Hi i have one of these and i accidently droped it in some water

Now when i plug it into my batteries(it's had a bit of time to dry) it comes up with the letters "rd" then after a few seconds it says "END" can some body tell me what this meens?
   chapier61 (70%)
It obviously means : buy a new one my dear and do not let it fall into water again... END (...of the explanation too). Keep smiling !
   Euzi0 (60%)
means its broken ? Water is not very welcome in eletronics
   HellyFlyer (71%)
Hi This means that the it can't read the battery "rd" and "end" means that it was not able to calculate the volt. If this was helpful to you please give me a thumbs up and say yes it was helpfull. thanks:-)
   celso (67%)
Hi, I think it it means that it is time to buy another one. Welcome to the hobby that drills a whole in your pocket.

I have two and both don't appear to read above 25V. So, when my 6s is charged fully it shows 4.2, 4.2, 4.2, 4.2, 4.2, 4.0 = 25V even though other meters show the 6th cell is properly 4.2 and 25.2. Anyone seen this? Not a big deal, just curious..
   NumnutChriS (36%)
Yes - this is not an exact instrument, it just gives you a hint of the pack charge conditions. But at least 2 digits should be significant, or try another one.

This thing is great for voltage .Trying to find a mah monitor, does HK offer any ?
   ExplodingLemur (56%)
There's not a way of finding the amount of energy stored in a battery. What you can do is check your charger to see how much it's stored in the battery, and then use a wattmeter to see how much has been pulled out of it. https://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6380 Or https://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10343 with https://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11251 to monitor in realtime from the ground.
   chapier61 (70%)
Yes, please search ! Are You lazy ?
   chapier61 (70%)
With LiPo's, the cell's voltage can give you a good indication of the charge. So you have : 3,7 volts = 22 % of the nominal charge* 3,78 v = 40 % (=storage charge voltage)* 3,83 V= 50%* 3.9V=60%* 3.95V=70%* 4V=80%* 4,05= 90% and 4.12= 98% (never exceed 4,15V/cell because 4,2V/cell = beginning of the danger of ignition). Happy ?

Mine (ordered two, they work the same way) does not work in real time actually. I plug it in, it starts showing the voltages, everything's ok, But as the battery discharges and the voltage drops, this thingy keeps showing the initial voltage. Is there a way to modify it to disable this "memory effect"? Does anyone know? BTW, I received it made on a green board, not red as shown in the picture. The circuit looks a bit different as well.
   chapier61 (70%)
I have one. As much as I know this little device is made for ponctual (?) instant control of your Lipo and not for staying connected during discharge. For reading the lowering voltage ( and Amp. conumption) during discharge You may buy one HK's Wattmeter which is more than very usefull for your bench test.
   Saurabh (98%)
yeah.. this is for testing instantaneous voltage. not to be kept on while flying. or else it will not read the changed voltage.
   Asad (95%)
I recently got one. It is on green colored PCB too. It works fine though it does retain memory. It is just for an instant check. For continuously updating one, try the Chargery 6 cell monitor. It has the additional advantage of activating an alarm when the voltage reaches a pre-set value between 2-4V so you can use it in-flight.
   chapier61 (70%)
Disconnect and ...reconnect !
   Dmytro (55%)
Recently ordered two similar units from one well known Hong Kong cheap gadgets site. They work well and do not have any memory effect.

I see mention of a manual, but never received any documentation with the meters ordered. Can someone please upload the manual (if there is one) or know where it can be downloaded from?
   Joxson (56%)
What do you want to know?? Plug in your balance contact in it. The black cable to the lowest plug!
   MarcusRjCharita (79%)
U dont need a manual. There is nothing to configure: just plug and read voltage (just mind positive / negative plugs indicated on printed circuit board).
   chapier61 (70%)
I don't know if a manual do exist, but it is so simple to use that you don't need one. Simply plug it into the balance plug taking care the black wire (negative) must be pluged into the pin "beneath" (balance plug at your left and monitor at our right) and it 'll work immediately as specified.
   AK (40%)
Very useful tool but unfortunately its not precise. Its measurements per cell are useless.
   discosuy (75%)
Why do you need a manual. No manual needed to operate this Battery Monitor. Just plug your battery, and read the voltage of each cell, and then the total voltage.
   leolo (22%)
Very helfi !! kauf mehr
   matches12323 (25%)
Plug it in on the bottom cells, it should come up. Will first show the amount in each cell, and then the entire voltage. You can't fry it if you plug it in backwards so just try it out. -Tyler
   Hughesfani (63%)
In my opinion there is no manual needed to operate it, just simple connect the plug and read out. Also visit at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whP4xXh6TBs
   stretch81 (12%)
you dont need a manual, just plug into the BALANCE plug lining up from bottom pin first, look real close and u will c numbers indercating the total number of cells just line it up, your good to go
   lfibich (73%)
I ordered this unit and now things are at 'stop' waiting for this item to be received in stock - no mention of when that might be. ?did you find where you can upload the manual or got it from someplace else?
   E-Revo driver (45%)
Hi! There isn't any manual! It is very easy to use this gadget. On the top of the baord is a small " " and at the bottom is a small "-". The Balancer wires are, if you have a 2S Lipo, red, black and yellow for example. Plug the balancer wires on the contacts and make sure, that the black wire is on the bottom of the board. I hope, I helped you. I am a German pupil, so please forgive me about mistakes. :)
   Mauricio D (79%)
why you need a manual, just plug it on to the balancing plug on your battery with the negative wire into the bottom ping with the LED screean facing you and that is it. no need of manual it does not do more than read voltege on each cell and the total volts of pack after reading each cell. Good Luck

Not very accurate, but good enough to check if a Lipo is chargerd or not.
For it's small price, it's a must have
   chapier61 (70%)
"not very accurate" you said ? Are you a physician or a modell builder-player ? A one cent of volt is largely sufficient for the little job you need, no ? Work very well and, indeed, it's (more than )a must have.
   Hughesfani (63%)
It is true that it isn't very accurate, but in my opinion it is enough, you can very quickly check the battery status and the best part is the size of the monitor. It is very handy and easy to take with you to flying fields.

i added 3 of these to my order because they had so many and they were so cheap and they hadn't been selling very fast. As soon as i place my order they all of a sudden they sold out. Now my whole order will be held up. They should reorder before they run out, just a suggestion
   Trance183 (89%)
Exactly! Why not stock at least 10,000 of these per order. I have been trying to buy this since I discovered HobbyKing which was 8 months ago. But they always run out before I order. :( Its the best bang for buck!

Hans Dieter (55%)
Is it dangerous to use the monitor during the flight.
   Andreas (67%)
No its not. I use it at my quadrocopter and look at it while flying. Much difficult by flying an airplain but not dangerous for the monitor. By the way: it works very good. A must have!
   josh (63%)
I wouldn't say that its dangerous, but more unnecessary than anything. It doesn't drag down the battery voltage much at all, but if I were flying a valuable jet or something to that extent, I would just use it during preflight.
   ListerStorm (43%)
I dont think so but why you want to use it during the flight? You cant see the monitor during the flight.
   E-Revo driver (45%)
Hi! It isn't dangerous, but you shouldn't do this, because this Monitor shows the same Voltage the whole time, it is plugged on the LiPo! I am a german pupil (9th grade), so please forgive me about mistakes! :)
   Mauricio D (79%)
it won't work as a real time volt meter ones you plug it to the battery it will repeat the same initial reading even if you drain all the batery untill you unplug it and plug itn again

i wont leave home whit out it! good to know what them cells are doing!

khaberst (86%)
I think this may be a battery problem, but you might be able to help.

If I plug in the battery way the directions say (with the black cable on bottom) nothing happens, black screen. If I shift everything down one pin (so that the black wire isn't connected but all the others are above it.) The monitor attempts to read the cells and says dSP for a few seconds.
   Mauricio D (79%)
you have one or more bad cells on your batery use a a volt meter with red and plack probes and test each sell separatlly excuse my english.

Burnaby (71%)
Unlucky me must have got a lemon. First cell reads under by .04v , second one over by .03v . The postage to return item is $4.50, add packaging and gas to post office makes it cheaper to throw away and hope next one is better. Wasted 5 bucks unless someone has a fix.
   Mauricio D (79%)
try a diferent battery before you dump it..

How is this 30grams when this motor weighs 10. ***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8294

I've 3 of them and it's really an "must have" in your field tools box !!!

OldSkoolKool (98%)
Just got my second battery monitor, and this one seems to be more accurate and better at holding the same individual cell voltages from one display run to the next. Both display the correct total cell voltages. They're not perfect, but try buying a Fluke or Simpson meter for $4.95!

valentin (86%)
if anyone know if there is an item wich allowed me to watch the voltage of my RX battery (nimh)

thank you

sorry for my english

As far as i remember,a few days ago this item costed 3.95$,& now took a raise of about 25%.Pls,correct me if I am wrong.
   josh (63%)
You should take advantage of the offer now. I bought mine and it was only $2.45.

jochenk (63%)
Is it possible to get another firmware, were the total voltage is shown before the votages of the single cells? I think the general interest of the users is the total voltage and of course a per centage information. At least for me a hex file with the new features would be enought.

vanderlei (80%)
I liked very mainly for being able to know if celula of the battery with defect or without load has some.

Ronald (67%)
Question for HobbyCity Staff.

I found this device great and I suggest you to contact your manufacturer to design a similar battery monitor for the receiver battery of big plane or sailplanes like the e-sky one but smaller 4-13 V DC:

What is the max voltage for each port? can I use it to measure Pb battery?
   adler (49%)
I think you can use it for Pb batterys, too.
The voltage per cell is 0,01-4,50V.
   bugijs (49%)
And its idiot proof :D
hope you wont break it

Flavio (67%)
Hi!
Can I use this in close-circuit.
Exemple:
measure the tension of pack when the motor is runing?

Tks, sory about my english :S
   rcozstyle (79%)
Hi Flavio
I had the same thought, personally I can not see why you cant have it connect to the battery while it is in use. If you leave it plugged into your battery through the balance plug, you will not be passing any current through it and so it should display cell voltages on the fly. I will give it a go in the next couple of days and if it does stop working then I will buy some more.
   Flavio (67%)
Thanks Gary!

I bought this e tested: Yes , we can measure the voltage of pack when the pack working!

martiman (63%)
Can you plug 2 x 3S into it?
   regfefgerfer (100%)
No, that would need 8 pins.
   martiman (63%)
What if I fabricated a 6s splitter - 2 x 3S? would that work?
   rcozstyle (79%)
Hi Maurice The unit is mean to read cell voltages on any one given pack, so I do not see the point of what you are trying to do, They are that cheap just buy a another one.
   martiman (63%)
Hi Gary,
Actually, I have a couple of them. I like to tinker with things and since I will be making a splitter for my 2 x 2S packs (so I can charge them as one), I will test if it will read the pack as a 4S. If it does then that would greatly simplify things for me.
   Mariano86 (63%)
Only 1 pack at once
   E-Revo driver (45%)
Of course you can plug 2x 3s LiPos on it. Why not? If you have enough space, you can plug it on the Monitor!

Roy (41%)
What is the lowest voltage the BMON6 will read?
   fats flyer (66%)
this is for 2s - 6s....so the lowest voltage will be 7.4v.
   Roy (41%)
What is the lowest voltage of each single cell that the BMON6 will read?
   adler (49%)
The lowest voltage of the battery monitor is 0,01V of each single cell.
   E-Revo driver (45%)
I think, the lowest Voltage this Monitor can read, is 0V.
