem needs to be corrected. Cheers, Daniel.
   joanwa (18%)
alright, yet could you please state the dimensions and polarity of the power plug?
   Frederick (25%)
I received my charger 2 days ago. It had the same problem. The charger receptacle has a 2.5mm pin and the connector provided has a 2.1mm socket. I acquired the correct connector (size N) at a local Radio Shack.
   austin (13%)
I think you need one of these too

It uses a futaba transmiter charger type plug, hope this helps.
   my07clone (25%)
I tried to talk to customer support - they will not even answer my requests - in chat they just cancel the session and refuse to talk, products are cheap and you don't even get what you paid for
   mlapaglia (0%)
The charger doesn't come with a power adapter, you need to get a 12v to 18v wall adapter to power the charger.
   my07clone (25%)
Per item description "bunch of input and output wires" are included - except ther is no wire included to hook the charger up to the power supply. Yes the cheesy power supplies have a cord but I am running a 35A Rivergate power supply and need a way to connect the two.
   my07clone (25%)
Thanks for the tip on the N connector - now I have invested another $10 into this charger - less of a deal every day. The lead from radio shack is rated at 3A will it take 5A and what is the risk?
   sosimportacoes (79%)
hi. the plug in the power imput come with the kit. but is one (P4 plug).
   Ken (25%)
Hi there Ken here, you have 2 options. 1. you need a 5.5mm Outside dia and a 2.5 Inside Dia Plug. Available from electronic supply shops. Option 2 is. Drill the plug out to 2.5mm (carefully)and use it as is. I have sealed mine in place with a mastic sealer (Prestick)to ensure a good lasting contact.
I can't get any message through to HK. Regards.

you can use your pc power for input 12 v im using it its very pratic

Needs to be a DC Power line female connector with a 10mm shaft. 2.5 mm (ID) x 5.5mm (OD).Internal connector is positve and outer is negative polarity.Connectors available at Jaycar for a couple of dollars.
   stergiopilus (50%)
It is a DC connector with an outer diameter of 5.5mm and internal diameter of 2.5mm.
   nismo (78%)
Hi Conrodss

I think you can find the right plug at Radio Shark or any electronic store. Remember bring the charger with you. Good luck
   XavierF (34%)
The power supply doesn't come with the charger.
You have a cable with cocodriles to connect to car battery, this is the connect that you need.
   David (34%)
I have aDC-DC car converter made by DIESEL. it is 12V in and adjustable to 3V,4.5V,6V,7.5V,9V or 12V outwith a polarity switch.it also has 5 diffrent output plugs.you can find this unit at most truckstops.
   Firepower (24%)
They are not suppose to send you the right one. Even the $150 Swallow chargers do not give you them. You put on whatever plug you like. Whatever is on the power supply would be sensible. Just pick one up at your local electronics shop.
   Anthony (50%)
did u get one yet? ibm laptop cord works

The charger might be good but the manual and information supplied by HobbyKing is very ***r.

The discussions and reviews concerning this product are full of people eager to brag about their knowlege whilst providing little information of any use.

Trying to use a 12v 6a power supply causes an inpout voltage error when the manual simply states that 11-18v will work.

I would recommend buying a different charger!

5% DISCOUNT FOR REVIEWS JUST CAUSES THE WHOLE WORLD TO POST RUBBISH!
   AlexARF (70%)
I also displays the INPUT voltage err. Connects through a converted computer power supply. Probably need to buy a special device for power supply.
   Rawcus (62%)
Your getting the Input voltage error because the charger is the only thing on your power supply. You need to add other forms of resistance to the other +5v or +12v power cords to ***p up the voltage to over 11. Your probably in the 10.2v area with just the charger.
   Koarl (25%)
I didnt try it on a power supply, but in a car battery and works well without manual! Maybe you should try another supply!?
   BartekM (80%)
Your power supply doesn`t have enough capicity to store power. When the charger needs more current power supply drop with the "V" below minimal level, You will have the best result when between power supply and charger you will place a acind battery about 7Ah.
   Cliff (50%)
If that 12V 6A power supply is unregulated then it is probably putting out 19V with no load and that is what the charger is complaining about. Measure the power supply with a volt meter and let us know.
   Marcin (0%)
For me it was very good charger, till it fails without known reason :-( Now it's sent back to HK and I'm waiting for new one. But overall it's very good charger. It works good with 12V 5A HK charger. Many of my friends use this charger with no problem, so I had bad luck.
   Joker (70%)
I use AT-power supply. Input voltage 11.9V. It work very well! Tutnigy is a clone of G.T Power A6.
   audriusv (45%)
Well, yes this charger is very simple so no big expectations about it... I would check power supply is it really provides 12V... If yes, then something wrong with charger and you have to send it in for repair.
   Kerms (10%)
If you have used similar chargers in the past, this is not that difficult to figure out. If you want to pay 5x the price you can get one made in the USA and it'll come with instructions. This unit is great if you know what you are doing. I am running many of these off notebook power supplies and they work much better than simple timer based or non mcu controlled chargers. I agree the 5% causes a people to post rubbish, but its also good to hear some comments and it at least is an incentive.
   trucud (47%)
This product is so cool that I've bought 3 of this one turnigy quattro....
I just have to say that the fan is noisy sometimes so i'have to strike it slowly and it gets right :-)
Believe that if there was not a good product, it would be in stock and no reselling at twice the price on ebay..........regards!
   Lokasso (15%)
Probably the error you saw was because you power supply couldn't supply all the necessary current. Try charging with another supply or with less current in your pack to confirm.
   tinman (15%)
Mine works ok - just use a 12v battery to supply. Many cheap power supplied are not properly smoothed out and the troughs might be lower than th acceptable input voltage causing a problem. Either a smoother supply or a 12V battery will do the trick- Cheers Daniel.
   Pitufo (25%)
Go to the USER SET PROGRAM settings and lower the value in the "Input Power Low Cut-Off" screen to 11V, it will work to you *)
   Jason (48%)
What amperage are you trying to charge at and what wattage is the power supply your using?
   Alex (12%)
I disagree with the above comments. I am very please with the charger. Great price, great product. Thank you Hobby King.
   nemo4all (60%)
What I feel is that your 12 volt input has some problem... Please check the charger with some other power supply.... If the problem persists then plz do get the charger replaced...
   mlapaglia (0%)
If you look at the input voltage monitor while you are trying to charge you will probably find your power supply is dropping below the 10 volt mark. You can of course change this value in the settings.
   Zoltan (25%)
Try charging at 5amps instead of 6 as your power supply may only just put out 6amps.

I have used this charger and it works fine with a 16amp power supply.
   krekrek (17%)
For charge of to up 4A-5A, this is very good. I recommend

Is the input polariy correct to charger? Centre connector should be positive and outer shell negative, maybe been wired up incorrectly?
   Saurabh (98%)
Mine works just fine.. am sure there must be something wrong with your charger. i am using 12v 5 amps. try reducing the input voltage cutoff to 10v and see.

All the best !!!

Cheers
Saurabh
   nismo (78%)
Hi Tim
The only time i've had the input voltage error is when the input voltage drop's below the set minimum voltage in the menu, the other time was trying a 19v laptop power supply just to see, the charger detected the high voltage and would just come up with input voltage error, the input plug is - outer and center
   Firepower (24%)
I have four of these charger with no problems. You might have a 12 volt power supply but is it regulated. If not it would hardly be over 18 volts anyway. You could look at it a different way in that you may have got a bung one and you are posting rubbish.
   scaryaaron (0%)
mine seems to work fine. I have several old laptop power supplies witting around and any of them that are rated within the voltage range in the manual power the charger up as soon as it is plugged in.
